When I went in person last year, Mel helped me analyze a vacuum leak on my SAAB 9-3. That would have been a good review for seeing me before I drove back to Houston. Later, when I wanted to buy a bunch of parts or maybe a whole car, he answered the phone the first time, said that he would check to see what he had, and then never returned my next ten calls. I don't get it.

My check engine light came on on my 9-3 when I was vacationing in Colorado. I did not want to drive back to Texas without knowing what the problem was. Mel found a leak in the cold air intake which I was able to fix by myself with tape. He did not charge me anything and I have had no problems with it for the last four months.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Diagnosed, located, and fixed the problem fast. The customer service and overall attitude of the employees makes the distance to the location of the shop worth it.

Terrible place, watch out for this guy, he Will quote you a low Price over the phone and when he gets your car there, he wont look at it till next week, then he Will say something else is wrong with it, take it from someone that worked there, he is a scammer and a bad person, his business Will be put out of commission soon because he doesn't even have a permit from the city to work there. His name is mell, he acts really friendly on the phone beware!!!! !!!!!

First of the only reason they are are receiving two stars is because the work was correct. This was a horrible experience in the end. First the owner Mel quoted me a price of $198 for my work, $200 for my part, and $60 for my towing. When my car arrived at about 11 am I asked Mel how long would it take for the work to get done. He said it would be ready by the afternoon. 5:30pm comes around and I get no response so I took it upon myself to call. At this point I was told that my car might not be ready until tomorrow. Frustrated because I had to call them to check on my vehicles status and glad I didn't make the trip to pick up my car! Then I was told by the mechanic that he would give me a call back after he got off the phone with mel. Never happened!! I called at 7:00pm to get no response and the voicemail. Today 5/6/16 they opened at 9:00am. 11:00am rolls around and still no call concerning the status of my vehicle. So when I arrived I saw the tech working on it still and we had a conversation in which he states he was working on it till late last night and that's why I didn't receive a return call. Ok cool I let everything that happened prior go and was just thankful my car was fixed. The part I got in my car is used and not new so they said they were charging half off for the part. And my tow turned out to be a 50 flat rate which I was also appreciative of and was paid the day before when it arrived on the lot. So from what I was quoted, my remaining amount should of been $298 w/ tax. They drew up my paperwork and in total $306.25. Reader please keep in mind that I have yet to meet Mel. He is either running an errand or on his way back to the shop but never shows. I signed the paperwork and paid my total. 3 mins from home (black forest area) I get a call from Mel saying I owed home another 220 dollars. So I asked why that was and he said because the labor is 220. I was originally quoted 198 which I paid along with my part that was used and half off. Mind you reader that I was at the lot for about 45 min and no one ever mentioned any price adjustments. The communiction is horrible for a business and either he quotes his prices incorrectly or hes trying to muscle me out of money. Rest of the staff was awesome but this Mel guy which is also the owner does not in my opinion does not handle business well.

Trust in auto service is rare nowadays, I have complete trust that Mel and his boys will do a good job at a fair price.

I bought a 1999 Saab convertible 9-3. I noticed one of the power steering lines was leaking fluid. Took it to Mel's. Mel said he take care of the car the next day, that did not happen! It wasn't until the next week that he took a look at it. In all, he had the car for two weeks. His mechanic did a great job and it was less than the quoted price. However, there was a cooling fluid leak, that was not discovered while it was in the shop. The cooling fluid leak, presented itself, after the car would idle for less then five minutes. It would start steaming, it is very noticeable; steam coming out from under the hood. The shop did a great job repairing the power steering fluid leak, but never mentioned steam coming out from under the hood; a cooling fluid indicator light appeared on the screen. It is my opinion, that this should of been noticed while still in the shop. It is for this reason that I can only give a rating of good. I know it's a busy shop, and time is of the essence. However, it could have been parked in the lot, let idle, until the car was warmed up. I think that, as a procedure, this is not asking for too much.
