Humiliating ExperienceShelter Security - 728 W. 4th StreetSo, I recently applied for a Shelter Security- Graveyard Shift position. Everything was great until it wasn’t. I was only 9min. into my interview when I received notification that I was not selected.I’m not upset about not getting selected, I’m upset because not only did they waste my time, I was text/ confronted about a private post I made on Facebook saying,” that f—-ked up moment you get rejected only minutes into your interview.” Guess she (Lori B Arabie) took offense because in the text I was gaslit by her stating, they had an offer for me… (NOT!!!) it was a poor attempt at an apology. Now, I don’t know what their hiring process normally consists of, and maybe they treated other people with dignity and respect, while I was treated like a useless human being who just wanted to waste their time. Do better!!.

I went into Melanie’s DM’s with all great intentions to find the gap and help close it between The Mission and Pueblo’s unhoused. I never mentioned ‘the recent situation’ and had no intention to. My messages were only to be kind and helpful, because there is TRUTHFULLY a whole large group out here in Pueblo of people (both unhoused and housed) collecting information and incidents. I figured “hey, Melanie must not be this bad, I’ll help solve the issue with fresh young eyes. Places like this are needed and should be fixed instead of destroyed” But I was essentially just talked to about the situation that I hadn’t even mentioned or had any desire to speak about.Blocking me from the Rescue Mission page right after offering for me to come volunteer? I absolutely would have had I not been blocked and not given the chance to speak. You really need to reevaluate your higher up staff and hire someone who’s young and has real (not performative, like Melanie seems to be) concern and compassion for our unhoused.

I would like to take this time and say God bless all of you in the outreach program, you were there when I really needed it, I needed shelter, I needed food and you was there. Thank you God for these people and may the blessings continue flowing for all in need. I only have one complaint I wish I was able to enter the shelter earlier than 9pm, I am a Veteran and I have meds I need to take, and some of them need to be in a fridge and please make water more available thanks for your patience and support it really matters to me.

I am heartbroken. I donated many bins of clothes and accidentally donated one container of my kids sports shirts from their childhood and other very sentimental items that were to be made into a quilt. I donated on a Monday and realized my error Wednesday evening and called Thursday morning to see if I could retrieve that bin. The lady there said she would try to locate them and call back on Monday (acted like she didn’t care). Monday! They could be lost forever by then! So I called back Monday only to be told they were in a 3 hour meeting…. So I drove back up there. The lady saw me and motioned for one guy to open the shipping container out back. There were no crates that I had donated. Then she informs me that the volunteers came on SATURDAY/SUNDAY and sorted and distributed everything! Why didn’t she just allow me to come the Thursday before? I knew what the crate looked like. She seemed bothered that I even called. All this could’ve been avoided if she would’ve just said “sure, come take a look” on Thursday BEFORE volunteers came! I don’t understand the heartless “I don’t care” mentality of people. She knew I was desperate. Lesson learned: go through everything twice before you donate.

Made me wait outside in the cold for 30 minutes just to give me 30 seconds worth of info that could have been given to me when I had first arrived. Then they assume I have an attiude for pointing out two conflicting statements and asking for clarity. Thanks a lot!!!

Amazing place for anyone homeless and wanting a fresh start at life again. Tons of programs to get you back on the right path , you get a bed to sleep in, awesome meals , warm showers and the help you need if you want it. I was a resident for a time at the mission and now I have a great job, my own apartment and a vehicle, the programs really work.

I have been harassed & stalked by 2 individuals trying to ruin my life & I have been homeless living on the streets for quite awhile. In order for me to find stable housing and get off the streets & be safe from the people out to hurt me I got placed at Pueblos Rescue Mission. I've been here for about 2 months now and it's a very good place to be. The case managers are caring and the 2 individuals that run the mission ate kind & compassionate about their jobs and helping people succeed & become better people in life. It's a very clean and safe, warm place to be when a person has nowhere else to go. I am very grateful for the warm bed at night and the good meals , etc..

If u are homeless do not bother staying here, You will be safer anywhere else. After Kathy retired from this establishment homeless people are not welcomed. Only people who the state pays rent for are treated with what Lil respect this place can muster. The staff are very rude and have no problem lieing about the current conditions in the pueblo rescue mission. Including: allowing and condoning violent acts against other residents, miss treatment and handling of food and resources, Unprofessional conduct among staff, misinformation regarding there so called mental health programs. I myself no longer donate or contribute to this establishment.
