U-Haul has dropped the ball TWICE on my family in the last year. The first time when my mom needed to move a 5-bedroom house across town, and the night before, we were alerted that we would have to use a 13-foot truck instead of the 20+ one we reserved. It took so many more trips and was flat out exhausting and time-consuming doing it this way. The second time, I was moving cross-country and planning on having this truck (hoping the first time they dropped the ball was a fluke), and the night before, we were called and told not only did UHaul not have our truck, but our only other option was driving 30 minutes away, and taking a small truck with a trailer pulled behind it. I don't know about you, but if you've never pulled a trailer behind a giant truck, it's a bit daunting to think about. We called Penske (pretty new to Montrose) and were able to rush there before they closed to secure a truck that would fit our belongings, and canceled UHaul. Ugh it was so stressful to be put in this situation! Here's how it works- basically, UHaul lets you make a reservation, and then when the day comes that you need the truck, they tell you they don't have it! WOW. What's the point of a reservation, then?! hope more truck companies come to town so that UHaul doesn't have a monopoly over this area and take advantage of the people of Montrose not having many other options. Never again will I use this business.
