My biracial daughter went into Hobby Lobby looking for a chain for some charms for a necklace she was making. She brought in the charms she had purchased at Hobby Lobby a few days prior to make sure she got the right size chain. After being followed around the store by the manager, she wasn't able to find the correct chain. As she left, the alarm at the door went off. The manager was still following her so she was right there. They discovered an anti-theft sticker on the bottom of her shoe. Even after that, the manager pulled her aside and told her to empty her purse. She didn't know that they aren't allowed to ask that and that it's illegal to do so. Thinking she had nothing to hide, she complied. The manager accused her of shoplifting the charms she had brought it and wouldn't let her leave without giving them back. She went on to say that she is banned from Hobby Lobby and that they would be sending her photo from the security cameras to other nearby Hobby Lobby stores. Apparently this location has a racial profiling vigilante manager who thinks she can search private property without needing to contact law enforcement. She also thinks she can confiscate said private property without proof that it was taken from the store.
