Dr. Larson and Cera get all the stars! They were so caring and genuine. I will also recommend this place, the care is exceptional and the environment is really special. This whole team made a really difficult day as good as possible.

My senior cat was taken here after she stopped eating & drinking. I informed them of her current medications, restrictions & health issues. The doctor we saw did the basics. She was then given probiotics, anti nausea meds & one dose of an appetite stimulant then sent home. We had no answers & were charged over $2k. We were told it would be a couple of days before we heard about a test result. It ended up being 4 days while she was getting worse. Within 24 hours of our initial visit, we were back at this ER. This time we had a doctor who was extremely snarky, passive aggressive, condescending & rude. She did not listen to us, had zero bed side manner & was snobbish. The Rx wet food she sent home with us ended up making our cat feel worse. We told here that she needs certain food for her health issues. This doctor said "well if she doesn't eat, then she dies." Of course we want her to eat, that was why we were there. She just said "ok, well maybe she'll have some GI upset, but at least she'll be eating." Well her GI upset was why we were there. This is all after we informed them our cat had been abused at another animal hospital & it changed how she reacts at the ER & vet. We left that day with nothing but appetite stimulants & food that made her feel worse. We ended up scheduling her an ultrasound because they said that was the next best step & we were desperate for answers. The ultrasound was going to be performed by an Internal Medicine specialists so I thought maybe it would go better. We took our cat in for her ultrasound & unfortunately we got the same doctor we did the 2nd time, Dr. McCorkle. I just wanted to get through it so my cat could see the Internal Medicine specialist & get her ultrasound. But the tech, Ray, was awful! He handled our cat so poorly, at one time dumping her back in her carrier after she had an IV catheter placed & she fell directly on her head. I said "Woah, careful!" And he said, "she's a cat she's fine." Placing her catheter was awful, they had to repeatedly poke both of her arms. Ray came into the room and said "ready to taste the rainbow," before he gave her a sedative that he knew we were scared for her to have due to her age, health & sensitivities to medications. Ray was so insensitive, cavalier & cold with what he was doing and saying, it was deeply upsetting. He also started talking about time shares for some weird reason. When it came to shaving her belly for the ultrasound I told him she had a bad experience last time & she ended up with cuts & gashes. Ray said "well it's kind of impossible for that not to happen & at least it isn't a straight razor." Then he ended up slicing her up! We ended up cleaning it up ourselves for her. After her ultrasound, we did not get to have face time with the specialist at all. Instead Dr. Mccorkle gave us some notes from the ultrasound. The ultrasound told us nothing we did not already know. Ray, then came back into the room essentially yanked the IV catheter out of her arm & did not apply any pressure after removing it. They sent us home with more probiotics & nothing else. We even told them she is only having drops of diarrhea, but she cannot actually poop. They didn't seem concerned at all. When we got home I noticed our cat was bleeding badly at the IV catheter site. When I went to look at her wrap I saw that there had been blood coming out all over because Ray did not apply pressure or put the bandage properly on our cat. There was blood everywhere, it was terrifying. I had to delicately clean her up & rebandage her at home. We have spent over $4k, money we do not have & nothing is better for our cat. She is worse off now because of this place & so are we. We have documented everything & have taken photos. We are beyond upset! We feel like we were taken advantage of because we have a Care Credit Card. I just want a refund at this point. I am the most u

I do NOT recommend this emergency vet for cats. Long story short every one was incredibly kind, but the veterinary care was poor. I took my cat here on a Monday after he stopped eating on Saturday and hadn't peed in 24hrs. He has a history of a urinary block, they got him back right away and checked for this immediately, which I appreciate. However, it was not a urinary block, after running bloodwork and giving him fluids (which I already had supplies for at home) and an anti nausea med they sent him home. Then after not eating/drinking for another 24 hrs I spoke with them and they informed me he would need to come in for an ultrasound ($650) and that they could not do anything else and this would be the next step to figure out what is wrong. I decided to go to another emergency vet, they informed me we could try a topical appetite stimulant before doing an ultrasound. They rubbed a little on his ear and it worked wonders, he was back to his usual self in a day and all it took was a cheap tube of topical appetite stimulant. VEG is clearly out to make money and run unnecessary tests. I do not understand why they did not prescribe or suggest trying an appetite stimulant when we went, either the vet didn't know what he was doing or they are out to make as much money as possible, either way we will not be back and I do not recommend VEG.Edit after response: an appetite stimulant was never offered as an option during our visit or over the phone. I was informed there was nothing more we could do without an ultrasound. Even more of a reason to stay away, they lie. A different emergency vet suggested an appetite stimulant can help sensitive or easily stressed cats, once we got him eating again he did great, there was no underlying condition, he was stressed and needed to eat.

VEG is by far the best Veterinary Emergency Hospital i have ever experienced. My dog Olive experienced bloat/torsion in the middle if the night. From the minute I got there I was communicated with clearly and my dog was treated with the utmost care. I was able to stay with her the entire time except for the surgery which i was invited to watch through a window. I felt supported by the staff who were compassionate and concerned for my own needs. We were there for about 20 hours. I was offered a room, a bed and even a shower. My dog was attended to with great care. She survived due to their tremendous care and even was able to be released far earlier than anticipated. I managed to keep my cool through a very stressful event because the team made the time to check in on me and make sure i felt supported. Colorado is fortunate to have many talented vets, but VEG is a rare and special breed. I’m so happy I remembered reading another fantastic review if this ER Vet and raced there in my dog’s time of need. I know that decision saved my dog’s life.

