UPDATED 11.27.2023Lakeside is a family tradition that has survived divorce, cancer, and our children's tougher years. Now the kids are adults, starting families of their own right at Lakeside: our youngest was proposed to there recently!!! ?Wish they cross-trained and rotated manpower, so almost everyone gets a shot at their favorite ride. (Maybe with PA announcements when each ride opens and closes throughout the day to drive folks to the rides? ??) It's probably a safe bet that Lakeside is experiencing labor challenges like many others. It's usually later after July 4th when we typically took the kids. Lakeside Amusement Park is more my style than the other place in town. It's true, they could use some paint, but that's part of the tradition too. Lines are shorter so turnaround time is faster. There aren't as many rides, but you ride more of them more times, even when the park is half open. I'm not much for swimming anymore and these landlocked family members of mine don't all even know how to swim. Climbing waterslide towers doesn't appeal to me either, so the lack of waterpark doesn't hurt my feelings. Lakeside has the old boardwalk-style amusement park vibe. Kiddie park is nice enough. You can buy a few tickets or buy an all day wristband. Parking is free but they did ask $5 per head to enter the park. They let you come and go freely to your car, have covered table areas, allow outside food and drink, and have very fair food and drink prices too. ?Check Lakeside out if you haven't, for sure. The positives far outweigh the negatives and it's a cultural experience that won't last forever. Right up there with drive-in movies. (Are they making a comeback...?)

Hey everyone! ? Recently, I visited a park that held a special place in the hearts of my friends, as they had fond memories from the childhood However, my experience turned out to be quite different than expected. Allow me to share my thoughts and concerns in this post.Upon arrival, it was disheartening to discover that the park appeared to be frozen in time since the 60s, with no significant improvements or renovations. The only noticeable change was the heightened security presence, which seemed to be more like uniformed police officers rather than park personnel. As I strolled through the park, capturing moments with my camera, I was approached by one of the security personnel. They politely requested that I refrain from taking photographs, citing security reasons. Understanding their concerns, I complied. However, this encounter led me to wonder about the safety of this park for children and families. After my visit, I stumbled upon a video showcasing the true state of the park - one of complete and utter devastation. It was alarming to think that amidst such risks, people still bring their children here. While I understand the sentimental value and nostalgia associated with this park for my friends, I must emphasize that it is not an ideal place for young children. Moreover, it is worth noting that even if you do choose to visit, photography is strictly limited to capturing self-portraits only. No images of the park's amenities, no carousel rides, and certainly no other people in the background are allowed. It's a shame because I genuinely believe that social media can help bring attention to the need for improvement and revitalization. After this experience, I find it essential to share these facts with all of you. While my friends' affection for this park is understandable, it is crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of our children. As much as we hold onto nostalgia, let's also acknowledge the need for progress and ensure that our experiences are enjoyable and secure. Please remember, this post is not meant to discourage anyone from visiting, but rather to shed light on the current state of affairs at this park and encourage everyone involved to take action. Together, we can make a difference.

This park is a true gem and an important part of Denver history. It looks a little shabby, but the rides are still running and it’s a very popular and inexpensive place to bring the kids and have a great time. You can buy an unlimited ride wristband or just pay $5 to enter and buy individual ride tickets if you so choose. There are some very unique vintage rides here, and the architecture is amazing. My only criticism is that they really should put whatever work/$ needed into reopening the Cyclone wooden roller coaster because it’s the last of its kind in the world from designer Edward Vettel, and is an ACE coaster landmark.

Highly recommend! It’s NOT Disneyland. It’s NOT fancy. It IS vintage Denver at its absolute best. Yes, they could spend a bazillion dollars to make it over but I hope they don’t! We came up from Albuquerque for Labor Day weekend with our family of 12 ages four to 65. Lakeside did not disappoint. Everyone loved it. Kiddie land had plenty of rides for the four and six year olds. Lots of family rides that we all enjoyed. Minimal lines with more rides where you could ride repeatedly without a wait at all. Food was pretty good and prices were well below what you’d pay anywhere else. Favorite food hands down was the swirl ice cream cones. Grounds were clean and beautiful flowers throughout the park. Another thing that my family talked about on the way home was how nice all the employees were from the ride operators to food service workers to security. There were a lot of tables set up for parties with decorations and ice chests left unattended - giving a vibe of easy going, no worry, safe fun atmosphere.Only one disappointment was that the Cyclone rollercoaster wasn’t open but two other coasters were along with kiddie coaster. So much fun for so little money!! Family can’t wait to come back next year!

