Great store and customer service. Love this place! They have great beans and great variety! Love the free popcorn, too...so good . Bought a lot of beans to bring home from our travels to give to friends and family. I've bought Anasazi beans for many, many years...but have never been to the mother ship....GREAT!

I went out of my way to come here for the Anasazi beans. I love that they come in burlap bags stamped with the business logo. We were on a road trip with an RV and I insisted we stop here because another review suggested going to the Canyons of the Ancients if we did this diversion- don't do that with an RV. But, I'm very happy we visited here. The woman behind the counter was super nice and I bought tons of seasoning, honey, flour (to make Navajo bread) and many different kinds of beans. I even purchased an apron made from the Blue Bird flour sacks. The have free popcorn too!

Did I really drive down from Moab just to come here for beans and flour? Yes. Yes I did! Why? Because Anasazi beans are the best and getting them fresh from the source is even better!! I got hooked on these beans after picking them up from a bulk basket at Henie's market near Denver. I also got my youngest hooked on them and have shipped her several pounds worth over the years since I moved here. They really are that good. I know it isn't a convenient place to visit but, if you are in the area visiting Mesa Verde or Canton of the Ancients, I recommend taking the little drive to visit. And you can make the short detour on the way to visit Cortez and the mill there for the flour rather than picking it up here. There's a small shop with beans, beans, and more beans but also, that great red rose and bluebird flour - those sacks are not just for storing the flour you know. They are wildly popular items to buy online to make other goods with. I bought the bluebird to try my hand at Indian fry bread and tortillas. I also picked up a 10 pound bag of beans and yes, the burlap bag was a happy part of that purchase! There also are some additional goodies from sauces, spices and seasonings to honey products and of course, some Adobe Milling merch!

I hope the Anasazi Beans are better than the popcorn I also just got today from Adobe Milling. I'm a popcorn connoisseur who eats this stuff five or more days of the week. But sadly I have to say this is some of the worst popcorn I have ever had. I had 15 to 20% unpopped kernels on the two batches I tried so far. I pop corn the old fashion with with oil and heat on the stove. Cheap store brand popcorn has done a better job for me than this brand did.

About 30 years ago we went camping out west. I saw Anasazi beans in a gift shop so I thought I try some. We have been hooked ever since. They are absolutely delicious & they produce less gas as promised. All their beans are exceptionally good. Their bolita beans are really, really good and their pinto & black beans are the best I have ever cooked with! They only complaint I have is the shipping cost; for us it just about doubles the price of a pound of beans. Coming from Illinois we can't just go to pick up a bag at Adobe store in Dove Creek or go to a local Colorado grocery store. The cost is prohibitive enough, (for us anyway) that I can only buy them as a treat periodically, However, I won't let that stop me from telling you how wonderful they and that they are certainly worth the purchase as much as your pocket book will allow.

We dropped by to pick up a variety of beans and had a wonderful experience with the woman who ran the shop and the teens who were helping her. We went home and made chili and it was wonderful! WONDERFUL and Flavorful!

I'm rating the beans! I've not been to the store because it's an 8 hr drive, but if I ever get to the other side of the mountains I'll def be visiting! I've only found the Anasazi beans in Walmart of all places. If you've not had them please try them. Imagine a sweeter, mellower, nuttier, better pinto bean! They're my fav bean of this sort. Also they're beautiful dried. I cook them simply after soaking for 24 hrs or until they smell fresh again(don't let them sprout), changing the water every 12 hrs. Then add to a pot with a water and set to boil. Let the scum form and scoop off. Reduce yo simmer, add a hearty spoonful of lard, yes lard(lard and beans are magical!), a teaspoon of Mexican oregano and maybe a chopped onion and garlic clove, salt and pepper. Eat with some of the broth, topped with rice and green onions and maybe cheese...so good. The beans can be used in chili or refried or salads etc! Also they're one of the more digestible beans. Esp if soaked! Soaking has zero to do with cooking time! It revives them and releases biotoxins into the water you pour off, making them more digestible and less gas causing. It's an ancient tradition to soak most grains, nuts and legumes. Seeds are ok. But the other 3 need to be properly prepared before eating and we're losing those food traditions while disease is on the rise and I don't think it's coincidence. So happy bean eating and try some Anasazi beans!
