The Painted Mines is really a beautiful and unique spot and not crawling with visitors. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes and take water. There is none available in the park. The only bathroom is in the parking lot. I highly recommend taking a ranger-guided tor as you might see things you would have missed on your own. Lots of great photo opportunities. I would recommend going in the morning or evening hours if it's a hot day.

Free. Well preserved. Very pretty. You don't see places like this every day.

This was a very pleasant surprise - definitely worth the walk to see the colorful layers up close.

Like an alien world in the middle of farm country. Really cool day trip for the whole family.

Overall really unique place to visit! I expected something different where you’re going through the “paint mines”. Here you’re mostly walking on a trail and then there are little view points where you can view the different areas but you can’t really walk through. We went at dusk to get low lighting in September, and beware the bugs were awful!!! We left because they got so bad. Really is a beautiful place though and I’d still recommend checking it out.

This place is well worth the time to visit. It does require some walking, so wear appropriate shoes. There are three parking areas, each with about a 10 to 15 minute walk to get to the scenic walks around the breathtaking colored sandstone sculptures. With lots of mini trails we spent about two and a half hours walking around and taking pictures. No dogs, or bikes allowed by park rules. I would also say the disability access is very limited.
Highly recommend if you live in Colorado or are just driving through our beautiful state.

Lots fun walking through the park, even the trails in the grass field if you have time
Far out there but worth it

Yes, the drive is long (worth every mile). Yes, the walk down to the colorful formations takes a bit of effort. But when you’re standing amidst the layered clays, watching the light shift across the formations, it feels like you’ve stepped into something timeless.
If you love geology, history, nature walks, or just breathtaking landscapes, this is a place you’ll remember. Highly recommend for anyone wanting something out of the ordinary.

It's amazing this place isn't more popular (not that it wasn't fairly busy). It's stunning and beautiful and a pleasant moderate hike. I would highly recommend that people go and check it out.

A bit of a dud. It wasn't very colorful. It was a nice hike though with a nice gravel path

I just drove around Colorado and the friend told me to check that place out and I'm glad I did. Hikes were fairly easy but you could also drive around the top and overlook everything. Saw some deer running through when I was there. I probably wouldn't go back but it was really nice to see.
