April 2024 by Mary Poppinz
Riddled with unregulated chaos and drama, oversaturated with people to the point that some days there's nowhere to sit to wait. Waiting can take roughly 2 hours. Staff do not process paperwork in a timely fashion. Calling them takes just as long as waiting in person, and the call center employees are always giving misinformation.

Called at 3:27 on 12-26-23 and spoke with an extremely rude woman. I tried to explain that I was calling about my 10-16-23 application for social security benefits as I had not heard anything in writing or electronically from the Social Security Administration. She said "YOU ARE TALKING TO SOMONE" and when I began explaining she grunted and then hung up on me. REALLY, after working for 50 years and as a professional, tax paying citizen you would expect at least civil communications. I have no choice but to call back and hope to get a competent, civil person to help me. I would actually give ZERO stars if it was an option.

Called on 12-26-23 to follow up on my 10-16-23 application for Social Security benefits. The woman who answered was extremely rude and would not let me explain what I was calling about. When I tried a second time to explain she grunted and hung up on me. As a professional, tax paying citizen who has worked for 50 years I am horrified with this kind of treatment. I have no choice but to call back and hope to speak with a civil and competent person.I would rate zero stars if it was an option.

I have $10k in my account. I started from zero and penny pinched my way to here. Starving myself. Ignoring nutrition just to survive with $900 a month. I used my money wisely when I had it. I’m proud of myself for fulfilling so much I needed with so little. But the rest is still in my account and when a cold rush was coming to Colorado. I requested money to buy a coat. As I write this. I still have a sweater only. They said EMERGENCY cash assistance request take 60 days to be readSo if I buy a car for 3000.I’d like to keep 1000 in case of repairsOtherwise I’d be waiting 60 days for emergency cash to repair my used vehicleBut they won’t let me keep extra money for a situation like that. They want you to be their damsel in distress while they just sit in a chair and bask in feeling like a hero as validation they are cool existencesI went there to break everything down with them and get my life on the best track. They didn’t hear one thing I said and 100%, after everything I said, nobody there knew anything I was trying to get across. All they heard was money request and ignored everything else so they could pretend their job is easyThey act like they came there to get treated good, By ssa ppl with disabilitiesThen they ignore hearing about your disabilities as a defense mechanism to protect themselves from saying they ignored your disabilities)So if their boss ever says” why you treat this disabled person like this? They say “ I never knew about any of his disabilities, I just checked his name. He was on ssa and he requested extra money. Then he started interrupting and I showed him I could effect his life without getting in trouble and he can’t do anything about it.They think that that’s to be respectedBut nobody cares how bad you can be and get away with it. They need to focus on doing a better job for the American ppl instead of trying to gain ground on behalf of their families. They act like middlemen. They literally want more than their paycheck and they want to do less and still get paid the same. They want to basically do nothing all day and if a client walks in, they take it as disrespectful and expect you to feel lucky if they do their job. It’s like they seen a victim get help and they are mad they are strong and nobody will help the strong. So they pretend to be weak to reap the Benifits.Especially the women( little girls I call them)The supervisor pretended to listen. Then pretended I was interrupting wrongly but I was right it interject because everytime he spoke he was talking from a point of ignorance and ignoring everything I was trying to show him. They want to be the smartest in the room and establish that just so they get uninterrupted as if they really are saying everything to the tee. These are not good people. If the person likes you and your disabilities are something that doesn’t effect them or include them loosely. They might throw you a bone or two.Otherwise.They sit behind the glass and pretend they don’t understand you while they pretend your talking crazy or not making sense and if you say anything smart they have two ppl whispering in their ears that you can’t hear because of the glass and they just whisper tips for the clerk to defeat whatever line your trying to introduce. Then if you don’t let them silence you and defeat you. Then they just make you sit there for another hour til one of their friend clerks is available to tell you whatever they want their friend to do for youIf you’re still trying to be heard after they determine your bad kid. The call security claiming your bad and things are out of hand. But if you say they are bad. They all start protecting each other and they will deny as much about you as posssible. From security to conversation. To actual disabilities. They keep all issues in-house so they can protect each other no matter what any client has been through.I tried to report them but I always get one of their friends or when I call the national hotline. They just send you a form that takes 6 months for someone to read

It’s taken me 3 years to be able to finally fill out a disability form for SSI, because of my BPD and Cptsd with severe anxiety makes it extremely difficult to do any task. I get a call this morning and find out there is somebody using my SS# working. The agent started saying I have to call this, and call this, and call this, and fill the forms out. I start to panic I can feel me getting numb just trying to remember the first thing. I try and tell her do you know why it took me 3 years to fill out the form, and she said, no sir I don’t know you but I’m trying to help you.” I told her it’s because of my illness and then she kept on interrupting instead of actually listening to me, I finally got so upset I started to get shaky and explained to her it’s extremely difficult for me to do a lot of this, and if I can’t get it I can’t support my family. I have a little over a year that I survived a suicide attempt and I told her that I’m trying my hardest, crying exposing I need help. Then I hear a dial tone (she hung up on me) after I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor because she was very rude and unprofessional. Don’t know what to do now. Should I try and continue or keep on trying to get a job and lose them my first day because of trauma they did but my responsibility to fix it to help my family or be a burden. Gee thanks for the hope.

Service was fast and friendly. I wish I got the gentleman's name that helped me but...Above and Beyond! Despite the current state of downtown it was very clean and organized.

There is only one exterior entrance to the Social Security office. Social Security rents their space from the property manager. Social Security DOES NOT own the whole building. When you arrive, enter the glass sliding door directly under the Social Security Administration sign (see photos). DO NOT go through the other doors. ONLY the glass door under the Social Security Administration sign will get you to the office.Once you walk in, go to the elevator and go up to the second floor. Walk down the halls and it will take you to the actual office space. You will exit the same way you came in. However, only in case of emergency, you can use the fire escape.I wrote this just to help ya’ll not get lost!
