Very rude and unhelpful staff. I'm surprised in a tourist town, they would not want to make their store welcoming and be excited to make sales. I'm guessing their owners don't care either because I've seen some negative reviews before but they disappear to keep their five star rating. Would rather not support local and go to REI if this is the treatment myself and friends would receive.

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the amazing employees at Pine Needle. Sanford, Ashley and others truly went out of their way to help me get in contact with a lost earring purchased at their store. They reached out to the jeweler and coordinated a means of reaching her for assistance. They didn't need to do anything, but they CHOSE to help someone (me) out who was not in a position to benefit them in the least. Superior customer service!!! Thank you one and all at Pine Needle Mountaineering

I went in looking for a beginner backpacking set up and had an amazing fitting experience with Amanda! She was super knowledgeable, attentive and answered all my questions. I left feeling confident in picking out the right pack and size to meet all my backcountry needs. I will definitely return to Pine Needle again for future gear - thank you!

The employees and management are friendly and helpful but the ownership is horrendous! This is by far one of the worst places to work in Durango. The owners are liars, disrespectful, unappreciative, and downright rude. Not to mention how they think they are better than everyone else and will favor those who kiss up to them and live similar "financial" lives. They refuse to pay people a living wage who have workedfor them for a year or more. They hire people on making more than the restof the employees who have more experience and work extremely hard. They lie to make themselves feel and look better when someone quits. I have heard several stories of former employees and all have the same outcome.. they were not appreciated, they were disrespected, they were talked down to, and ultimately stood up for what they deserved and the ownership's ego got the best of them. I would not support this store or their other location. Why put money into the pockets of people taking multiple high dollar vacations a year when they can't even pay their employees a living wage, let alone, even slightly respect them.

I needed a new pair of gloves...called ahead to see if they had what I wanted...talked to an exceptionally nice guy who told me exactly how to find the store...I was traveling through...arrived & not 1 but 2 great employees greeted me enthusiastically!!! found my gloves, got extra help & was very pleased to see great interactions by the employees with others as well!!! Would DEFINITELY recommend this place!!!!

I've been at this store several times this week looking for a approach shoes and have had an excellent experience with the staff. After my first shoes failed, they credited me with store credit and spent over 30 minutes trying to help me find a shoe that fit. They also price-matched us. This is definitely the place we will come back to anytime we are in town.

We have just visited the store, the customer service is beyond excellence. The variety of goods is outstanding! We were able to find everything we need in just once store, how amazing it is! We highly recommend this place and we certainly will be back!

Large mountaineering shop with knowledgeable staff. A guide book rental library is a fantastic edition to any outdoor community which is rare and much appreciated.
