This place has gone down hill fast. For context, I've been going here for years and have spent thousands on my dogs. I even referred my mother here for her two dogs. She and I are both extremely disappointed with the level of service over the last couple of years. It all started when my dog started puking blood. I called frantic and was greeted with the most rude, smart a** receptionist ever. She refused to schedule me and referred me to the ER, who after driving there referred me back to PCAC. When I told them this, the gal was extremely rude and snickered when I begged her to see my dog. That really upset me a lot. After that I did everything I could to find a place to take her, which I did. I still decided to get her therapeutic treats from PCAC anyways, since Dr. Larson recommended them and I love Dr. Larson. Now all of a sudden I'm having trouble getting a refill without an exam. My mother has been having the same issues as well. One of the receptionist literally laughed at her over the phone and told her, "this is the same script I tell everyone else." That is BS in my opinion. Here are the facts: - Veterinary Diets do not contain prescription drugs. - Veterinary diets do not have the label "Caution: Federal law restricts this drug to sale by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian." - You pay tax in many states when buying veterinary diets, just like regular pet food. - Veterinary diet manufacturers do not have to complete the FDA approval process when changing ingredients, unlike prescription drugs. So, the answer is no, you do NOT legally need a prescription to purchase a "veterinary prescription diet." So to the extremely disrespectful, rude, smart a** that I dealt with over the phone today who told me I was "confused," get your damn facts straight. Be nice to people, and take a goddamn class on customer service. This place is not about quality of life for your pet, but rather making a quick buck. If you're on the fence, take your pet elsewhere. If you are just looking for a new pet, do yourself a favor and call the next place on your list.

Don't go here if you don't want your dog to be mistreated, cursed & treated like after surgery by the red-headed vet tech. Funny that it was brought to upper managements attention and the employee I guess got a hand slap, because guess who's still working there? Should've been immediate termination when there's witnesses. "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute."

We came here in a dire time of need for our beloved Dog. This was a few years ago, but we were new to the area and I suspected something was very wrong with my dog. We got her in within a few hours and when she got there, they knew right away what was wrong. She was suffering from gastric torsion. They took her back and I can only describe her care as amazing. The nurses kept us updated through surgery and the rest of the day while she was in recovery. They were SO compassionate with my total hysteria. We've been in several other times, and she has had a few small surgeries for mast cell tumors. They've completely removed them each time and her sutures have done great. We've called a few times with minor questions and we've gotten quick thoughtful responses! I also feel like they are willing to offer good advice over the phone without RUSHING in for an unnecessary vet visit. I can't really speak to the prices here, I didn't shop around after our first encounter and honestly, I would pay anything to keep my fur baby healthy.

We have been a long time clients of PCAC for almost 2 decades and are still overwhelmed by the level of personal care always shown to us and our pets. After having a very thorough, informative and lengthy discussion with Dr. Motichka recently, it was determined our little Staffy needed to go see a specialty surgeon. Dr. Motichka not only helped us make a decision on the procedure choices and gave us a list of recommendations for where to go, but he also called us to follow-up on that consultation. When our pets are ailing, it makes it just a little easier to have that extra bit of support.

The staff here are very nice to my anxious/bitey dog. Dr. Larson was really kind and empathetic to my dog, and provided me a lot of education about my dog's health problems. Their pricing is very reasonable and they seem to have good availability when my dog has needed to be seen right away. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Such kind, caring and compassionate people. Dr. Noone is the best! They were wonderful when we had to put our Golden to sleep and allowed us to do it in their backyard. So calm and peaceful.

I took my dog here to get a second opinion on her bloodwork from my other vet. They were SO thorough and so helpful that we decided to get different tests done that are more accurate and found out exactly what the issue was. They were so helpful and kind and when the doctor called me to discuss the Results he went over everything in detail and answered every question. Unbelievable service.

Looked at my most recent receipt and noticed they charged me $40.00 just to give an allergy shot to one of my three dogs (and I give all three dogs allergy shots every three months). They charge for the vial of medicine so the cytopoint injection cost me $85.50 for a 23 pound dog and my bigger dog $197.50. Insane!! This prompted me to look at previous billings and they have always charged me the fee just to give the shot. Do you think maybe you should tell people you charge to give the shot? I am tired of the hidden fees, being up sold on services like teeth cleaning. I don't like to be up sold or over charged. Going to find a new vet.

They charged me over $500 for two rounds of puppy shots. The cost was not communicated. They completely overprice and under deliver on both service and communication.

