“It took awhile for the right kitten to be available for adoption, and since I’d never had a pet before I considered purchasing a kitten out of impatience and allergies, but my experience at Eagle County Animal Services completely changed my mind.
I already found it hard to justify the cost of purchasing a kitten (usually $1,000+), but when I learned about all the included benefits of adopting I will likely never consider purchasing a pet again. $150 for a sweet, allergy-friendly Russian blue Mix kitten, with shots, neutering, a starter kit, and a free post-adoption vet visit. I got all of her previous medical records and exams. They also have a seven day, no questions asked return policy if the animal isn’t a good fit, which I do wish was just a little longer since cats take longer to come out of their shell but I still think it’s more than fair.
I hadn’t realized how much this shelter does for the community, and I couldn’t be happier with my kitten. Adopt don’t shop! Oh and if you want to support the shelter, buy them items from their amazon wishlist, don’t donate to the general fund because the county can redistribute those donations!”