Took my GSP in for a laceration on his side. I was speaking to a doctor within seconds of walking in the door. Everyone at VEG was so nice and comforting and giving so much love to my boy. I was able to understand the cost of the visit upfront. They immediately were able to begin treating him and it was so refreshing not to be sitting in a room away from my dog wondering what was happening - I could see everything that was going on and able to talk to the doctor the whole time he was stitching up my boy. I am so grateful to have a VEG near me it is so comforting knowing my dogs will get the best and transparent care when we have emergencies. Oh also they offered me a sparkling water to drink while I was there as well which was wonderful. I am floored with the next level of customer service.

The staff goes above and beyond. They were the most kind in when we had to bring our girl in last Saturday. We probably weren’t the most polite but the staff had such grace. We will be forever grateful for how they treated our girl Kali up until the very end.

Exceptional care! Every staff member was kind and attentive to our cat. The staff worked quickly and efficiently to care for our cat who required surgery. They vet and staff took time to review the surgery including procedure, recovery and cost. Very grateful for their all of their work and kindness.

This review may be a tad bit late but well deserved. My doggo Luna swallowed some floss and we had to do an emergency surgery. When we were fearful of pricing and the stress but not only did they help us out but accommodated with many different options. Luna is up and running but during her stay she loved all the pets and loves everyone gave her. Thank you for taking care of my Luna

Such a positive emergency vet visit. My dog got into some chocolate, so I drove over immediately, and they were helping me the second I got in. He was more nervous than usual, and everyone was so patient and accommodating in terms of what he and I both needed. I never had to leave his side, and they even let me sleep in the kennel with him the whole night. If I wasn’t able to be there the whole time, it would’ve been a much more stressful situation for both of us, but everyone did an amazing job making sure we both felt as comfortable as possible. Could not recommend this place more!!

No one wants to have to say a permanent goodbye to their beloved pet. VEG berated and scolded my daughter for finally, after months of specialized care and thousands of dollars in vet services, coming to the tough decision. The cat was suffering and extremely sick. Instead of caring for both the cat and the human owner with dignity and care, my daughter was left sobbing being told VEG could not "ethically" take care of the cat and to that my daughter had not done enough for the cat. In addition to my daughter's distress at having to come to this decision which was in the cat's best interest, she's being scolded and told she hasn't done enough. There aren't enough words to express the anger about this treatment. I wouldn't take any pet to this place and have been sure to spread the message to as many people as I know. I did go back to the location and talked to the person at the front door to let them know they had to get their "ethics" straight.

They were incredible! We came in panicked as Harriet had a fishing lure through her foot. Having been told by our regular vet that maybe they could squeeze her in but weren’t sure, it was amazing to walk in be surrounded by staff and it was out in 5 minutes - safely and with no lasting damage. Huge relief and so much gratitude. They will see us again, if needed! Highly recommend. Dr Blanchet, Jenny, Marissa and Georgia were a delight!

VEG should be anyone in the Boulder area’s first choice if you need an emergency vet!Should have left this review long ago, but almost a year ago my dog Tioga was hit by a car. He was stabilized at another vet and discharged with no major injuries, but in the evening he seemed to be having trouble breathing. I called VEG, spoke to the doctor, and was advised to come in because they suspected pulmonary contusions, which don’t show up for 12-24 hours so the other vet wouldn’t have seen anything on the x-rays.The staff there were absolutely incredible and so loving and compassionate with Tioga. We stayed with him the whole time they were triaging him and they did everything on the ground with him - giving him shots, putting in his IV, and doing an ultrasound. I really can’t overstate how much it meant to me being able to comfort my dog while they did all of this - I was pretty sure he’d died not 12 hours prior and didn’t want to let him out if my sight for any reason. He ended up needing to stay overnight in an oxygen chamber to take stress off his lungs, but we were allowed to stay as long as we wanted with him. They even had specific chairs that were low to the ground and super comfy so we could sit at his level next to the chamber. When we went to pick him up the following afternoon, he was as happy as he is getting picked up from doggy daycare - wagging his tail and everything! And then to our surprise, our final bill was even lower than the low end of the estimation they gave us when we first went in.So thankful we went to VEG. Photo included of a happy and healthy Tioga post-recovery.

Lil Miss Kona Ann got into something last night and had an allergic reaction. We rushed her to VEG Veterinary Emergency Group in Boulder and they fixed her right up. They got us right in, assessed the situation quickly. They first worried about her rather than payment. They were amazing in comforting her and us. She fought the muzzle and they called us in right away to assist. We had the best experience yet with any Vet. I highly recommend them if ever you are in an emergent situation. They sent me everything I needed within 24 hrs to make a claim with her insurance company and called first thing this morning to see how she was doing. Top notch service!! ?

While no one ever wants to end up at an emergency vet, this is the place to go if you find yourself in need of doing so. Every single member of the staff here that we interacted with was fantastic. I hope to never have to return, but if I was ever in need of an emergency vet again, I would definitely choose VEG. They allow you to go back and be with your fur baby rather than having you wait out in a waiting room alone, wondering what’s happening. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and so loving with our puppy from the minute we first called them through the moment we were discharged. The doctor was sure to prepare us for all potential outcomes from the start, which we appreciated. Fortunately, we had a quick visit with a happy ending thanks to the staff at VEG.