LOOK AT THE REVIEWS/RATINGS BEFORE TAKING YOUR PET TO THE VET!! This review was for an appointment last year. I posted it recently because I am usually not the type to post reviews but this particular one still pisses me off. I did not reach out to them about my concerns because I wanted nothing to do with them and I didn't think they would do anything to fix the issue. I got a call once right after the appointment from the vet to see how Leia was doing and to see what to do for her. I told the vet that we were going home to our other vet because I wanted nothing to do with this one. Other than that, they reached out to me only to remind me to schedule appointments. I moved to Colorado for college and I have had a hard time finding vets that were as great as my old one. I decided to try PCAC because they were close to where I lived and they got me in right away. I did not look at the reviews though which was stupid of me. I made an appointment though because my dog was consistently hacking. They got me in immediately to see Dr. Toyne.... I guess I didn't realize how inexperienced this doctor was until I went back home to my old doctor and it took him 5 seconds to figure out what was wrong with my dog and I didn't have to pay anything. She took advantage of a young, worried pet owner. I should have known better but I was worried about my dog. She ordered xrays and some other things that costed over $500!!! When we got the results back, she told me that my dog might have an enlarged heart/bronchitis/dog asthma or heart worm. She didn't even know what was wrong but she made it seem serious. I was a little confused and more worried for my dog so I believed her. The one thing I realized after the appointment was that she only took my dogs heart rate. She didn't check anything else out. If she would have looked inside my dogs mouth/checked her throat because her symptoms were HACKING!!!! She would have seen that my dog had a long soft palette and it was causing the hacking. Which means there's nothing wrong with my dog. So at the end of the appointment my bill was over $500 because this vet wasn't doing her job. I don't know how she passed vet school but if this vet is like this then I wouldn't be surprised if other vets that work there are the same as her. Please do not take your pet here. They will take your money and misdiagnose your animal.

I brought my cat here countless times saying there was something wrong with him, I know my cat, I know when there's something wrong, I brought him for months and kept getting the same answer, he has feline herpes that's why he's so congested, feline herpes outbreaks last 2 weeks max, he was severely congested for 4 months. He was later diagnosed by the cat specialist in castle rock with nasal cancer that had grown so aggressive in those 4 months that he lost his sight, couldn't walk, couldn't use his litter box, and couldn't eat or drink. He had to be put down after he lost 6lbs in 2 weeks. The most devastating part is there are treatment options. he was only 6 and I would have done anything I could to stop the cancer from growing but after 4 months of being told he's fine it was too late. Not to mention how expensive they are. I've spent hundreds on nonsense just to have to put my baby down. Go to the cat specialist in castle rock if you have a cat.

As a dog groomer I've tried alot of vets in the Denver metro area because I like to have person experience when recommending any place. When I moved and looked for a vet closer to home I was very pleased to find my moms vet does exotics. The website was informative, easy to navigate, and I booked online. Availability was reasonable I was able to get an appointment first thing on the start of my two days off. Outside its quaint, even though its right off parmer road it is quiet a peaceful. Inside was clean and quiet early in the morning. Reception staff was attentive and friendly. I was promptly put in a room. Ferrets weighed and pictures taken, all before my appointment time because I arrived about 10 minutes early. The exam and vaccinations were executed in a compassionate manner every person had a smile. The vet discussed vaccine reactions in a manner that I could easily understand but not in a way that would make me panic. I found the pricing extremely reasonable and they were clear about it throughout. 10 out of 10 I will be back.

The actual work they do on animals is good but talk about let's see how much we can get them to come back and spend as much as humanly possible. They love animals but I think their drive for cash flow outweighs the love for animals. Paid close to 800 to put a cat down, 2k for removing my dogs tooth. Now I paid 170 for something I already knew and some meds when they said he needs to come back monthly for allergy drops in his ears. The last vet gave me drops that fixed it for 15 bucks and they want 57 dollars per month. No thanks!

Surprised at the so-so reviews. We brought our dog down here (a long way from us) for a Tightrope CCL (dog's version of ACL) surgery. Even after some research, we were worried that this new-ish procedure (a variation on the extra-capsular "fishing line" procedures and which isn't done by a lot of vet surgeons with experience in this area) wouldn't hold. However Dr. Motichka reassured us that this was a very justifiable choice for our 70 lbs-ish dog instead of the supposed "gold standard" (and 2x as expensive) TPLO procedure. What was really great and different from most other vets was that the quoted cost was almost to the dollar what we paid. No extra charges or "well we had to do an extra..." or "well we had to charge an extra..." which seems to be more and more common with vets now. In short, the staff was great on every visit, especially Dr. Motichka. Kind, considerate, reassuring, competent and good listeners to boot. Our dog Koki is now well over a year out from the procedure and doing great (although we keep her a bit more "reigned in", in consideration of the other CCL possibly blowing out). I know every (surgical) procedure has the risk of a "failed outcome" so there are no guarantees (ask my wife about her two knee surgeries). However and even though It was a long way to go for the procedure and followups I'd decide to do it again in a microsecond. I also wish that PCAC was closer to where we lived so they could be our regular vet.

This place is all about bolt on sales and don't let you know it's additional charges for every single thing. I've gone 2x now and the first time for shots was over $300. They wanted to charge $2500 for teeth cleaning and removal of a few teeth. Then the second time was for a possible eye infection and walked out paying $240. They continued to try and push me toward a pill that was no needed. After I said no, it was mentioned 3-4 more times. I was charged $52 for a "wound cleaning" without mentioning that there was an additional fee to shave the hair around a small wound my dog had. I will be trying to find a different vet after today.
