I got the best steak I’ve ever eaten at this place years ago, but just because it is grass fed and single animal butchery does not mean it is worth $45/lb. Maybe adjust price for the animal you butcher? Idk I was just wanting to treat myself and came away quite disappointed.

I love everything about WSD! The warm welcoming shop atmosphere, thoughtful product diversity featuring other local vendors and the knowledgeable staff. Everything about this place is top tier. I ordered half a hog share and I was impressed with the entire process start to finish. When you order a hog share or cow share from farms, they generally don't give you all the options and level of detail that you get when ordering through WDB. They go into a lot more detail about your cuts, your options and generally just level set expectations to avoid any surprises at pickup. These extra considerations are greatly appreciated. Every cut was FRESH, vacuum sealed and labeled. When you order from a farm they usually freeze everything. I thought the fresh element was very thoughtful. When I picked up my order I asked a slew of other questions about the beef they sell and Griffin was patient and extremely helpful. I've been a customer of WSD over the last 8 years or so and I'm always impressed with the consistency of the products they sell as well as the knowledge and expertise of their staff. Truly remarkable! Keep up the great work!

The one time I came to stop in and they’re closed “due to weather” when the rest of the city is open and business as usual. Wish these companies would at least update their online listings, websites, or voicemails to give people a heads up before we waste our time driving there. I’ll take my money elsewhere.

Traveled from LA in search of a Denver steak. The service was very helpful in advice of choice of cuts.

Honestly think they took advantage of my senior citizen parents over the weekend. They sold them two sad "T-bones" that did in fact have a T shaped bone but unfortunately there was literally zero meat on the tenderloin side. They had to buy two different steaks to go with the T-bones to feed all four of us because neither primal cut had enough for more than two thin steaks to be cut. The excuse was "we are out of meat until Thursday." I find that basically impossible to believe that a whole animal butcher has no meat.

You don't get much meat in the Mausoleum. So, we gotta get it at butchers like this place! And the store itself was pretty awesome, meats all fresh and chilling on their racks. With a wide variety of marinades, sauces and butters to accomodate any vooking curiosities. The dude who assisted us was on the money, too! He cut things to exact portions with no weighing. Then he rounded off our visit with a taste of their slow-cooked prime rib. Amazing stuff! Now the real problems are outside the store. The streets are just a mess to navigate, and everyone around here parks like a Californian. I mean, literally just stop anywhere and call it a human right levels of entitlement. We had to come from 5 blocks down because of the parking was so terrible. If they ever move, I'd support it wholly.

Excellent dry aged program at this butcher. Pictured are dry aged ribeye. We also took home some dry aged chop meat and bacon. Beautiful!

2023 update: Sat pop up fries and burgers are the best we’ve ever had - go!Organic? Safe? Grass fed? Knowledgable? Yup, you get that here. Plus, it is nice to walk in the door only knowing how to cook one thing (um, a hamburger) and be able to chat across the counter with friendly staff who directed me to a recipe. Best. Meal. Ever. If you come here every week, after a year, you 'll be a gourmet chef able to cook anything. I should know, I can cook five things now (including a skirt steak with lemon grass from the spice store down the hill).

The eggs are so good! We have made this a weekend tradition for us. We hang next door for a hit for eats and drinks (fantastic btw) then we head next door for the weeks meats, eggs and milk. Quality products and the people are great!

14 bucks a pound for sausage is insane. It’s literally pork and pork fat and seasoning. Anymore than 8 a pound is highway robbery. And $30 for one chicken. Crazy prices

I've come to this place several times now, and while the meat is an excellent quality some of the staff is not knowledgeable or experienced. Have them show you the cuts before they package them up. I came to get two porterhouse stakes for 4 people, brought them home, and opened up the package, the steaks were thin and definitely not a portion for two. Luckily we had time to get two more, but they cook much better when they are thick. Next time my husband went to get 6 fillets of 7-8 oz each. When he arrived home the cuts were all different sizes and shapes, ranging from 10-6 oz. We were beyond annoyed. For the price, I expect excellent quality and service.

Excellent quality meat and very friendly staff. Grass-fed beef is their main selling point and it is, of course, fantastic, but I was even more satisfied to learn they sell pasture raised, (partially) forage-fed pork here! Best rack of ribs I've ever had and it isn't close. Not remotely close.
