Let's preface this by saying, I've never written a google review, but what I experienced at VCA Douglas County warranted one. They tried to charge me $42.00 dollars for 5 Carprofen pills when you can get the same amount at Walmart for $5.00. When I questioned Dr. Arthur, the medical director, she stated it was VCA policy to charge $30 to fill a prescription. So, that means they want to charge you $30 to drop some pills in a container. She had no real justification other than it's company policy. They took good care of my dog, which I am thankful for, but that is their job. Also, the front office staff was very friendly and helpful. When I brought up that it was crazy that they charge 740% more from a pharmacy a mile down the road, she took the opportunity to make a personal insult and stated "your dad was so much nicer and I don't have time to argue with you". My dad had initially taken the dog in because I am a teacher and I had a hard time finding a sub. I am straight forward, but only when needed, and when you choose to up-charge by 740%, I have a problem. If your medical director chooses to handle scenarios like this by falling back on corporate policy and taking personal shots at someone; it's simply poor leadership.

We took our ailing, senior pet to VCA Douglas County Animal Hospital on the advice of our veterinarian who was unable to make an after hours appointment. We were assured of the choice because our vet made the referral and were not disappointed. The hospital is clean, modern, and looks like a new general hospital. The staff (we met two intake staff, two vet techs, and one veterinarian) were all excellent. Our pet had a thorough exam and we were given advice about options for treatment. The hospital staff were fully prepared to treat our pet then or draw blood for labs and see our regular vet the next day. We chose to have the lab work performed so our vet would have the result the next day (the ER has its own lab) and saw our vet the next day.Impressive, compassionate service.

Dr. Arthur is amazing. She was very gentle with our cat Reni who is very sensitive and shy. She did great! Terry, the manager also made sure our baby is taken cared of. Everyone is so nice from the front desk to the doctors. Really appreciate you taking care of our baby.

This place is not what it used to be... We brought our Huskie here 2 years ago and the original Vet who saw him gave him some medicine to clear up his crusty nose and help his pains he was having, like arthritis, and it worked great. We go back in here tonight for the same symptoms and the help is rude and the new vet says we need to do a $1200 biopsy for a crusty dried nose and to stop feeding him fresh food from Ollie because it could give him a heart attack, and then charges me $96 for wheighing himNo prescription to help his nose or his painNever coming back here again, ever!

We have a dog that started having seizures last year. We took him to VCA to get checked out and he was prescribed medication to control them. He takes them 3 times a day and for the past year he's been doing great and we have received consistent shipments from chewy for his meds. Then last week, when his meds were supposed to ship they hadn't. I thought it would be okay, maybe it was because of the holidays. A few days had passed and I was getting nervous that we might run out of meds. So we called Chewy who informed us that they hadn't shipped because they needed the vet to authorize. So we then called the vet who confirmed that they needed to see our dog in order to make sure everything was going okay. They did eventually get back to Chewy and the meds finally shipped. We were going to be cutting it close but they were scheduled to be on the day he would be running out. Then Fedex delayed the delivery. This was a Saturday and guess who's not around. So, $168 later after a visit to the Emergency Vet, we're fine and didn't miss any medication times. We have a follow with VCA but, I'm not sure we want to keep them. Wouldn't you think they would call and let us know that they needed to see our dog before we could receive more medication? Especially knowing that Chewy had been calling them to get permission to release more? This was a complete failure from Chewy, to VCA, and not to mention FedEx but, mainly VCA. They don't give a sh@&t about your pets or their health. And the simple courtesy of a call to see how our dog was doing at any point during the past year never came. Pretty upset with them and will be looking for a vet that cares.

I was very happy with the care my cat received. The vet assigned to Lexi was very caring & explained everything to me.

Insanely high prices for regular care, bloodwork, and tests. Like 3x more than other clinics. Doctors were just ok, nothing special. I really don’t recommend this place for the amount you pay for basic care.

