I am an AVIS preferred member. I prepaid for a KIA and did not select the gas service option as I always fill the gas tank before returning. They charged me after the fact for gas service charge even though I returned with a full tank. I caught it when I was verifying my credit card statement. Very dishonest rental service.Update: After emailing the main AVIS customer service with proof I filled gas before returning, they refunded me the gas charge.

I experienced horrible service with this Avis location.I left prescription sun glasses (my fault) in the rental car we turned in. The car was immediately rented out w/o being checked inside. The man at the desk admitted this. He gave me a return date for the car. When I showed up on the return date, the car was on the lot, but had not yet been cleaned. A different man was at the desk. He knew about the glasses. There were no other customers needing help. He did not offer to go look or call the crew who washed and cleaned the cars. The car was immediately rented out again.They do not answer their phone; we drove out to the airport 3 times to ask about the car and glasses. Each time they admitted the car was rented out without being checked. Terrible service from Avis.

I travel a lot for work, so I've probably rented at least 200 rental cars over the last 20 years, and this was hands down, the worst customer service that I've ever experienced. Please, if you're renting a car in Durango, please use another agency. My wife and I were having a get away weekend for President's Day, and renting a SUV to get us back and forth from Pagosa Springs to Wolf Creek. If you've ever driven this in snow, you know you have to have good treads on your tires, and all-wheel or 4 wheel drive. Being that it was president's day, I guess there weren't a lot of options, so the only option I was given was a Jeep Compass; which is a super small SUV. Then the attendant informed me it was 2 wheel drive. AND, on top of it, had almost no tread on the front tires. Which is completely unsafe if you're driving anywhere in the state of Colorado. When I asked for something else, this was THE only option. The attendant was a complete jerk. To the point, I wandered if he was just angry at something else that had happened that day. I tried to go with another company, but getting in on Friday, most of the cars were already rented with other companies. After driving with the car for 2 days, since I was staying in Southern Colorado a few more days, I asked to trade it in since the weekend was almost over and there would surely be more inventory. I even told them that I didn't feel safe driving with those tires, and he wanted to then charge me another $10 a day to trade the car in for something that was the same exact size. I am absolutely shocked that this is a national company that I've used before and they allow this type of customer service at any of their locations. And then when I asked to get his name, he wouldn't provide it to me, and wouldn't provide his manager's name either. Congratulations guys, worst customer experience of any car rental company I've used before.UPDATE: I had to drive this vehicle through the state of Colorado to get to Denver, then they traded it out for an upgraded vehicle, but did not discount anything for the poor service and dangerous tires. PLUS, they charged me $300 for an empty gas tank, which I had to send in the receipt of the gas I paid for before dropping the car off. Just a crazy, horrible customer service experience with this company.

Horrible service. Upon arrival, the person at the desk could not have been less helpful. We were pre-booked/prepaid. The man would not listen and just kept saying he couldn’t see anything if it was booked through a third party. We weren’t booked through a third party but he wasn’t listening to that. We ended up providing a credit card because he was so clearly unwilling to do anything besides look at the printed piece of paper in front of him. We were then supposed to have been given the keys to a Jeep Gladiator in spot 10. When we got to the parking lot, we had the keys to a Jeep Grand Cherokee in a different spot. We told the desk and they said “just take that one.” This car was fine, just odd he couldn’t give us the right car/keys. At the time of return, we again wanted to check the account the car was to be charged to as well as confirm return since our paperwork had the license plate and information for the Jeep Gladiator. No one was at the desk. There was a sign that said “be back soon.” We waited 30 minutes and no one returned. I called twice to see if someone was in the back and would answer but the phone was not answered. We ended up returning the keys and writing in the correct license plate. There were other people waiting as well that needed to verify things about their rental but, like us, ended up having to return the keys and move on so they wouldn’t be late for their flight. Overall, terrible customer service. Might as well just be a kiosk since the humans apparently have no information aside from a pre-printed list when they’re is even someone at the desk.

Terrible agency. Desk is often empty and whoever owns the agency has zero care for customer service. Also juice people on gas even when you turn it in full, then make you jump through hoops to get any credit if you are willing to go through phone hell with them.

Just experienced by far the worst experience with Avis and car rentals in general. Had an interaction with an employee that said his name was “Cinny” in Durango Colorado on 12/22/23 between 5 and 5:30. He was overcharging for a vehicle after he had already given a set price. When was questioned about it the response was very unprofessional and extremely rude. Even the guy from National heard the interaction and questioned why the employee was acting in the manner he did. Not good customer service at all. Will not be renting from Avis and recommending my company not to rent from Avis at this point forward.

Avis was good about everything but the tire pressure. One tire was at 22lbs and the other three were at 33. All of them were supposed to be at 44. Overall the experience was great.

The attendant was helpful, friendly, and didn't put pressure to take insurance other than my own. The car was impecably clean and ran beautifully up the mountain passes. Great time.

Worst rental car company !!! Conflicting info on the web left us stranded in Colorado. Would not tank a bank debit card that is approved to be taken on the web info. Left us out in the cold!!!

We showed up 30 minutes prior to a 24 hour rental. We were instructed to drop our keys in the drop box due to line. Today, we find we have been double charged. 2 days and a late fee.

Made online reservation and was kept up to date right up to when I got off the plane and walked up to the counter. Right away was as told there was an upgrade available that I was happy with.

My Avis rental car (Toyota RAV 4) was clean & up to the task of negotiating the steep mountain roads required to reach my destination. Car pick up & drop off at Durango airport was quick & very easy. First time renting from Avis but I will do it again if the need arises.

Excellent service and nice staff hadn't planned to work with them but was a huge improvement over Enterprise. Might use them again would be excellent if they offered pick up service

I had two great experiences here. The first when I picked up on 06-08-23. Pickup was quick and easy. Then right after I returned the rental on 06-12-23, United cancelled all of our flights causing me to rent another car and drive to Denver to catch a flight home. I'm not sure of the gentleman's name (wears glasses, long beard) but he was very helpful to myself and other customers in the same predicament. The drop off in Denver was super easy too. Well done Avis and the man with the great beard!
