Dakota Hot Springs is a rustic and charming hot spring location known for its relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the warm water and the large pool, which stays at a perfect temperature for lounging and soaking. The pool area provides plenty of chairs and space to sunbathe, making it an ideal spot to unwind. The springs operate on a clothing-optional basis, and guests often enjoy a casual, welcoming vibe where most people are comfortable swimming in the nude. The staff is described as very friendly and accommodating, taking time to explain the rules and ensuring visitors feel at ease. Prices are considered very reasonable, and reservations are recommended, especially for busy days like Tuesday, which is designated as family day with stricter dress code rules. While the facilities are quite rustic, with some showers in disrepair and outdoor areas showing signs of wear, the water quality remains excellent. Visitors often remark that the experience is more about relaxation and good company than spa luxury. The location fosters a sense of community, where conversations and friendships naturally develop among the diverse age range of guests. However, visitors should be prepared for outdoor elements like mosquitoes, especially at dusk, and bring bug spray. Overall, Dakota Hot Springs offers a unique, laid-back experience with character and charm, perfect for those seeking affordable relaxation in a natural setting.

Many of the lounge chairs are broken. I was told that I could park overnight at Penrose Commons for free as I had no camping reservation made. I drove there and thought that it would be best not to as there is a single sign saying that there is no overnight parking.
