I have never been able to enter this place because it is always closed. How does one get in? The hours of operation need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Never around. When you do find something you want to buy, he tells you "it's not for sale"

I love salvage, but after the fourth item that I asked the price on and was told that all of them were not for sale, I was getting a bit discouraged. I was then treated to a political lecture from the owner. When I finally did find a door that was for sale I was quoted an absurd price for something that had been sitting out in the weather for goodness knows how many years and was going to request a lot of time and effort on my part to make use of.

This place appears to be permanently closed. No one around. No one answering phone or emails.

Second time we've visited during business hours and it's closed. The website listed on the trailer outside goes to a location in Chicago. The telephone number gives a recorded message. How you actually get to shop this place is beyond me

The owner of this yard is a hoarder, and like all hoarders he over-values his junk. This is not the place to go if you hope to find a deal. The sad part is that only a small portion of the hoard is adequately protected from the weather. Most of it is decaying beyond use, particularly anything wooden. There's a bounty of hinges, mixed with door locks and other random scraps, in dilapidated dressers where the drawers are twisted and stuck in a semi-open state. There's a fair selection of hanging light fixtures that could possibly still be rescued. Lots of claw bathtub feet. Lots of ceramic faucet handles. My suggestion is to wait for the day that the junkyard changes hands. That day you'll find something worth saving for the right price, hopefully. Otherwise, if you want to venture there now, wear gloves to protect against sharp edges. Don't take children.

Look, sometimes... I think people rate based on crazy expectations. This is a salvage yard, it's in the name, it's not an antique store. I love antiques and thrift stores and this was a total treasure hunt. The owner was super helpful and passionate about what he does. It's full of treasures but also broken glass so wear shoes, bring a flashlight. Find an absolute bargain. Learn something about what you're looking at. Tons of doors, knobs, sinks, just a bunch of everything and it's kind of amazing. We got a great deal on a door and antique circa 1800s brass knob. I could probably walk around there all day and not see everything. Crazy hours so plan ahead!

What a cool place! You should be able to find basically anything you can imagine (lots of clawfoot tub feet!), and most valuably Tom is a trove of knowledge. We spoke to 4 businesses who all gave us advice ranging from "you need a welder" to "you'll need to drill holes in your tub for a custom bracket installation". Turns out our old feet are totally fine and all that is needed are square nails to install...which is the original design, but apparently only Tom knew this!
