I had a really disappointing experience at the Charles Schwab branch in Cherry Creek. I spent over 2 hours hours (and multiple trips to the branch) last week working with an employee on an application for options level trading, only to find out today-after being told it’d be approved by Wednesday-that Options Level 2 wasn’t possible, based on my account type (Retirement Plan Trust-while I have the same account type at Fidelity, with options trading authority-“Tier 2).
The front desk staff/“supervisor”, Barbara, was incredibly rude. She barely paid attention, chatting with a coworker about personal matters like buying a car for her daughter while I stood there. She interrupted our interaction to help customers who arrived after me with no apology. Other reviews mention the poor attitude at the front desk, and I can see why. Barbara reported she was the supervisor of the employee who helped me, yet all she offered was an insincere “I’m sorry, I’ll talk to him.“ If you are a supervisor, your employees actions are your responsibility. Disturbing that a historically reputable brokerage firm would hire/retain someone of this caliber!! I would not recommend this branch.

I’ll start by saying I hate that you have to complete paperwork and wait x amount of business days to open a custodial account. I worked with Matthew M and I also worked with Megan (she was on the 1800 number) and I don’t know her last name. But it gave me hope in customer service again, they both went above and beyond to help me in creating a custodial account for my kids. I will be forever grateful! Thank you Megan and Matthew for being awesome and your job, you can tell that you enjoy it, and go the extra mile to help when you don’t have to. THANK YOU

Good luck getting a hold of some at your local branch! Cherry Creek, Denver Co in my case. Other than that my experience with CS has been fine.

I would kindly advise individuals to be cautious when investing their funds with charles schwab. It's unfortunate that they unexpectedly impose a 60-day review period upon you after depositing your funds with them, thereby preventing you from accessing your online account. After a considerable period of patience, they have yet to provide me with access to my account. I believe this could have been a helpful reminder for those who rely on those funds to generate additional income.

The worst, I have banked with CS for years but they have really gone down hill. They have made 2 major mistakes this year costing me 2 deals and a ton of money. What banker can’t fill out a check correctly? Go anywhere else, I’ll be moving my accounts this week.

Schwab really upgraded their presence in Cherry Creek! It's worth finding an excuse to stop in and check it out.

We have EIGHT (8) accounts and the first time I called I got, yet again, weak customer support. Let me show you the COMPLACENCY that is so ubiquitous in Customer-Facing staff these days as if we have no examples already...Schwab offers a checking account. I created one online intent to make it a joint account. The option was never offered to make it a joint account this time however, it was previously offered. So I called to speak to a human. Of course, I got a rot that sounded like an old guy and the robot took several minutes of my time offering options that do not apply. Finally, I got a guy who identified himself by first name. I explained that I needed help making the checking account JOINT. Then he suddenly gets sassy and refuses to help. He stated that HE does not deal with Checking accounts and that HE only deals with brokerage accounts. He said so if on a high horse - his concern was himself and he made it very clear that I had mistakenly entered his space and that I was consuming his time unnecessarily. Gee, thanks Scwab...me being a new customer and all. Then he went silent. Okay....so I asked the guy if he could help me, I'm looking to reach the right people. The guy then resets as if we have never spoken and asks me what I need today. I just took the time to carefully and cordially explain why I called and what the desired outcome is. This CUSTOMER-SUPPORT guy would not transfer me or give me contact info that would help me achieve the stated goal of turning a checking account into a joint account. Why are BANKS so FREQUENTLY dumping on customers when they call for help? Why can I not get a customer service rep who shows interest in customer service - HELPING OTHERS?Why is it so darn hard for businesses to train their staff to provide basic support by being proactive and simply volunteering the phone number I needed, or transferring me as appropriate, as opposed to throwing a hand in the customer's face and telling them, 'yeah, not my area, see ya" - Essentially 'No, I don't care to help you". It's not, it's not that hard. We've all had good service we know what it looks like, so why are bottom-level managers having such a hard time holding staff accountable for under-performance which negatively affects the business? It's every day that customer-facing staff overtly show signs of not giving a hoot about the employment agreements, understanding customers, or proactively addressing their needs. I LEFT another bank to go to Schwab because their staff also acted like this. How many banks do I have to taste-test to get BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE? Every bank says they are different. No bank has shown that they truly are.Commonality: Not how recently many banks have been acquired by another company. Each time, the fallout is unfathomably frustrating for the thousands of customers they inflict this upon daily in the name of eventual profit increases and higher returns for stakeholders that do not use Schwab.

I was with AMERITRADE and got taken over by schwab. Had issue, young boy was not helpful so i called back and got answers i needed. Tried to log in today 9/6 and got "call this #" and was told i would have to go to branch to have account unlocked. So now i will go and get unlocked and yes, remove money from schwab.

This is primarily a discount online brokerage and they do a fantastic job at it. It is super convenient they have a local office and they are very helpful at the office. This is not a private banking or investment operation with tons of fees and if you are looking for an investment advisor to call you back immediately then I suspect they have one for you to execute your trades and manage your account for a fee just like any other regular brokerage, but otherwise that is not what they do so I don't think it is fair to be so critical of a great online brokerage when most of their online competitors don't even have an office.

Started off with an investment account with them and now have checking and savings with them too. NOTE: You can deposit checks into your investment account at this location, but not into your checking/savings. If you want it in your Schwab bank account, just deposit it into your investment account, and then you can transfer it yourself online afterward.I think their website is easy to use; you can do a lot on your own with trades, research, message with a question, etc. (if that's your preference)Checking and savings have higher interest rates than any brick-and-mortar national banking chain and better than several credit unions and more regional banks I looked at too.I like that you get automatically reimbursed for ATM fees when using your Schwab bank card. The free checks I got with the checking account don't have the duplicate carbon copies, which is weird, but they were free, and I don't write many checks anyway.
