I wish there was a negative rating to give. Even if they are the closest veterinarians to your house, I would highly recommend finding another vet for your pet, especially if you consider them family.I was 10 minutes late for my appointment, but still made it. I had a crying newborn with me… and instead of helping, the folks there told me I had to reschedule because they had a staff meeting. I requested them to take Luna, especially since I had already given her gabapentin and sileo, but they said no. Now I know why she dreaded coming here in the past. They are mean.I’ve never seen anyone there greet the fur babies… Nobody there is happy or excited to see the pets that come in. In fact, someone that worked the front desk had told me about another vet that she herself liked more. Getting a recommendation from a staff member to take my dog elsewhere… what else can I say. They themselves have a 10 minutes late policy that they did not abide by today. Definitely sending a complaint to the state veterinary licensing board as a first step…

I have been taking my dogs to this place for the last 6 years. I don’t know what happened but now they never have availability to see them. They are scheduling 3 months out! I mean if your dog has an issue that is not an emergency but it needs addressing you either take them to URGENT CARE or wait until it becomes an emergency to take them to urgent care. What is the point of having them as their regular vet. Obviously I won’t come to this place anymore. I need a vet that is reliable and is able to give me the time I need not 3 months after when it is already too late.

The vet was great. Great friendly staff. The problem is i was overcharged by$170 and when i got home and called about it, a woman checked into it and said they would refund the overcharge but did not simply apologize for the expensive mistake that was made. I will go back but I'm still a little disappointed in this service.

We have been taking our 7.5 yr old dog here for 2.5 years and have provided this clinic with all of our dogs records before they started seeing him. We have also been taking our two cats here for the last 3 years. The past few years were okay, at best. We had been told once that our kitten had severe anxiety and needed to be medicated for visits after his first visit to a vet after adoption - we never medicated him and he has done fine since, so we thought little of it. For our dog, we had always got his visits done and though a few were sub par and communication was mediocre, we brushed it off and saw typically saw a better vet and tech at the next visit or just continued to go here due to the proximity. Due to our most recent visit at the Central Park VCA, we will not be returning though. Our pup has always been an anxious vet goer (which has been well documented since he was 4 months old from all his prior vets, where he had no major issues, or refusals from vets to examine him). Prior to this visit and one six months ago we also always received a reminder call to pre medicate him, for his anxiety, as well as the allergic reaction he has to one of his annual vaccines that requires an additional prednisone shot in clinic. For this particular visit, we received no such call and unaware he was even scheduled to receive the vaccine which he had a previous reaction to. Although the vet tech was friendly and took time to ask about any health concerns we had, our dog was taken to the private back room prior to seeing the veterinarian or the vet tech interacting with our dog despite his documented history of anxiety. He was soon after brought back to the room and we were told our dog was not allowing the muzzle to be put on and my husband was asked to muzzle him. Following my husband placing the muzzle, our dog would not allow the vet to touch him for an exam, flailing around in fear. This has NEVER happened to him before to the extent that we cannot calm him down, even without pre medications for anxiety. Although we appreciated their attempts afterward to give him treats and to make the visit more positive for him, it was too little too late. Furthermore, we felt somewhat shamed for his behavior and the onus for his behavior was placed entirely on us despite the poor communication and layout of the visit. Our dog was then prescribed an aggressive sedation "chill protocol" and we were rescheduled for a visit. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone moving forward despite the proximity in Central Park. The callous greeting and expectation that a dog with documented anxiety would be comfortable with this is unacceptable and negligent. Additionally, we were asked if we wanted to start the 'mixed flea and heart worm medication', and reminded them that this has caused GI issues and blood in his stool in the past. Although we had previous discussions with them about this, since studies had been done to evaluate these symptoms, this was not documented in his records. Again, I do not recommend this clinic, my husband and I are both healthcare providers (to humans) and the care provided for our dog was not acceptable. While we understand safety concerns for staff with handling anxious/fearful animals, and for the most part the staff is friendly and empathetic, the clinic itself is simply not well run and is inconsistent in the quality of care its providers.

The staff at thus VCA are great! Always friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and very kind to my dog. He doesn't like the vets so the staff there go out of their way to make him more comfortable. I'm only giving 4 stars because they are changing their hours to not be open on the weekends anymore. That makes it quite difficult to make appointments for me and may affect my ability to come to their office.

The staff here are amazing! My dog has very high anxiety at the vet. I am very thankful for the amount of consideration and care my dog receives here. Pricing is fair. Please keep in mind. This place isn't trying to steal your money. If your pet is very sick or injured, there could be some sticker shock when it comes to the price. This is going to happen at any vet in this type of situation. Please dont take these frustrations out on the employees. They are human beings with feelings that are just like you. The people here are passionate about what they do. They are true animal lovers. They absolutely have your pet's best interests as their top priority. It's difficult for me to get my dog to her appointments due to distance, but I will keep bringing her here because of the care she receives.

Great service, staff and environment. The vet I saw today was kind and respectful to my animal the way I would be to my animal and that really set them apart from other places. Now I have been a member of VCA for a long time, but I'm glad that there's one really close to my home now and that the standards of care haven't been lowered.

