I was at western hardware about a week ago and it was so cool just browsing around. I looked around for about 2 to 3 hours at all the really cool stuff and saw some amazing things like a Civil War button, and a lot of cool animal taxidermy heads. I ended up getting a 1946 Nebraska license plate, a Flintstones mug, and a cool roadmap. Would definitely go back again to show people and get a few things. It was overall in amazing store and I loved how the place felt like I walked into the 1800s.

I’m a railroad man , and a big fan of the Denver Rio Grande Western Railroad. Found items like switch keys and a Rio Grande jacket. Will be back soon .

Super cool place with an amazing variety. Definitely go upstairs. The rooms are loaded with unique vintage items. Picked up a swanky swig for my collection and the guy working knew all about them.

Great place to visit, but a lot of items are way overpriced! It was opened in August of 1881 as the Manville and McCarthy Hardware. The store operated as a hardware store for over 100 years. It looks as though at some point in time the upstairs was individual hotel rooms or apartments. Very cool length of store drawers of hardware fixtures downstairs.

We never miss visiting this antique store when in Leadville! It's such an interesting old building. The downstairs was a hardware store with its original furnishings now filled with such a variety of antique items, while the upstairs features different rooms filled with different dealers' antiques. These rooms are reached up a steep, long flight of stairs. It's an interesting store to visit, even if you are not shopping for antiques.

My husband and I went into the store and found quite a few things we wanted to purchase then we saw on display a derogatory vulgar bumper sticker regarding Texans ( where we are from), when brought up to the staff they laughed and said so what. I told them I was offended, handed them our potential purchases and walked out and shared our story with our fellow Texan friends- no one in our group purchased from that store and won’t in the future as well

The store was quite interesting and fun to walk through, it was like looking at a museum collection. There were a lot of old, historical items that anyone would expect to see in any antique store. However, I did see some particular items mixed in that I know were too modern to be in a store like this, like a certain mass-produced boy scouts popcorn tin that would usually only be in a thrift shop or garage sale.

This place is the real deal. Tourist prices but it's Leadville and the finds are worth it.
