I had to take off stars because Avis reservation system / agent did have a way for me to return my rental for an 8:30 am flight at Eagle / Gypsum Airport. The agent said there was no after hour drop box. I called the local Avis office and was immediately told they did have an after hour drop box. How can such a basic return option not be in the reservation system?

staff not understanding of business situations while traveling, deposits should be made thru whatever booking service used, when you turn in vehicle you should not have to be the one to run all the way back to vehicle to grab mileage, they can easily do that while cleaning car upon delivery.

Spoke to then on the phone. When we got there they didn't have a car. We had Ubered from Avon in order to rent the car. They had much more expensive rentals. Unreasonable pricing. Ended up renting a car from Dollar Rent a car.

There were 3 agents available at the Eagle County Regional Airport! I've been to major cities that are not staffed as well. By using my Wiard number they were prepared for my arrival and I was off the airplane and in my car in 5 minutes.

This is a dishonest company that should not be allowed to do business in this hard-working country. I reserved a small car through Priceline for $31/day and made the trip from Moab to Grand Junction to pick up the car. On arrival, I was told that the reserved car was not available, and offered me an upgrade for $105/day (more than 3 times what I had reserved). Priceline customer service clearly said over chat that "The counter is supposed to upgrade you to the next car class for free if the reserved car class is not available". The manager on-site repeatedly lied to me about 1) having no other car except a 7-seater with a cracked windshield that was 4x more expensive than the small car I had reserved (I later found a lot full of cars and a queue of people with reservations afterward) 2) having tried to reduce the upgrade fee by talking to his superior (didn't see him making any calls while I was figuring out my options - I realized I had none) 3) having called Priceline repeatedly over the course of the day to not send them any more customers since they had no cars to rent (Priceline denies this)I realized from talking to both companies that this is standard practice - Priceline makes deals that don't exist to bait customers to this location, where at the Avis counter, the managers have been trained to do this con-job of extorting the customers into renting vehicles which are otherwise unrentable (see previous reviews as well) by pointing out (correctly) that there are no other options since only airport locations are open and other honest rental companies are out of vehicles at that time. Since the alternative was to cancel my weeklong vacation starting at an Airbnb hundreds of miles away, I eventually forked out the extra bucks for the upgrade that should have been free, with a sick feeling knowing that I was paying someone who had successfully conspired to cheat me.

Easily booked, pick up exceeded all expectations, due to weather I requested an additional day - was charged almost double! When I returned the vehicle, the representative was hard to find and very rude... The first representative set the bar so high, the vehicle was perfect - a wrangler! But, the drop off kind of ruined the whole experience!

Update: Avis got back to me and offered me a satisfactory compensation, which I am surprised and happy about. Winter tires are still a must at ski locations, manufacturers recommendations on all season tires are not applicable for winter driving in CO.The clerk refused a preferred plus upgrade while the cars were available.The car was not equipped with winter tires, a must have for this location in the winter. The heated seats were not functional and the trunk lid spring and support did not work (trunk wouldn’t stay open)

I recently rented a car from Luke at National, and I have to say, my experience was nothing short of amazing! My flight was very delayed and I didn't have a pre-reserved reservation. Rented me a 4 wheel drive with bald tires/life threatening drive in an unsafe car. After Avis read my reviews they credited me $30 of a $130 total rental. That is lame . The agent checking me in said “how could they rent you a car like that!”. I guess a threatening drive over 2 mountain passes in the snow is not worth a free rental. Shame on them….

Avis overcharged. The final charge was 3x the initial estimate. Don't recommend Avis. Rent a car from elsewhere.

Avoid renting here. I did not get the car I rented, and the one I did get was dirty on the inside. Also, I filled it up at the closest gas station to the airport, and then they charged me $16 for fuel when I returned it! Scam. I should also note that there is no one to check in--you have to fill out a form and drop it in the lockbox.

Great rental experience. Friendly staff and clean newer car which was an upgrade. Return experience was great too..
