I am shocked at the amount of good reviews for this hotel. It is not up to the standard I had for the Holiday Inn name. We stayed one night in August 2024. The entire hotel is dated with an old decor which isn't the bad part. The lobby is clean and the staff is very nice and helpful. We were upgraded to a "family" room with bunkbeds for some reason even though we were just a couple. As soon as we got off the elevator on the second floor, I noticed the torn, frayed and lumpy carpet which reminded me of a cheap 80's Vegas casino hotel. The hallways are dark even though there is lighting. The hallways and the room smelled VERY dank and musty with a hint of sanitizer. The room was very old and dated and there were dark stains along with pink stains on the light colored carpet. It was one of those rooms where I could not walk around unless I kept my shoes on. There were drywall repairs in the plain bathroom that were quite noticeable because of poor spackle jobs. We did not use the pool area so I can't say anything about that. This hotel has the feel of an old Motel 6 but under the Holiday Inn name.

Really enjoyed the theme of this hotel. It is rather so clean, the staff looks like they take great pride in the cleanliness of their hotel.

This hotel looks exactly the same as it did when we stayed there in 2011. Maybe new carpet. It quite possibly may have looked this way in 1992.
Service was great. Room was extremely clean, (no sticky Covid antiseptic residue on floors), white socks stayed white after walking around room. The bunk room suite we got was huge.
Kudos for the most memorable inroom coffee "nook"
Been years since staying at a place with a Juliette balcony as the window. It was fun, however outside window was quite dirty (inside was spotless).
Breakfast was usual fine Express and the area was kept spotless. Breakfast staff were friendly and very helpful. The pool was good, was probably an outdoor pool first, but after built enclosure does tend to heat up the air.
This is an older hotel, from maybe the 60's or early 70's?, so layout, ceiling heights, etc are from another era. There are sprinklers, but they've been added post construction. Decor is 1990's.
The suite room at the end of the top floor (in the south hall?) is definitely sloping downhill on the king bed section, but there aren't any signs of cracks or crack patches in walls or ceiling, so whatever is causing the settling seems stable. There was A LOT of noise in the suite from the slamming doors of other rooms as well as the stairwell adjacent to the suite door.
Gave 3 stars because the staff were exemplary and it was possibly the cleanest hotel room during the entire 13 day road trip through six states. The staff and cleanliness brought the stars up from 1 or 1.5 to 3. This hotel would benefit greatly from a remodel to the newer IHG decor and new, quiet and efficient windows and doors.
Stayed second weekend in August, 2024
Rooms: Large. Very clean inside. Dated, but everything worked. Part of room had definite slope in floor, but no signs of recent settling. Sprinklers in hallways were added post construction- not a good or bad thing, but speaks to age of building. Most creative use of dead end hallway in room (coffee nook)
Safety: Sprinklers added in hallways. Sprinklers and smoke alarms in rooms. Juliette balconies were safe, the patio door was secure and only opened maybe 4", and the iron balcony was securely bolted to building. Deadbolt and privacy lock functional

Last resort hotel, this is an older hotel with a Western theme. The service was good, and the ladies on the front desk were very attentive, we arrived just as a huge group arrived (25 people), and they wizzed through them like pros.
The hotel is dark, the carpet is old and the rooms are dark and older.
The rooms were clean, just old, the bed linen was clean and the towels were soft.
There was no plug in the tub, so having a bath resulted in using a towel that blocked the water from flowing out.
Breakfast was meah! Just enough to keep you going, BUT they did have warm cinnamon rolls, which were yummy.

It is a good location to visit Mesa Verde National Park, Overall, the Hotel is good like other Holiday Inns. The day we went, the hotel elevator was not working. That was a really bad experience. The laundry is located outside the main building which is inconvenient.

Rooms smells strongly of disinfectant. 100 degrees in the pool area, our kids didn’t even want to go. First room had barely working A/C. Second room right in the highway and sounds like it. Would have checked out and paid for the cancellation, but the family was too tired after traveling. Found hair in the tub and other housekeeping oversights. Half of the washing machines and driers are not working. Both computers on second floor not working. Very disappointing on every front.

The room was fantastic, my only gripe is that there was the previous occupants food left in the mini fridge and that was gross. We loved the design of the family suite and it was great. The pool DEFINITELY needs a deep clean. It smelled bad and was a bit greener then it should have been. Gave us the ick tbh. The breakfast was great, I wish there had been more fresh fruit but it was awesome otherwise. The atmosphere and decor of this hotel was awesome and set a great tone for our trip. The one desk clerk smelt so bad of BO that I gagged getting out.

Best night's sleep of the whole vacation! Fun decor, clean rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff. Loved the shower. And our toddler loved going up and down on the elevator and looking out the huge windows. (One little gripe: Pool area was not very well lit, and the hot tub looked like it was due for cleaning.) Very glad we stopped here. (:

The hotel was very clean. The room was nice and clean, and the bed was comfortable also. The staff was friendly and helpful.. The location was easy to get to. The breakfast was free and was good. The lady taking care of it took great pride in what she was doing. For the price, this hotel is a decent value. I'm sure we will stay here again next time we come through. My one suggestion to them is to add additional lighting in the parking lot.

I didn't want to have to share this, but I woke up to a mouse making itself a cup of coffee in my room! I told the staff, they didn't seem to care. The early morning front desk clerk smelled like a bag of rotten onions, which filled the walkway to the continental breakfast! Later I sat in the lobby and watched several homeless people enter the building to use the community restrooms and get water. They only good part of the trip was the restaurant across the parking lot.

This place looks like something out of a 1980's movie. Cowboy and western decor is prevalent everywhere, including a full size bear skin over the front entrance.
It's time for a make over. The place is a bit beat up, but appeared clean. The rooms were ok and fairly comfortable although the bed was soft and a bit saggy. There was no desk in the room and that was a bit inconvenient. The breakfast was the same as it is everywhere else - boring and overly simple. The furniture in the breakfast area is beat up and tacky and needs replacement. There are a couple of coffee shops down Main Street if you care to skip the meager breakfast fare at the hotel.
I am returning to Cortez and have elected to stay somewhere else next time.
Nearby activities: Walking distance to a couple restaurants and convenience stores.
Safety: Seemed safe. Lots of tourists and families.
Food & drinks: Breakfast was not good and had limited section, but you already knew that.
