The Southwest Family YMCA is a local, no-frills workout spot that has been a community fixture for decades. It is known for not being as packed as other metro area gyms. The equipment is decent and covers most workout needs, with pretty decent weights, though it lacks platforms, dip stations, a sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. A key feature is its great 6-lane, 25-yard pool, though member access to it is often limited due to extensive scheduling for swim teams, lessons, and third-party rentals. The adult staff is very nice. The facility primarily caters to kids and likely retired individuals, which is great for those groups but can be challenging for working adults. Major points of criticism include limited weekday hours, a lack of weekend hours (it is not open on Sundays), and frequent restraints on facility use for members due to extensive youth programming and rentals. Members pay full price even when access is restricted. The workout rooms are quiet, but equipment is older and the locker room amenities have degraded over time. Repairs can be slow. While it has great prices compared to some chains, it is significantly more expensive than nearby competitor gyms. It is best suited for those with daytime availability, like shift workers or stay-at-home parents.
I love our local Y. The staff are very friendly. Although the facility is old it is clean and welcoming.

I can’t speak highly enough about my first experience at this location after the downtown location permanently closed. The staff were extremely welcoming and kind - especially Steffy :)

There's a sign out currently that says the facility is closed.
