They don't have inventory, just what's on the shelf- that's If it's in the right spot and if it's not pre-owned. Incredibly poor customer service, caused 2 separate trips from 45 minutes away due to their lack of service, even if the part was listed as in stock online. Worth the drive to Glenwood to an actual helpful hardware store.

I had a terrible experience at this store today. I went in to purchase Neem oil spray and a large bag of potting soil. The spray rang up for $15.99 though the shelf price was $13.99, but I figured I might’ve grabbed the more expensive one. The cashier showed me a label for the large bag of soil from out front listed at $19.99, and I confirmed which one I wanted. I paid, went outside to get the bag of soil and noticed that there wasn’t a bag matching the price I paid. Also, the receipt said I’d purchased hardware for $20.99??? I picked up a less expensive bag of soil and went back inside to ask for a refund of the $20.99 hardware that I did not purchase - the same cashier (who said he used the SKU for the hardware because he couldn’t find the one for the soil???) rang me up for a refund of $20.00 plus the tax. I asked for a refund of the full amount I had paid ($20.99) which was also listed on the receipt. He kept insisting that the tax made it the amount I had paid though I could clearly see that he had put in $20.00 ONLY as my refund amount. Finally another cashier invited me over to her register to help me and easily refunded the full $20.99 amount and rang me up for the smaller bag of soil I had brought in from outside. Incidentally, the sign in front of this bag of dirt stated it was $8.99 but it rang up for $11.99. I was tired of dealing with the employees and took my overpriced items. I will never shop at this store again and would recommend everyone doublecheck the price listed with the price charged at the register. Very frustrating experience.

ACE hardware of Carbondale is definitely not the helpful hardware store!!!!!!
I can't understand what happened to such a good business in a prime location.
No one in that store cares about the customer. It's apparent they are only there to collect a paycheck, which they most certainly do not deserve.
I have had several consecutive bad experiences and will no longer waste my time.
There is a lack of products on the shelves and what is there is well over priced.
I suppose, like most businesses these days, it's hard to find quality employees but it's perfectly clear that the owners don't even monitor the day to day operation.
Honestly, it's easier and faster to just go somewhere else.

Worthless, half empty store with horrific customer service. This place has been going downhill for years and with the arrival of first source, it finally hit rock bottom. Avoid at all costs!

Completely worthless. This store used to be great but it isn’t anymore. The on hand stock is terrible. The customer service is mediocre. I always know exactly what I need and this store never has it. It’s like they don’t pay attention to what they sell. This may be the last time I ever roll in for something. And just FYI…the CoOp has it and it always available to help if not. Don’t go here.
