Prather's Market is the only major grocery store in Fairplay, Park County. It is a good supermarket with a fantastic and broad selection for a small store in a small mountain town. The store is very clean. Reviews highlight excellent meat and bakery options at great prices, often better than specialty grocers in bigger cities. The fruits and vegetables are fresh, though some note produce can turn fast. The staff is wonderful, friendly, helpful, and seems happy. It is a delightful place to visit. As the only grocery store in the area, it is a bit pricey and expensive, with high prices on frozen and pantry items. This is expected due to added transportation costs and low volume in a tiny mountain town. Customers should be prepared to purchase bags, as they do not provide plastic ones. Despite the prices, the convenience, quality, and friendly service make it a valued community resource.
Staff here is extremely helpful. Came in minutes before closing and rather than turning me out, they helped me get what I needed and on my way quickly.