If I could leave zero stars I would!Stay away from Vca Douglas County Animal Hospital!531 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, COThey intentionally let our English bulldog die. On Sunday June 4th our dog fell and we immediately called our vet Lisa Sanborn and all we got was a recording telling us to go to a particular hospital, we couldn't even leave a message. We rushed our English bulldog into the vet hospital because she was very ill. The Vet hospital said we had to go thru our primary care to have certain tests done. When we tried to contact the vet the following morning Monday June 5th all they could say is that Lisa Sanborn would be busy with surgery and would not be able to see us until the following Monday. We begged for help over the phone. We went to another vet hospital without much assistance. After trying to get our dog in we finally found a vet where we had to drive over 50 miles to see, but it was too late, the vet said if we had gotten our dog in sooner there might have been a chance and she died Friday night June 9th right there at that vet hospital, the only appointment we had with our current vet was Monday June 12. To add insult to injury Dr. Lisa Sanborn's administrator sent a very nasty letter to my wife basically calling her a Karen and said we were not ever welcome there because of our insistence that our dog needed to be seen. We had gone there for many years with multiple pets. That is the last place anyone should EVER send any animal to unless you want them dead! They could careless how animals are treated and I will NEVER forgive them for how they treated us!

Took in my pet Kona for a free check up after adopting him. The vet said he had a bad heart murmur (grade 4-5) they recommend us to a cardiologist which we then took him to. We were charged $700 dollars for a check up to say he had a very minor heart murmur but not a grade 4-5 maybe a 1-2. The vet asked us to we went to and I told them the VCA vet in castle rock. She was very surprised to hear it was one of their one vets saying his heart murmur was so bad when it wasn’t. After that appointment we took him to a vca vet in centennial because the castle rock location wouldn’t pick up. We decided to get his shots done in centennial which we couldn’t get at castle rock due to his “heart murmur”. The centennial vet charged us for a check up even though castle rock had just done it less than 2 weeks ago. All we came for was shots and had to pay for a full check up as well. All this for a shot for my dog. I spent almost $1,000 dollars on a mistake made by the vca vet. As a new and first time customer I would not recommend this place to anyone. I would love a call from a manager of some sort as well. This was a costly mistake!

This chain of a vet in Castle Rock is about as rude as they come. Because they handle "emergency cases" every time you call for an appointment they want to make it an emergency appointment to charge you more. I just had the receptionist speak so condescending to me as I stated more than 3 times it was not an emergency and that next week would be fine. I can promise you there isn't a veterinary office or random stranger that cares more about my dog than I do -- do not go here. They will try to milk you for more money than necessary and will do everything they can to make you feel like a bad dog mom. I have two french bulldogs and they never seemed to offer great care, so save your time and money and go to a vet that cares just as much about you as the dog owner as the dogs. Also if they try to give you a prescription, go to walmart for about 60% cheaper. This Castle Rock vet office is a rip off.

Erin answered the phone to my cries and got me in immediately and had serious compassion in her voice! Andrea greeted us with love and concern escorting us directly to a private room. Within literally seconds, Dr Sanborn and Pablo came in with extreme kindness and levity. Kleenex was grabbed immediately by Pablo and Dr Lisa Sanborn made me laugh and calmed me. They do not overcharge, do not do unnecessary tests and immediately came up with a plan for my elderly terrier with unexplained pain. I am in debt to these four people as their true empathy and warm hearts gave me hope that this would not be the day I say goodbye! Go here and if I could give a 100 star review I would! God bless these amazing humans! Oh, and when I left Andrea and Erin were sweet, fun and shared stories about their amazing pups. I am in awe of this amazing crew!

I sought out VCA to neuter my dog hoping for a quicker procedure than what his usual vet can accommodate (3 months out), VCA charges $1400 for the neutering procedure which seems astronomical. BUT, staff was super friendly. Will most likely wait another month for the usual vet as $1400 is crazy.

The people there are very professional and friendly. They performed minor surgery on our lab (13 yrs. old) and did a fantastic job.
