I drove 6 hours across 2 states to see these folks and I intend to do it again next time I need anything for my cello. Chris and Gavonne are the most kind and knowledgeable people I've had the privilege of meeting in a long time. I went to do a string selection where they let me try a variety of strings on my instrument to make sure they were right. They looked over my cello and found a seam that needed fixing and they did it on the spot before I drove home. I was in and out of the store over the whole day and I never felt rushed, they spent so much time making sure I was happy. I can't wait to visit again. Thank you both for everything.

I truly cannot recommend Luther Strings highly enough. From start to finish, they were so communicative, informative, and generally helpful in getting me set up with a new bow. Everyone I worked with and spoke with were clearly very well-informed and passionate about their work. I will definitely be back for any future issues or questions concerning my violin. Even though Luther's Strings is more than an hour's drive from my house, this is my go to string shop and luthier. Chris, the owner, is very kind and patient. His office manager, Gavonne, is knowledgeable and so helpful! Justin, the master luthier, is also very knowledgeable and helpful. I recently had a few instruments appraised, and he was very thorough and skilled. This entire shop treated me very well while purchasing my instrument last year, and in the months since when I have had questions or concerns. I am sure I will be back!

I've had my cello worked on by other shops with generally decent results. But I recently had work done at Luther Strings and thought they returned a cello worth twice the price! I didn't think my cello could sound so rich or feel so responsive...but it does and I couldn't be happier.

They don't know what they're doing. Their philosophy revolves heavily around replacing strings, and they misdiagnosed an open seam in my violin as me needing new strings. Before I wisened up to their incompetence, I took their advice and replaced my strings, discovering a massive open seam a few days after my appointment. They charge repairs of an open seam by how large it is... and in neglecting it, I had to pay a heftier price, make a few extra round trips to Denver, and abandon them for someone new. I also had issues repairing bows there, as they use bad hair that lasts only a month or two, and in the Luther Strings way, they tell you it's normal and that they're your guys. Do not go to the current Luther Strings; something is incredibly wrong with their luthier services and they don't have the staff and the knowledge necessary to run a shop that advertises itself as one that works on violins. When the customer must self-diagnose an open seam and the violin shop consistently affirms that their methods are sound (it isn't normal needing a bow rehair after one month even with lots of playing)... you know it's time to begin searching elsewhere. Call my situation Stockholm Syndrome, but don't make the same mistakes and consider your options before you waste any money.
*this review was delayed (a year) in its writing, they may have changed some things and hired a better luthier, but my experience inclines me not to trust their work again.

We dropped a Cello off here to get some repairs done. From there time we first stepped in the door to 3 weeks later when we picked up the cello we were blown away by the service here. All of the staff were super welcoming to our family. They even let us try some instruments while we waited. We will definitely use them again for our string instrument needs.

Love this business!! My son needed bridge work done on his new cello. Not only did they fix the bridge but also found a crack. They were able to fix the crack without taking the face off. It only took a week. We were able to use a loaner cello while the work was being done!! We also purchased quality strings. All the employee were extremely professional and easy going. I will definitely be going back again for any needs we may have!! Thank you Chris for opening up such an amazing business!!

Fantastic repair work and even better customer service. I brought in an old violin that needed a laundry list of repairs minor and not so minor. I got a detailed, itemized, and accurate price quote up front. As the work took longer than expected, I got updates from them and they even arranged to ship the repaired violin to my new address out of state. The violin looks and sounds beautiful and was clearly packed with a lot of care. I'm only sad I'm not local anymore to give Luther strings more business!

My mom brought my violin to this place to have it repaired for me as a graduation present. My violin has never played like this! I am so impressed with the quality of the repair. Not only does my violin sound better than it ever has, it's easier to play too. They also did some cosmetic work, and it really does look much nicer. When we went to pick the violin up, we returned our rental and we were greeted with an opportunity to go to a practice room and test it out. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful, and I could really tell that they cared about my satisfaction with the repair. They also gave me great care advice when I asked. I'm so thrilled to have my violin sound so nice and for it to be so well taken care of. For any string instrument repair, I would extremely highly recommend. I am sure their lessons are top notch too, though I haven't experienced for myself.