The vets there were super helpful and kind. Dr. McTague was informed and a great listener when we shared all of the problems our pup had been experiencing. She provided practical solutions and all of the medicine suggestions were extremely reasonable. We are so grateful for VCA Central Park!

Poor customer service and will pressure you into their cash grabbing "service." If I could give a place a negative rating, this would be the place. For some context. I am traveling under military orders overseas. So this was not some spur-of-the-moment fun trip.I originally contacted this place in an attempt to receive international health certificates for my 2 dogs. I had already done my research on the required documents. This place was my back-up hospital due to the original hospital falling through. A technician by the name of Chanae Bowden "attempted" to contact me but immediately went to lunch, therefore could not be reached in a timely manner before the hospital closed. I explained my situation to the staff. I was due to fly out in 3 days. All of my paperwork to leave is already in motion. Had I chosen to stay in the country with my dogs, I would be homeless, or I would have to surrender them to a shelter. My entire household is already packed and shipped to my new home overseas. On 3 separate occasions, I wanted to back out of this process because I was not convinced they weren't trying to seek an easy pay day. The technician that contacted me insisted that it can be done in about 48 hours. They failed to inform me that I would need an appointment. I went in around noon and was told the earliest appointment that day was 430 PM. I had to put in a $100 deposit "because of paperwork." I go to the appointment. Was not asked to fill out anything related to the international health certificate. But I ended up paying about $1000.The day after the appointment, that same technician reaches out to me because they were informed by the USDA that they are missing paperwork. When I questioned the purpose of putting in a deposit for the "paperwork" she was supposed to fill out was for, her answer was that there are certain forms that only I can fill out. She had over 4.5 hours to figure out what forms needed to be filled out. If I needed to fill them out myself, what prevented her from doing a 10 minute search on the USDA website and printing them out? I could've filled them out at my appointment. When I asked her what does the form look like because the form that I found had a completely different title than what she supposedly needed. Her answer, "send that and we will see if that is what they need." If? You said the turnaround time was 48 hours, and you don't even know what needs to be turned in? I didn't think I was going to have to babysit someone through their job. I've already forked over $1000. I'm not going to make a $40 trip to Office Depot on the premise of a,"maybe."They've wasted enough of my time and money at this point. I only asked to cancel and be refunded for the health certificates. I was willing to chalk this up to an overpriced health exam. THEY REFUSED. They charged me over $300 for each certificate. That's more than $600 for certificates I STILL DO NOT POSSESS. Do not trust these people. They do not care about your pets. They just hope you're desperate enough to fill their wallets.

I have barley gotten the courage to write this review after a month of my sweet little baby’s death. I brought him in late one night due to noticing fatigue, not eating or drinking after waking up. Fine one day and different the next but still very aware of his surroundings and I had very high hopes. The vet said he had no chance of living and the best bet would be euthanasia. After the decision I asked if I’d be able to see him before the process and I was promised I was. 20 minutes or so after the decision I was given options to pay and I asked when I’d see him and they took my payment brought him out seconds later and put my dying pet who they already performed euthanasia on in my hands and passed away in my arms literally two seconds after. I am not only devastated with the death of my baby but the way it was handled. We agreed I would be able to see him before the process and you failed to do that and handed me my baby practically dead. I will never forget the last deep and hurtful sounds of his last breaths ever. I am truly devastated and have flashbacks of the time I was there. I hate this place and will never return. I believe we need our money back for the emotional damage this has caused my husband and I. Zero stars if possible.

I drive across town to see these vets even though there are a few other 4 & 5 stars vets within 5 minutes of me (including Sploot whom I’ve also reviewed- TLDR on that review: they’re just okay, in my opinion. The team at VCA CP is better). We were at the vet often the first few months I adopted my puppy, sometimes multiple times a week while she fought off some infections and had trouble with anxiety. Each time, the staff have all been so kind and patient with my fearful girl- giving her space and going slow if they can, even when it’s clear they’re busy. I won’t forget the compassion one of the receptionists showed me one fall day when I started crying from the stress of it all, emotionally and financially. I’ll be sad not to see her there anymore now that she’s moved. The team always works with me to ensure my pup gets the best treatment, and are honest when certain tests aren’t necessary or there’s a cheaper one they can do instead. Sometimes they even let me know where I can find certain products cheaper than with them. The vets and techs have all been slow and gentle with her, so much so that she started to doze off at Dr Hafer’s feet one day while we talked! She panics in any public space and this has been *the only time* she has ever been so relaxed in public, especially at the vet. We had never met Dr. Hafer until that appointment, so this speaks volumes to the vet’s demeanor and approach I think. Dr. Hafer was so patient and informative, really taking the time to explain Amaya’s issues in detail and answer all my questions. The other vets have been great as well- I think we’ve met with or talked to every vet at the practice by now and they’ve all provided the same level of care.I’m moving even further away soon to get my sensitive girl out of the busy city environment, but will continue to bring her to these lovely people when I do ?

Great customer service, thorough and kind compassionate people. A kitty only waiting area so as not to get unnerved by the dogs.
