Love their deals, the core meat/seafood staff is always pleasant and helpful when we go in. We order a lot of meat/seafood so that’s always our go-to store.

Omgosh! Tomatoes are absolutely delicious! They are meaty, firm and quite flavorful. They are right next to the multiple on the vine ones, on an end cap.
I shop Safeway specifically because their fruit and vegetable selection is the best in Montrose.
If you love tomatoes, give them a go, great for tomato sandwiches.
The vine ripened tomatoes are sold individually, and the shape reminds me of heirloom tomatoes. I think they might be a new product at Safeway, I don’t recall seeing them before now.
I love mixed tomatoes and sweet onions. I usually chop a whole sweet onion and tomatoes, placed in a container together and they last several days in the fridge. Ready to go, and goes on almost everything!!
You might also try a dressing, Ken’s Steak House, Sweet Vidalia Onion.

I’m giving 4 stars because we rarely have had a bad experience while shopping here. And I say we because my family and I shop here almost everyday and are treated so nice and 99% of the employees are wonderful hard working kind people. HOWEVER I am so disappointed in the treatment my wife had when she went through Monica’s line yesterday. Listen here Monica if you do not like your job or people coming through your line you should find something else where you don’t deal with customers. You were incredibly rude to my wife and children yesterday. Customers are your paychecks and you outta be thankful for your customers. My wife considered not shopping at Safeway anymore but I absolutely refuse to let your bad attitude and mistreatment of my family stop us from coming in as a family. And I can assure you if that attitude isn’t fixed by the next time we come through your line you won’t have to worry about having to deal with anyone anymore as I will personally see to it you are no longer employed at Safeway.

This is a great store. I like to cook and Safeway carries many items which the other store does not such as fresh bean sprouts, Passata, Calabrian chili pepper paste and pork belly, just to name a few. Vegetables are not as good but I usually go to both stores anyway to satisfy my grocery list. Also, the staff is super friendly.

I love this grocery store and have been a loyal customer for 4 years since I moved here from ca. I've decided to leave this review in hopes they can improve certain areas. I have arthritis and rely on buying pre cut fruit and veggies because my hands just can't cut it up well. For the last month or longer I've noticed there's often not any stocked precut fruit. When I ask for help I pretty much get sorry we can't do anything about it. But last Saturday I asked a petite blond woman, Allison I think? Maybe Alice? And she happily went back and cut me up the fruit and veggies I was seeking. Since she was happy to help me it makes me wonder if the other staff I have spoken with just didn't want to help me. I'm hopeful management will see this and figure out why they are not stocking the fruits and veggies. Please consider that some customers truly need access to already cut and cleaned fruits and veggies.

So just came from Safeway, there's something wrong with Shawna the cashier. She is rude and difficult to deal with. I dread when she is the only cashier. Have called the store, the manager on duty said they'll talk with her. Looking at recent reviews and the first one I see is about how negative Shawna is, the manager responded to this post so clearly they are aware of this problem.Really don't think I'll be going back. This woman's a problem they know she's a problem. She was syrupy sweet very insincere after being so rude!!! Read in another post this is what she does after being a jerk. Plus I have also noticed their little trick with ground beef, fresh on the outside disguising brown meat underneath. I was also told she was sick, still get help, manage your px or get another job.