I give Lakeside amusement park four-stars for historic value and affordability. Sadly, the park is losing some of his Kitchy charm because broken machines or rides are piling up, and there’s a lack of attention to detail with the notable exception of high quality landscaping in the park. The owner could cash in most likely and make millions but is holding out for their own reasons.Regardless, the hold out gives a Denverites a space to enjoy 1950s neon and a fascinating throwback atmosphere crossed with abandon buildings and rides with trees growing up between the seats. I discovered Lakeside only in the past few years. I was fascinated and amazed, but I was a little disappointed to see the park falling into greater disrepair on this visit. Here’s hoping Trey Parker and the team from South Park purchases Lakeside and returns it to its former glory while - hopefully - retaining an affordable option for locals to enjoy.

We stopped in to check out the midget cars I guess is what they're called I don't know, but they had some very cool ones. It was a great day to be out in the morning checking this event out. It was a great time. Happy to been able to go there and meet with some of the old timers at drove these little racers in the raceway at one time there at Lakeside Amusement Park Thank you to all those that participated, very interesting. Very cool. The cars were something I had never seen before. Hopefully they have it again soon info in the pictures that I submitted Thanks For The Read Until Next Time

I still take my nieces to Lakeside. It is cheaper than Elitches and the rides are closer to each other. The employees running the rides were friendly. My nieces enjoyed themselves. The main roller coaster was not working. The last time I was at Lakeside was 2019 and it seemed to be more dirty and unsafe than yesterday. I would love Lakeside to clean up their grounds and make it so it doesn't look so run down. They have 3 new rides that are supposed to open next year. If you purchase tickets, they are $0.50 each. Kiddie Land was 1-2 tickets for each ride. The bigger rides were 2-5 tickets each. We were there for about 4 hrs. I bought the $30 unlimited pass each for my nieces. I think I would have saved some money just by buying the tickets, but there was only 2 places to get tickets, so it was a bit inconvenient. If they are open next year, we will be back.

Absolutely unprofessional and frankly ridiculous experience with security. Not only did the first girl give my fiance huge amounts of attitude, the second lady patted her down and said "keep an eye on these ones, they got attitude." Totally unprofessional and ruined our experience. Security should be professional and courteous. Also, $30 per pass at eliches prices for 1/8 of the rides is frankly ridiculous. The kids wanted to ride the water crafts but there only TWO functional. All of the rides were dated and lame. The only thing amusing about this park are the confrontational and rude clowns in security

Usually when we go to Lakeside we have a fantastic time and even though they have younger kids running the rides, they usually are nice and are friendly....but that was not the case this time with the ride operator for the bumper cars. We took our niece and nephews who are ages 6, 8 and 13 and we were having a great time until we got to this ride, the operator was a snot nose punk who spoke to the kids like they were trash and changed his tone a little when he found out we heard what he said and then he proceeded to only let on about 7 people total and not fill the cars for a full ride and the kids and the few others that got on had to push/bump the empty cars out of the way in order to move in the direction of the track. Our kids were in the front of the line and there was a long line of people behind them in line, so for the operator to not fill all the cars up was rude as well. We found out that the people in line were his friends and he was trying to impress them and wanted them to ride together and they got a full ride and didn't have to push empty cars out of the way in order to ride. The ride operator lied to us about his name at first but we found out his real name and then spoke to the ride manager who may or may not have spoke with him but either way, it's the point that it's supposed to be fun and you should always always treat everyone you meet with kindness and if you have a job like this where little kids are there to enjoy themselves, you as an employee should be nice and set a good example for them and show them that work can be fun and give them something to look forward to when they get old enough to work. Moral of this story is to have compassion for all people big and small and treat and speak to everyone like you want to be treated and spoken to. "Allen" aka Justin or whatever your name is.......Don't be such an asshat and stop being such a rude snarky person, it will make life easier and better!!

Lakeside is a national treasure. One of the few well-preserved early 20th Century amusement parks left in the US. Rides are fun, prices are reasonable, and the lake ambiance is wonderful.

Prices are up again with half of the rides not working no rollercoaster, no dragon, ferris wheel, no tower of doom. I sure hope they can figure out what to do with this place hopefully somebody might come in and by this place and restore it to its former glory even better! I just can't believe the price they are charging with half of their stuff not running! It's sad I love lakeside I grew up coming here from pretty much a little girl.. I did enjoy the train ride with my dad and my brother and niece ☺️

A gem. And a perfect location for a horror movie ?. I hope it has been awarded (or will be awarded) landmark status. Some rides do not work, and some are a little run down, but it is part of the atmosphere. Not crowded at all. Went with my kids and we had a memorable afternoon. Highly recommended.

More than loved it. It drizzled for most of our visit. But the staff stayed and were very nice. Some even took extra time to warn of wet seats or share a laugh. We go every year with our grands, this is the best trip yet!
