These people know thier stuff. Got us in and out in a timely manner. Chuck was pleasant to work with and was able to answer any and all questions we had. His young mechanic got right on our transport and didn't stop til the job was done. If your in the area and in need of equipment service, look them up. Had a flat tire my air compressor took a shit. I drove 60 miles, I stopped by four different mechanics who refused to let me use there air or help me in anyway. Stopped by this shop, who not only let me air up my tire but sent one of the guys out to do it.
Since they took such good care of me once, I brought my truck back to them to have a carrier bearing and p.m. service done. I can't express the level of customer service that this company demonstrates.
This company reminds me of a time in America when community was the standard and the mechanic down the road wasn't just a guy who worked on your car but also your neighbor. You don't get this level of professionalism and service from a corporation.
Thank you guys for the great work, the professionalism, communication, and going above and beyond.
7/31/2025 update. Had these guys take care of my bcm and mini split ac system and again i can't say enough great things about them. They don't make companies or customer service like this anymore. I don't think i would trust anyone else at this point thanks again guys

Hey guys! Remember that guy from Texas that needed to hobble home and needed a 911 repair? I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for getting me home to Texas in a less than 24 hour turn. Recently had a service engine code on my 2018 Ram Dually, Stopped in and talked to Dillion and agreed my DEF pump Temp sensor was bad, Dillion called around and found a new pump in stock and set up an Appointment for the following Tuesday, New pump installed and code cleared, all is good, I definitely recommend this shop, Very professional and knowledgeable. Repair turned out to be less cash than we talked about. I Don't do dealer repair so this is now my go to shop. Thanks Guys.

Very Professional, knowledgeable and they treat you like family! While traveling, I took my 1989 Chevy Van in to fix a dangerous suspension issue that arose after installing a lift. I met with Dustin and his Father Chuck and they immediately diagnosed and fixed the issue. I trust these guys so much, I'm going to drive my Tacoma down from Wyoming to have them work on it! Thanks guys!!

I stopped into Nitty Gritty Offroad to inquire about chains for my dually and got talking to the owner, Chuck. As it turns out, he also owns Diesel Tech. I had heard their name from someone in town and was told this was the place to go to diagnose my steering issue on my Ram 3500 and for any and all things diesel. Then, I ran into Chuck at the store that same day and it all came together. He offered to look at my truck to make sure we were safe to continue towing our trailer North. He crawled under the truck himself and gave me a clean bill of health. After, he refused to accept any money. I also wanted to do a 1000 mile oil change on a new truck and instead of taking the business, he said I didn’t need to do an oil change yet and to wait until I got home and save my money. If you’re looking for an honest shop, with friendly employees and a solid reputation from over 20 years in business, this is your spot.
I’m now confident to continue our journey and will be back if I am ever in the area or need anything done as far as mods, accessories, or work on my truck. The store is amazing, too. They have everything in there.
Aside from all that, just talking with Chuck was a great experience. He’s warm, kind, and has a calming effect. Definitely a light of a person.

On my way to Mesa Verde National Park I made a stop at Walmart and noticed that my driver's side front tire was severely cambered out so I was referred to Diesel Technology/Nitty Gritty Off-Road in Cortez, Colorado and I couldn't have picked a BETTER shop to go to. I met Chuck, the owner, and he understood that I was in danger driving any further so I faced a tough decision being Friday into the weekend when Diesel Tech was closed. Having a Class B motorhome I asked Chuck if it would be alright if I was to "camp" in his lot for the weekend and he agreed which I am eternally grateful for. He saved me over $ 200 by allowing me to camp in his lot rather than a motel in town. On Monday, I was told that certain parts would need to be ordered so I had the option to stay another night but stayed in a motel, but the option was there. Tuesday the parts arrived in in the morning and they had me back on the road in the afternoon. Kindness of this degree was welcomed and appreciated more than I can express. Thanks Chuck, Clint and the rest of the guys at Diesel Technology. I would've liked to see the Nitty Gritty Off-Road part .Maybe some other time

We got stuck on the way down the Canyon from Telluride to Cortez, chewed up distributor gear, took a while to figure this one out. Kustom towing rescued us to their yard and the next morning and after some phone calls in vain, Kustom did some calls and got us to this place. Even while they were totally flooded with work, Charles and his son let me fix our RV in their yard, helped with troubleshooting, Charles is a real specialist on the Chevy Big Block, and provided parts and tools... I'm so grateful, they made us stay on track for the Matt's off-road games in Sand Hollow State Park Utah, the birthday present for my kido... Thank you guys! What a day saver!

Trip salvation. Our truck transmission started actually my up midway through a month long Colorado vacation. Once we arrived in Cortez, we googled diesel mechanics and found Diesel tech with all the good reviews, so we took a leap of faith and went for it. Turns out the stellar reviews are legit and well deserved. We came in with a bad ATM on an older model Chevy Silverado duramax and were welcomed cordially by Chuck, whose customer service was totally on point. After diagnosing the problem, and against the odds, Dustin sourced a good replacement part with a lifetime warranty (no longer dealer available). They installed it and got us back on the road in a couple of days. Truck is shifting better now than ever. Top notch facility and people. We wouldn’t hesitate to trust them with our vehicle again. Thanks to Diesel Tech for a job well done!
