The airport is small but runs very smoothly. The food is super expensive. I paid $20 for a small hamburger and small bag of chips.

Very small airport. You must exit airplane on Ramp to Tarmac, so dress for cold weather since you can get cold outside. Strangest thing is existing airport have no way to go out unless you exit when your airplane arrives. So don't delay leaving or will get stuck begging security to let you out. Tried out both restaurants, and 3 Wire was not bad, but I did have to exit outside secure area to get there. Employees were kind and helpful. Also, the airport is a long way from Steamboat and closer to Craig, which is not the main destination but women sitting next to me was actually going going to Craig to visit her son but that was very abnormal. Views are nice of mountains during flight so for that and sking is a great destination.

Nice and easy TSA. Laid back and quiet waiting areas.

TSA was incredibly rude for no reason. There was virtually no line and the airport overall was not very busy so I see no reason why they came off as condescending and fed up with absolutely everything that I did. They told me they would have to pat me down since I could not remove my hoodie (I was not wearing a shirt underneath) I said that was completely fine and was cooperative, however the agent that went on to pat me down was unnecessarily rude and literally yelled at me because I faced the wrong way for the initial pat down. I felt incredibly disrespected and uncomfortable when I then had to be pat down by the same agent that had just scolded me for no good reason.

Today was my first visit to Yampa Valley, and I was sadly disappointed with the actions and words of Sadie Dunckley, who was representing Southwest Airlines. I was later told by a Southwest employee that Sadie was a contract worker, but today, she wore the Southwest uniform. I'm writing this review for the benefit of her employers at the airport and will also contact Southwest airlines with the same information so they can make an informed choice regarding her contract. The plane we were supposed to board at 11:40 today never made it due to mechanical issues. As a seasoned traveler, I know this stuff happens, and it didn't upset me. I even spent some of my time in a line of over 50 people conversing with the gate attendants and telling them the story of how my wife of 36 years and I met on a Southwest flight almost 38 years ago. After waiting well over an hour, and finally 4th in line, an apparently oblivious man just walked up out of the blue and started asking questions of Sadie. When it became apparent she was also oblivious, I kindly asked the man if he had an emergency situation because he had just cut the line in front of around 25 people who had been in line over an hour. The man was very apologetic, but Sadie saw fit to speak over him and tell me in a condescending tone that he had a "stand-by" issue. I just looked at her blankly trying to process why that made him a priority, but she continued "if you want to keep it up with that attitude I'll send you to the back of the line". I was so stunned. And when I looked back over my shoulder to the other passengers, those that had overheard were open-mouthed with surprise. Her response was over the top with rudeness and completely inappropriate. I've owned my own business for over 30 years and have hired and trained 100s of people in sales and customer service. Some don't have the self-esteem to handle authority and can sometimes be promoted beyond their abilities. I'm not interested in Sadie being disciplined, but she may need a guiding hand and a bit of retraining to remind her of how best to use her speech and limited authority when representing Yampa Valley and Southwest.

Small, 2 eating areas. Staff all wear ALOT of hats, so be kind.

Landed on time which is only reason for 3 stars. Sat on tarmac for nearly 45 mins waiting on ground crew to finish loading and pushing back another plane. Another plane was also deboarding so baggage claim was jammed with only 2 flights. Expected Uber/lyft and other ride services would be readily available like Jackson WY. We were absolutely wrong. Book in advance! We ended up paying $60 per person for a shared shuttle, one way, and Waited another hour for the shuttle. Overall, the airport desperately needs expansion and the ride service to Steamboat needs to be affordable and improved for every day ppl.

We had to exit the plane via an open air ramp during a snow squal which made the ramp slick and dangerous

The Waystation at the airport employs those with visible anti-Christian signage displayed proudly. Christians don’t appear to be welcome here.

Needs self check kiosks in better locations and to be operational to help with the attendants. Most of the travelers could have been a quick bag swap for the attendants but they had to print the baggage strips and then attach them along with trying to help answer questions. The staff was helpful throughout though

Fantastic regional airport with nice staff and awesome direct access from EWR via United. Followed the suggestion of local friends and arrived three hours early and had no issues whatsoever. TSA has new scanners and had all lanes open. Food could use some value improvement in terms of quality vs price-the $17 breakfast burrito and $5.50 coffee were mediocre at best but your only choice so come prepared.

Quick and easy from checking in, TSA, to boarding. This time they had more employees helping out to make everything go smoothly. Great job! ?

Quick, easy. TSA can be very picky.
