Please do NOT take your pet here, the other reviews of they might die is true. My usual vet was closed and calling the afterhours line they suggested West Ridge Animal Hospital as the closest option. Our 16 month old Great Dane/ Pit Bull was hit by a truck and was scratched up pretty badly. I was worried he was hurt more than letting on as he was licking his back leg and would not lay down. My biggest regret was not reading reviews and trusting the afterhours vet who suggested this place. I called, explained what happened and they asked if he was shaking which he was. They stated they wanted him to come in immediately. When we arrived I called the number, informed them what spot we were in and about 5 minutes later a young man came out. He used his phone light to shine it on his injuries to which our dog did not respond well to and began growling at him. He asked me to restrain him so he could get a closer look. I held my dog while he looked then he stood up and ran inside saying he was going to get a room ready. A few minutes later he came back out to let us know the room was ready. He kept mentioning as we walked in that he looked fine and was able to walk appropriately. My dog would not let him approach him, he continued to growl and even nip. The Vet came in, explained that he was the best looking dog he'd seen that was struck by a car. He went on to explain because he was so frightened that he would recommend giving him a pain killer. He said it's standard practice to give this and that he might throw up but will be fine. I should have never agreed to that. After giving the shot, our dog began drooling and breathing heavy to which they stated was normal. They said it would last up to 4 hours. We waited in the room for over 20 minutes before they returned and began extending his limbs and looking at his wounds. Afterwards, he stated the dog looked good and he had no major concerns. We commented on the excessive drooling to which they stated was normal due to the pain meds. They explained that they would give us an anti-inflammatory and get us on our way. They asked if we had any questions and I said I was mostly concerned about internal bleeding. He stated we could do X-rays for safe measure. I asked for his opinion to which he said he didn't think there was major concern and didn't think an X-ray was needed. We live about 40 minutes away from this place. The bill was 250 dollars. We drove home, he seemed content in the back seat. As soon as we got home he wanted to lay outside to which we thought was not normal. It's freezing today in Colorado. We then coaxed him in where we tried to feed him and he had no desire to eat. He laid on the floor drooling excessively and attempting to throw up. All of which they said was normal. After the 4 hours his breathing seemed to stabilize and the drugs appeared to wear off. He was completely loopy, large pupils and breathing heavy. I tried to get him to drink water or eat where he had no desire to. I tried to call the vet back and they were closed. I then noticed he had defecated on himself. I went to get a towel to clean him up and when I returned he wasn't breathing. I attempted to give CPR and dialed 911 where they stated they don't help with pets. I called an emergency animal clinic that was 45 minutes away, and we sped the entire way there. He was pronounced dead. The vet from the emergency clinic asked us tons of questions about his care and though he was wearing a mask, after each time I mentioned what they had did he would raise his eyebrows. They do not care about the safety of you loved pets. We may never know what really killed him but we believe it was that pain killer they gave him or a missed internal bleeding from the accident.

I have a 15 month old pup that has a busted tooth he lost with the root stuck below the gum line. They told me that even with it stuck below the gum line it wasn't an emergency to have it pulled even though it's so painful that he freaked out and had an accident in the house. They said that oh well let's get him scheduled for surgery he needs a little bit of sedation and to have the route pulled out that's it and they weren't willing to do it.

DO NOT COME HERE. What the ????? Took my turtle to get a beak trim, they brought him back to me, I paid and then looked at him. His beak hadn't even been touched. They didn't even tell me they couldn't trim his beak and still charged me! I told the tech to bring him back in and cut his beak. At this point, I've been sitting in my car for 40 minutes... they bring him back out and said they couldn't do his beak trim. I asked for my money back and the girl said she never charged me even though I have the receipt in my hand for the charge. An hour later in my car.. worst vet experience I have ever had. Dont ever take your exotic animals here or any animal here in general. This place is not ok. All complete idiots. ALSO, I waited two weeks for this appointment.

