In July of 2025 my girlfriend and I were traveling across the U.S. in our Chevy Express van. We were having issues that I thought were brake issues. I thought the brake booster was going out. We took it to them at 10:00 am. I told them what I was experiencing while driving and they dove in. They called me within a couple hours saying the brake booster was fine but the pitman arm and drag link were horribly shot. I said go ahead and replace them. They called back by 3:00 saying it was ready. When I picked it up I told them I was really concerned that the booster was in fact bad (even though I hadn't drove it yet). I told them we would go spend a day and night camping in bluff Utah before we go up to Telluride. They said they would order the booster and have it ready if it was still acting up when we came back through and if it wasn't no worries. They would not charge for the part. Well sure enough it was NOT the brake booster. It drove perfect and the symptoms never happened again. I can't thank them enough for diagnosing properly and using their professional knowledge to get it done right. They easily could have sold me a booster but they didn't. Honest good work from real mechanics. Thank you all so much.

Sean and his team got me back on the road on the same day I had my beloved 99 4Runner towed in due to the starter giving up. Not only did they get it fixed, they noticed my front brake pads were razor thin (as I was shown after) and got it sorted by day's end. Always a bit nervous about getting fleeced as a traveler passing through but these guys seemed the real deal

Auto Masters is our go to mechanics. They treat you with respect and tell you what is going on with your vehicle. From the time you walk in, Katie listens to you and she gets Shawn,who will help and listen and explain what's going on, and is not afraid to talk to women. These folks are great! I have sent many friends to them and they are all so satisfied.

They literally saved our honeymoon on wheels! 🚐
We’re on a 10-week road trip across the U.S. with our trusty VW T5 campervan — shipped all the way from Europe (yes, we’re those people). Just before reaching Cortez, a mysterious battery light blinked on, and our hearts sank faster than our voltage.
As soon as we rolled into town, we started hunting for a garage. Five minutes after pulling up, they already had their heads under the hood, diagnosing like pros. Twenty minutes later: verdict in — the alternator had decided to retire early.
Given our European van’s exotic nature, we all feared a long wait and a big bill. But nope! They tracked down the right part, fixed it in record time, and charged us less than what we’d have paid back home. On top of that, they were so friendly they even gave us a lift to our hotel.
Ten days later, the van’s still purring like new, and we’re back on the road — grateful, happy, and slightly more in love with Cortez than we ever expected. ❤️

I was on a road trip and blew a strut. I rolled into Cortez in the afternoon and they diagnosed my problem quickly. I brought my truck in the next day at 8:00am, they swapped out both my struts in an hour and a half and got me on my way. Great service.

Shaun was very helpful today! We were traveling through and had some unexpected car issues, qe called Auto maters in cortez and shaun talked to my husband and told him he could see us first thing in the morning. This shop was the ONLY shop available to look at our truck, all other auto shops from Durango to cortez, could not see us for 1-2 weeks.
We are so greatful for Shaun making time for us and providing knowledge without feeling like he was trying to upsale us. He is a good guy and we would trust Auto maters corps for any car repairs in the four corners area!

I have lived in 4 corners area since 2017. It took a while to find automasters. They reliably perform maintenance and fix complicated issues. You need an appointment. We bring everything from our 2001 Isuzu trooper to our 2024 Toyota tundra to them.

We had a great experience with Katie and Sean! While on vacation, we found that we were getting gas smells inside the car. Auto Masters did a diagnosis and easily fixed several hoses and clamps. The price was very reasonable. Thanks to Katie, Sean, and their tech for worry-free service! We were back on the road in under 2 hours.

I’ve been looking around for a new mechanic recently as my mechanic I’ve had for YEARS is going to be retiring so I have been “shopping” around giving places in the area chances to see what they can do and if they’re a place to keep spending my very hard earned cash. Let me tell you. This is NOT the place to take your vehicle. I brought my vehicle in for a clutch replacement that had been replaced by THE SAME “auto masters” less than 5 years ago, I figured it was a clutch that the original owner brought in so they put it in and only charged labor and maybe she got some janky or faulty clutch online. Come to find out it was the clutch AUTOMASTERS RECOMMENDED!!! They told me it would be done in two days, it was EIGHT days later (and many many phone calls from me) they finally tell me it’s ready only for me to pay my bill and get into my car with a part just sitting in my center console(JOB NOT FINISHED). Pretty easy to put on, so I do that and think maybe it’s not THAT big of a deal. After running my errands around town I get home and as I’m pulling in my CHECK ENGINE light comes on. VERY untrustworthy, terrible communication, and they do not seem educated enough to be doing any sort of detailed work on anyone’s vehicle. They are scam artists and you are better off taking it to a dealership for their prices. At least you know they’d do the job right there.

Such an amazing shop! Has helped me in the most frustrating situations and are GOOD, GENUINE people. Took me in same day & gave me the answers I needed for my safety. I will always go to them with my car maintenance. Highly recommend!
