As a local here in Durango, CO, I’ve been shopping at Pine Needle Mountaineering for years, and they never disappoint. Whether I’m replacing a worn-out piece of gear or prepping for a big trip, this is my go-to spot. The quality of the gear they carry is always top-tier, and they consistently have good deals on both essentials and specialty items.
Most recently, they helped me get ready for a trek in Europe. The staff offered thoughtful, practical advice drawn from real experience. That level of customer service is rare and something I truly value.
Durango is lucky to have a shop like Pine Needle. It’s clear they care about the community and about getting people outside with the right tools and knowledge. Whether you're local or just passing through, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

I was psyched to find the new tent I wanted and the sales staff that was courteous, knowledgeable and allowed me and my daughter to set it up ourselves, then ask relevant questions. Great store, always has been!

Customer service was impeccable. We brought kids in while shopping for snow weather gear and they were very understanding of kids being kids which made for an easier experience for us all around.

The knowledgeable staff went out of their way to help my wife select her first set of Nordic ski equipment. Due to her small stature the poles needed to be custom cut, and that got done in just a few days.

They have the product we wanted but no first responder or military discount. When we asked the Cashier he was super smug & impolite. His name was Drew & he seemed like a Matthew Mc McConaughey wannabe who trys to make ppl feel bad. Like he couldn't be bothered to work the cash register :/

Very rude and unhelpful staff. I'm surprised in a tourist town, they would not want to make their store welcoming and be excited to make sales. I'm guessing their owners don't care either because I've seen some negative reviews before but they disappear to keep their five star rating. Would rather not support local and go to REI if this is the treatment myself and friends would receive.

Walked in a few weeks ago after my wife had foot pain after skiing in rental boots. The staff spent almost 2 hours with us and recommended the perfect boot. Zero pain since and plenty of fun out on the slopes. Great place to check out if you're looking for high end outdoor gear

Just had my skis remounted they did a great job, communicated well with me about considerations in the positioning of the bindings and finished them early. Always great customer service when I stop in.

One of the best outdoor shops in town, they were one of two places that had the right jig to remount my radical bindings. They got it done fast too, considering there were a bunch of people in the queue ahead of me. Love the shop and would reccomend Pine Needle over others in Durango