Primary vet advised me my dog needed to be seen by a cardiologist or pericardia on Friday like now and recommended I call petcardia right away as my dog was suspected of being in heart failure. So I called them right away Friday knowing they aren't open until Monday at 8 am get a call back at 8 am advised to come in call the emergency let them know what is going on at 9:30am and I'm on my way. Arrived at 10am still waiting and now it is 5:30pm my dog still hasn't been seen. 2:00 pm was almost released as fine without seeing her charts or the cardiologist and no one in emergency seems to know what is going on. I've checked in and explained each time at 8 am when they called, 9:30am when I called 10:30am, 11:am, 2:08pm and 3:08 pm and now 5:00pm! 7pm still here. Told my dog was fine in oxygen so that meant no heart failure so that is why no one saw her until now. Her hypertension has just gotten significantly worse and she isn't oxygenating well and pets are seen as worse case first. Ok. I have watched dogs with a limp come and go.

Very unimpressed. We took our kitten here because she was having seizures. They were happening very frequently and they began her on a medicine that was going to take ONE-TWO months before it goes into effect. Clearly unacceptable for a kitten who started having seizures nearly every 15 minutes. We took her to Pets Emergency Clinic later in the day and the vet there immediately loaded her up on seizures medicine to try to lessen her seizure activity. I will never be taking another animal to this clinic. When an animal is in emergency, they deserve the most thorough care possible. Not to mention, we spent an extreme amount of money to find out no information.

We really enjoyed our experience. They took great care of my pregnant dog, extra covid precautions taking her in alone. We will definitely be back!

I signed up for Yelp solely to discourage rodent owners from seeking care at West Ridge (I only went here because Sheep Draw did not have an available exotic vet appointment for this week). I adopted a month-old patchwork rex rat from a breeder who specified that the rat was one month old. He was incredibly small and could fit in the palm of my hand. He's been growing rapidly and is now about two months old, and less than half the size of my two-year old rat. The vet insisted that he was fully grown. This was odd because he is clearly very small for a rat and my primary vet at Sheep Draw, the breeder, and other rat owners all agree he is about two months old now. When I tried to politely explain this to the vet, she replied: "well, do YOU think he's going to get any bigger?" Absolutely! There's no way he's full grown and it's unsettling that a vet would not know that. She also noticed that he had a bite wound from my other adult male rat (it's normal for male rats to fight, especially since they are not neutered) and she suggested separating them. This was shocking to me as basic rat owners all know that rats are pack animals and *must* be in pairs or they else can suffer, and die early, from depression. This lack of basic rat knowledge and unwarranted rude comment were surprising to me and frustrating as I had been waiting in my car for over an hour with only one other car in the parking lot. Maybe this particular vet is not experienced with rats or exotic animals because this is not the response I received from the exotic vet at Sheep Draw. I will also add that in September, one of my rats was suffering from tumors and sadly needed to be put down. I would have gone to Sheep Draw instead if I had known better at the time. After the euthanasia, the vet tech came into the room and just put my dead rat in my hands. I was incredibly distraught and was shocked to have to ask for a box for him... Overall, I would strongly suggest seeking an appointment with an exotic vet at Sheep Draw instead of West Ridge if you are looking for care for your rodent. On a positive note, Shannon at the front desk of West Ridge is very pleasant and helpful!!

I cannot thank you all enough! You stayed open late by 30 minutes on a week night to take care of my puppy! She ate a pill bottle and I was beside myself worried about if she ate any of the pills themselves. You all graciously stayed open and took her in 5 min after your closing time. You were kind and professional and comforting to me! We will be re establishing all of our pets care to this office. Thank you thank you thank you!

