On Thursday January 25th I was traveling from Santa Fe to Denver to attend my Uncle's funeral. At appx 2:45pm I stopped at this Shell station (just off I-25) with the intent of using the toilet ( I had to go bad!), top off my gas tank and get something hot to drink. ((Shell gas is (or was) my fuel of choice)). The toilet (both men's and women's rooms) required a key so I went to the counter and a young man (twenty something?) gave it to me. I thanked him and told him I planned to get gas after using the toilet. When I entered the men's room I did notice a sign on the door saying "5 minute limit". Well, my stay was probably going to be a little longer than 5 minutes (who hasn't had one of those experiences!?). After maybe 7-8 minutes? I was nearing completion and someone started knocking loudly on the door and talking loudly (I couldn't make out what he was saying). I said I was almost done then after finishing up I opened the door and there was no-one waiting to use the toilet. I approached the counter and there were 3 people behind it.... the young man who gave me the key, a young woman busy playing with her smart phone, and a middle aged man standing with his arms crossed. I asked what the problem had been and the middle aged man curtly said "there's a 5 minute limit on the bathroom". I explained that in my case I had to be there for longer than 5 minutes and he shrugged his shoulders and said "5 minute limit". I asked if he had ever been in the same situation at me and he again "shrugged his shoulders" and said "5 minute limit". I then said my plan had been to top off my tank but that I would take my business elsewhere. He could have cared less (same with the other 2 employees). So I left and hit the road. I ended up finding a nice clean Valero in Colo Springs with a polite and helpful clerk who allowed me to use the employee bathrooms (she said she takes it on a case by case basis), I filled up my tank for $35 and bought a hot drink. The Shell in Pueblo would be well served by hiring a clerk of her quality. I wonder how many other potential customers have been run off by the poor customer service and bathroom Nazi. DON'T stop at this Shell Station! DMC/Albuquerque

I generally have had nothing but positive experiences at the Hwy 50 Shell in Pueblo, and normally you can expect them to be a price leader. Two days ago, however, I made it a point to go there for fuel as I also needed a car wash badly. The place was packed as usual but I also noticed that the price per gallon for regular gas had increased significantly since I'd last driven by. As they normally have a very competitive price I automatically figured that something in the Middle East must have triggered the increase to $2.89 per gallon! As I'm pumping I'm checking the Internet for what obviously caused this $.40/gal increase, but found nothing. Paid $20 for the car wash and headed back to Pueblo West to do some grocery shopping at Safeway. My jaw about hit the floor when I saw the normally high Safeway gasoline at $2.46/gal. I was not happy. Got out to go into the store and found my $20 car wash left a lot to be desired. Ended up wiping it down the best I could (in the dark) with microfiber rag I had in the car, but the car wash did a miserable job. It was what I'd expect for something half that price. I've since found that just about every gas station I pass has prices similar to what Safeway had. I'm still a little bit hot about that whole experience at Shell; getting gouged by over $.40 a gallon and the lousy car wash. I'm not saying I'll never return there but it will certainly be a long time before I do. In the final analysis I think they raised the prices because they were experiencing problems with the pumps (they were pumping extremely slow) which could have been dirty filters or perhaps low quantities in the main storage tanks. I understand about supply/demand but gouging your customers like that is not an acceptable business practice - people (like myself) will remember that and take their business elsewhere.

Always the cheapest gas in town. Cheap fountain drinks, and great fuel rewards. Best location

It's really weird that it's the same owner for Bonforte and 50 cuz the 2 stores couldn't possibly be more different! Bonforte sucks and 50 is always reliable! Staff is always friendly and remembers me and things are always stocked and look clean and neat. My only bad experience has been overnight with a male employee whose prerogative was to uncomfortably hit on women customers. I stopped going there overnight cuz of him but there's a sign up saying they're hiring that shift so hopefully he's gone, idk. The ladies are so awesome I can't even take off a star for the 1 bad employee I encountered. Keep up the awesome work!

Came in here once to get a coffee, lady behind the counter looked like she wanted to kill me, then got angry with me when her card reader didn't like my card. Haven't been back since. I hate this city.
