Eldorado Canyon State Park is a hidden treasure and jewel right in Boulder’s backyard. It is a great and well-kept state park with magnificent, gorgeous, and beautiful scenic views. The park offers a variety of several trail options with well-marked trails, including Rattlesnake Trail and Fowler Trail. Activities include hiking amidst the towering sandstone cliffs, rock climbing on the sheer golden walls and red rocks, fishing, and picnicking along scenic South Boulder Creek by the stream. There is a great picnic area, a Visitor Center, and facilities with restrooms at the trailheads. Staff are very helpful. A vehicle fee applies. From May to September, timed entry reservations are required on weekends and holidays. The drive upon entering is a bit tricky on a dirt road. Dogs are allowed on leash.
We'll be back with our six kids! Easily spent four hours there, but better to visit on a weekday.