Very, very unprofessional. Sat in car while waiting for appointment. Called to let them know I was there. Watched every animal go in as my appointment time came and went. Went to the door to ask what was going on. Was told that I was being unprofessional and to wait. Waited for another 20 minutes, which is now almost an hour past appt time. Went back to door, knocked, and was told they had emergency with a pet. When I asked why all the other pets were taken back, she told me that I was not welcome there anymore. Fromt desk teenager, can't handle confrontation and I asked for my pets records now. Received them and they are now in awesome veterinarian clinic. Please, take pets elsewhere

Dr. combs and West Ridge Animal Hospital are extremely unprofessional, non responsive and do not give good care to your pet. I highly advise AGAINST taking your bird here. I had my cockatiel seen by Dr. Combs on 6/31/2020 and based on physical examination alone was told my bird likely has a terminal liver problem. This was deducted by a small blood spot on his beak (not a common way of diagnosing a liver problem) and looking at his feces. My bird was given antibiotics. I called West Ridge several times about my bird's symptoms worsening it took Dr. Combs 3 days to respond. I made a preemptive follow up appointment upon completing the course of antibiotics. Dr. Combs advised me not to do a follow up and instead asked me to send a picture of stool and weight of my bird and stated we could do a telemedicine appointment. I did send the information then I never heard from Dr. Combs again or the staff at the hospital. 16 days have now passed and I still have not heard back from the hospital despite emailing the office and calling. I scheduled my bird for an appointment with another vet and emailed West Ridge to ask they kindly send his records over. The appointment came and unsurprisingly the records were not sent. Dr. Combs couldn't be bothered to follow up with me after telling me my bird may be dying nor could his office send over the records of the minimal treatment he received so my bird can get the care he deserves. Birds can become gravely ill in a days time. If you want your bird to get well take them to a vet where you can actually get treatment or at least a phone call in that time. The front desk at West Ridge confirmed today that all of my correspondence with the office and with Dr. combs had been received and was present in Bird's chart. So these problems were not due to clerical errors or due to not receiving the messages. Including the request to send over the records. My new vet also called for the records but was unable to obtain them. My new avian vet confirmed my bird does NOT have a liver problem. Nor does he have any other terminal illness but is rather showing signs of sour crop which is a problem related to yeast overgrowth. I had told Dr. Combs I thought my bird was showing signs of sour crop which is what I originally had him seen for.I highly suggest Broomfield Veterinary Hospital for an Avian Vet. They are kind, professional, responsive and extremely competent in treating your feathered friends. I also highly suggest Dr. Abernathy at Family Pet Hospital in Longmont as a veterinarian for dogs and cats. Don't risk it with your bird by taking them to West Ridge. Waste of time which can be fatal and a waste of money.

Go in for check up for my dog took over an hour and half They seem to be more worried about the money than the quality or importance of care We are finding a new vet ASAP

In my opinion, West Ridge Animal Hospital is pricing themselves out of business. It's too bad because they do offer a great service. You just need to have a fat pocket book to go there. Watch for add on services $$$$ that are not necessary!

I have to say that when I first took my dog here (only once), it wasn't my best experience. Long wait time, and pricing seemed high. With that said, this has been an amazing place to take my exotic animals. I have had two great experiences taking my snakes here. Just yesterday I took my boa in to get her checked out. I was in the door pretty quickly, seen by a tech after a few minutes, and then by Dr. Castaneda pretty quickly after that. This place also offers after hours, which I had to do since I work long hours during the day. Price wise for the exotic animal treatment and check-up was really great. I got two X-rays done and the physical examination, both costing less than I had expected. Every experience I have had there has had really friendly staff, and I haven't met a single grump there. It feels very down to earth. As many Vet places don't do exotic animal stuff, I feel lucky to have found a place that does, and does it well. I thought it was even better that Dr. Castaneda had a background working with the exact species of animal I brought in. I was truly impressed by her and those working with her! I would recommend this place to anyone needing an exotic animal looked at.

Don't bring your pets here, they might DIE due to looooooooooooooooooooong WAIT time, and you see staff DIDDLY DADDLING around, even with appointment and urgent status. If you love your pets, go somewhere else. We've been to many vets and never had this BAD of an experience.

I am surprised at some of the negative reviews on West Ridge. I have had 2 different Labs treated on multiple occasions, from routine exams and minor ailments to treatment for a spinal condition, a knee replacement and unfortunately end of life care due to a cancer. I have never experienced anything but efficient, organized and compassionate care and have no reservations about them caring for my animals. No, they are not the cheapest. But I have no issue paying for quality care in a quality facility for my pets. I highly recommend them.
