Every time we go during posted "open" hours, they are closed. Yes, we check the website before we go. Extremely frustrating.

Over and over again, closed when should be open. How environmentally friendly is it to have all of these individual auto journeys to the recycling center just to find it closed again. This more than just an inconvenience, it is fundamentally broken and counterproductive.

Love that we can bring yard waste there now along with the rest of the recycling material.

Edited to increase rating: Haven't noticed as many unexpected or un-announced closures. Thanks for doing better!Old 1-star review: Same experience as others. Show up during "open" hours and they have a semi-permanent sign that says "closed for emptying." No alerts, no info on website, nothing on the recorded line I called ahead of time. Despite every effort I made to confirm it was open before coming, it was still closed. Huge waste of my time and a quick way to tick people off.

Good recycling but hard to get yard waste into containers currently. I think they are building a platform soon.

You can never trust they will be open during their scheduled open times. Have went there multiple times over various weekends and it is always closed. Have given up on this place and just taking to Boulder because they are larger and much more reliable.

I wanted to post a note about the folks who work at the facility. I've interacted with Caleb several times and he has been helpful assisting me with large compost items and I've suggested how things could be improved. I then met Eryka (sp?) and Dylan who were covering for Caleb one day. I believe the staff is trying to do the best they can with the resources they have. I think the public can do more to help them. I find many people just dump stuff in the blue bins without really understanding what can/cannot be recycled. Stuffing large cardboard boxes in the blue bins and not the cardboard compactor doesn't help either. One person told me that the cardboard goes to the same place as the regular recycling, so she didn't make an effort to separate it. Well, it prevents more regular recycling to fit in the blue bins. Make an effort to push/toss your items towards the back and sides of the blue bins, away from the opening. That will allow others to put more items in the bins. Half the time the bins look full because the opening is stuffed, but I'm sure there is more room in the back and the sides. Lastly, if the bins are full, don't dump your stuff on the ground - come back another time.I understand the center is not always open and that can be frustrating, but you can sign up to receive notices when it's closed. I've lived here a long time and I used to drive to Longmont or Boulder. We should be glad we have the facility in town. We are all responsible adults and these folks were not hired to police and clean up after us. Please make an effort to support them. It would be sad to lose this service.

Good place, haven't ran into issues with closures, but since it's a city gov facility expect it to be closed on all holidays. They also post on their website when it's closed so I'd look there before going and not just trust Google has it correct.

Same experience as everyone else I guess. Have went here 3 times in the last 2 weeks and has been closed every time.I went to check on it today 11/2 and it was open. There is a pile of leaves which is what I would expect to see this time of year. I would have only assumed that this is where you dump leaves but there is a sign there that says "this is illegal dumping, do not dump here or your plate will be reported to the police."It is very odd to me to put your leaves in the dumpsters?I am not impressed with the set up and have been frustrated every time I come here. As an Erie resident for 20 years, and with the growth you think we could do better?

At this point it seems they've given up on adjusting for the growth in Erie. Went today to see one small compactor for cardboard after they had two large ones (they downsized?!) An employee told me "The compactor is full" and when I asked when it would be emptied they said "I don't know." Guess I'll be driving out of my way to recycle now!

Theoretically a good place. However, two years in a row now, they advertise open 7 days a week and then close without warning. I now have a 15 foot Christmas tree strapped to the roof of my car and no place to take it. It would have been more professional...if they have to close, to provide an alternate drop spot to give people a chance to avoid a second trip.

Great when it’s open! Grateful to have it in Erie.

Great to have an option in town for dropping off recycling when our bins fill up too fast.

I have come 3 days in a row, multiple times throughout their posted hours only for it to be closed EVERY time I go. It’s closed for “emptying” which cannot possibly take 3 days

There aren't enough recycle pods, they never empty them when they're supposed to, they are ALWAYS jammed with cardboard, and there's yellow jackets everywhere. The residents of Erie care about recycling, but the town government obviously doesn't.
