My wife passed in 2014. For many years she and I owned and operated a small Event Business in the Denver metro Area. She ran the office and I was responsible for the events. Shortly after her departure I began to familiarize myself with the status for all areas of our business. Little did I know what a pickle she left me!I soon learned we had several years of unfiled taxes both personal and business.I set out to meet with attorneys. They pointed me to a tax accountant. I felt they would be able to resolve my problems.Several months later Federal IRS agents appeared at my business with a warrant for her arrest! I am still amazed they were unaware of her passing! They made it clear to me I had some work to do and fast!My next plan was to interview a few Tax Debt Settlement firms. As soon as I met Jack McDonough, I knew I had found the “A Team”. I quickly signed on with Blackfin IRS.I had a ton of work ahead in order to correct all these issues. Over the next 6 years we worked on preparation, submissions, negotiations, government shut downs, lengthy built-in waiting periods and processing time.In the end between late filings, penalties and interest I owed a cool $1.4 million dollars to the IRS!During my journey with Blackfin, staff came and went, sometimes resulting in further delays.Once Kathryn McClain got my file, I feel confident it never was far from the top of her pile! She is amazing, thorough and committed to customer service.Kathryn is extremely easy to communicate with – always responds to my many questions promptly. She also has a sense of humor as some of the issues dealing with IRS were simply ridiculous. She is also very clear when updating the status of the offer in compromise process.In the final “COVID year” she brought me to a successful resolution of around $40,000.00. That is a number I could handle!Kathryn is amazing and has allowed me to finally sleep at night, settled my stomach, and actually able to look forward to beginning my next life. We are so appreciative of the excellent service & results we received from Blackfin. They were very helpful in relieving the stress of having a very large tax bill & unable to pay it.They were able to brilliantly negotiate on our behalf to bring the total down to an amount we could afford.To finally have this tax bill taken care of removes a heavy burden off of our shoulders & allows us to look forward to a much brighter future.We would highly recommend this wonderful organization to anyone who needs this type of service. We were very satisfied with the the help we received from Blackfin IRS Solutions. We had multiple years of issues with the IRS. Blackfin IRS Solutions was able to negotiate on our behalf with the IRS. They were able to GREATLY reduce the amount we had to pay to the IRS. We tried years before do do an Offer In Compromise (OIC) on our own with no success.We highly endorse Blackfin IRS Solutions to help with your IRS problems.

The service provided by Blackfin was unsatisfactory and resulted in serious negative outcomes. Their organization appears to experience significant turnover and twice they made mistakes on tax returns that required amended filings. Their delay in providing service created an issue with the IRS that would not have otherwise occurred if their service was timely. Further they put me on a $75/month plan to provide tax services which went on for a year. When I attempted to cancel this recurring monthly charge this past April, they have continued charge my credit card after repeated requests to cancel. I strongly recommend anyone considering Blackfin to look at other options. My experience with them has been disappointing and never anticipated such a horrendous level of professionalism and service.

BlackFin is AWESOME to work with!! Kathryn helped work out a deal with the IRS that was better than I could have asked for. Kathryn, was patient, polite, efficient and caring, all the while helping to make a very stressful situation easy to get through. Kathryn has worked hard to settle my tax debt! I was kept updated on any progress that was made and I felt like she cared about my situation personally. I would most definitely recommend using BlackFin to settle any IRS debt. Blackfin helped us solve our IRS problem. After being taken by another tax firm Blackfin assessed our situation and put us in a program that allowed us to become free of owing the IRS anything. After retaining BlackFin IRS Solutions, there were many bumps along the road, which had me questioning my decision to engage the firm. That said, as soon as Kathryn M. got involved, things quickly got resolved and I’m rapidly moving towards getting my tax debt paid off, in full. Kathryn acknowledged the prior issues, which included staff turnover, brought herself up-to-speed on my case, and is very well-versed in working with the IRS. Kathryn is a bona fide tax professional and Jack is lucky to have her on his team. That said, if Kathryn is available to represent you, I’d highly recommend BlackFin IRS Solutions!

Do not use this company for any reason! You are much better off doing it yourself or hiring someone else. They lack professionalism, dignity and decorum. You do not want your personal information in the hands of these people. I would not put it past these people to become vindictive with sensitive information. I prepaid this company. From the beginning, I did not feel comfortable with their business practices. The owner had made a few derogatory remarks about Hispanics and being Hispanic I took notice but didn't comment because I thought I needed these people, I hadn't filed taxes since 2011. I requested a refund of the $1500 I prepaid, I was told someone would contact me, but they never did. I figured oh well, these people are the best they know what they are doing I'll complete the rest of my taxes and not use them in the future. We discovered that I did not make enough all those years to file taxes. I again requested a refund. I was directed to Kathryn the manager, who became confrontational, and I ended up crying on the phone. They had access to all my information; they knew I was a single mother making below the poverty guidelines. I think she felt bad because she was overly aggressive. We agreed they would file my 2019 and 2020 taxes instead of me getting a refund; it was either accept or lose all my money. Since that agreement, communication did not get any better, I requested an in-person meeting with her and my tax preparer. After sending emails and getting no response from the tax preparer. Kathren agreed to meet me this morning, she knew I had questions but said she was the only one in the office and became aggressive and confrontational. I stated I wanted an in-person meeting with my tax preparer. She then rolled her eyes and became verbally abusive in front of my 18-month-old daughter. I turned around and walked out.

DO NOT USE THEM! THEY CHARGE OVER $600 PER TAX RETURN AND DONT HAVE ENOUGH STAFF. WAS TOLD THAT JACK DOES NOT RESCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS. AWFUL PEOPLE AND COMPANY

Using BlackFin IRS Solutions for multiple tax years & paid their fee in full up front. I have been kept in "the dark" throughout the entire process. I had to call them twice recently - once to check where we were in the process and then again after I received a packet in the mail, finding out it is only the "Draft" for individual tax years. I was never informed of their process and what to expect. I am highly disappointed with this experience & would have appreciated a "heads-up" that I would be receiving a packet and what needed to done moving forward...

Was charged $2400 to do four years of taxes. Took almost three months to get them back and when I asked why it was taking so long I received a rude email back letting me know they are short staffed and behind on the work. When I asked what exactly I get for $2400 was told just having taxes done. There is no negotiation done for the $2400. Be careful of what your getting here because I am now going to have to pay another company to do what I thought I was getting here when I gave them $2400 up front.
