A post office sold out of stamps

They're not going to have anything you need, won't let you use their tape, pens, etc so make sure your package is bubble wrapped, sealed, and ready to go before coming here.

This post office is a nuanced experience requiring a lot of patience. Basically USPS doesn’t deliver to most local addresses. Anything shipped via USPS is going to end up on a shelf at the post office. It then gets returned if you don’t pick it up quickly enough. Sometimes quickly enough is 2-3 days but at Christmas time it’s more like 24 hours. The best method we’ve found is to ship UPS to your address but to put your PO Box number at the end of a 9 digit zip so the package might make it to your box if it goes USPS. Also, the line is almost always 20-30 minutes long. You used to be able to pickup with no line at 7:30 AM but now they open at 10 AM due to limited staffing. Good luck!

I use to be more understanding, but after two lost packages, several yellow slips in my po box not associated with any actual items, and now the double talk between the people at the desk and the ones on the phone, a 1 star review is more than appropriate. Everybody has a limit on patience and mine has been used up with this clown show.

It's never a good experience. The post office bld number is 217.... God forbid any sender puts that number on a piece of mail or package with YOUR BOX NUMBER AFTER IT, just like the agent wrote on the receipt when you opened your box.....They return it to sender with an undeliverable sticker across the whole label. They don't like to deal with doing their job. Use UPS or FedEx or carrier pigeon or smoke signals...... it's less frustrating and you know it will get to you

Consistently the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced anywhere in my entire life.If you’re not from Crested Butte and perform the unforgivable sin of ordering a package from USPS not knowing they don’t do local delivery, save yourself the trouble by going a few doors down to the tackle shop, buy some fish hooks, and proceed to drive them straight into your eyeballs and then yank on them. Trust me, it’ll be better than dealing with the person at the front desk.

I love that there is a post office in town. But the people that work there are always grumpy, disorganized, and unhelpful. Often I try to contact them on the phone. They never pick it up. I don’t understand that. They could easily make it a good experience, but they’d rather try to make it hard for customers. I’ll generously give the post office two stars for being a post office, but the employees deserve zero.

Terrible. Inability to pick up mail due to a toxic postmaster who refuses to abide by safety protocals and ocntinually chases off good employees. Hope you like waiting in HOURS long lines for rude service and lack of cleeanliness

This is a small town post office. It doesn’t work like one In a huge city and if you plan accordingly it’s fine. We live in a place that has one way in and one way out in the winter, you can’t expect 2 day shipping when we don’t have mailboxes and the post office has 5 employees. Multiple times I’ve missed putting my P.O. Box and they still get it to me. I’ve even dropped a package of with ups shipping and they made sure to return it. The people that work here are hard working and very patient.

It's a 50/50 shot if I am even going to get my mail. I don't think they even try. Pay the Extra for UPS or Fed Ex, or deal with the headache.
