If I could give less than one star I would. They have treated each visit as a business opportunity, suggesting unneeded stuff or making decisions that lead to further money and/or headache.Using one example (as we gave many chances to this vet). My dog was playing fetch and unfortunately ran into landscape edging that caused an emergency vet visit and stitches. The emergency vet advised we wait 3-5 days to visit our normal vet to re-bandage, and then another 3-5 days for a 2nd re-bandage. They mentioned the vet may want us to do a 3rd re-bandage and at that point we should request they show us how to change the bandage to assist in costs. They ER vet also mentioned the stitches dissolve, no need to take them out.Fast forward to 4 days after his initial surgery, we brought our dog in for the first re-bandage. They loved the progress they saw when the bandage came off! It was healing "beautifully". They said he did not need another bandage, he was good to go home without one. When I asked why the the ER vet gave other advice, they told me "some vets love bandages, some don't". I immediately expressed concern and requested to stay on the safe side to continue good healing but was very quickly dismissed saying again, he does not need another bandage. Okay fine, I have to trust their opinions. They said bring him back to get stitches out - though we said the ER vet told us there was not a need to do so, they insisted we bring him to remove them.We did all that was told of us, taking extreme care to ensure no infection and trust the vet. Here we are, 2.5 weeks later, took him back because the area was red and swollen. He now "needs more stitches" and/or we need to come back every 7 days to bandage him, each visit costing $130. We requested if we could bandage him ourselves, to which they told us "no because you don't know how" interesting that the ER vet said they should teach you to save costs. With this, there was no education and no context given on what needed stitches, was it the original wound, or was it a new one? They could not answer the question. Every question was left unanswered, and they quoted us exactly what we paid at an emergency vet. This emergency vet empathized deeply that the surgery was so expensive because, well, it's an emergency vet. So why would a basic vet charge the same amount, with no context given? We left, took him back to the emergency vet who immediately said the stitches were taken out WAY too early and this was a negligent vet.All in all, this place will do everything to profit off of your sick animal. In all my years of owning dogs and vets - I have never experienced a worse vet office. If you want to go to a vet that actually cares about your animal rather than your wallet - avoid at all costs. And to be clear, I would be okay with an expensive vet had I felt I was educated on what exactly what going on with my dog. The principle behind exploiting the emotions that come behind your animal being in pain (with NO CONTEXT) to make a dollar is what gets me. The principle behind "just sign right here, we will put your dog under and go from there" is what gets me. I mean, how do they interact with more complicated conditions? If they cannot handle a wound, a surgery that universally understood by almost every human, how would they treat a more complicates scenario? If we want to add another example, my dad took his 18 year old dog to this same vet to be put under. He requested goodbyes before he was too medicated to say goodbye (fair request, right?). After much time had passed, the vet brings my dad into to say his goodbyes and the his dog was already completely unconscious.Stay away. At all costs. These vets are money hungry and negligent.ps I don't think I have ever written a negative review on a company, if that tells you how strongly I feel.

I switched to Brekke 5 years ago and couldn’t be happier Dr. Jackie and Dr. Jay are so thorough. I have 3 dogs 2 of which are senior. They take the time with me and treats each dog individually and gives them the right amount of time. It means so much to me that my dogs are getting the care and attention they need and the doctors care about me too!

My cat had an urgent issue and they were able to get her in quickly, even though she was a new patient. Dr Jackie is personable, understanding and very knowledgeable. I now join my neighbors in making Brekke Veterinary one of the most recommended vets in the Castle Rock area.
