After many visits to Chipeta I highly recommend spending a bit more to stay in one of the LoCha suites. While there have been ongoing renovations during our last few visits, we’ve never found these to be disruptive to our experience. Staying at Chipeta is good year round however during the winter is our favorite!

Arrived and were checked in by a lovely young lady. Room was beautiful. Couldn’t get dinner at the restaurant on site. We were told kitchen closes at 8:15. Got there at 8:02 and were told they stopped seating at 8:00. When I said that it was only 2 min after. I was rudely informed “we’re out of everything anyway “. Understood. But then the heat didn’t work in the room. It was 60 degrees inside. Tried to text, like they asked. No response at all. When we got ahold of the front desk we were told it was our fault that we didn’t know how to work the heater. Seriously. Not a good time there. To bad because it’s a neat place with beautiful rooms and great hot tub

Willing to charge high prices, but the staff give Zero effort. Nobody seems to be able to do anything or make decisions because they don't have access to "the system". Unable to even print a receipt for your stay.

Chipeta Lodge is amazing!! So many great things to say about this place!!I stayed the night here traveling for work with my dog and every moment was excellent! We were warmly welcomed by Jade at Reception and, they were extremely helpful! The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. There are stained glass windows throughout and it is a spacious yet cozy feel. Very bright and beautiful views of the mountains from my room. The mineral hot soaking tub is what drew me here initially and it did not disappoint. Gorgeous sunset views over the mountains from the tub.I cannot express enough how welcoming and helpful Jade was! I clumsily dropped my phone in the hot soaking tub and Jade helped me providing rice and a bowl to soak my phone in. Jade gave excellent food recommendations, True Grit, and was very kind and hospitable to all guests.I will absolutely be staying at Chipeta whenever I get the opportunity to do so!

October 2023 by D Homes
we arrived to the hotel on Sunday, October 2023 the key to our room was in an envelope at the front desk. There was a sign that said there is a Work shortage no one will be available today. We got to our room which was not what we ordered. right next to the mattress pad and the wall was an outlet that was not screwed in properly. And there was no cover on it. multiple plugs were plugged into an adapter into one outlet. Which was warm. A fire hazard just waiting to happen. The bed basically was a box springs no light in the room to be able to see to put make up on. The tub and toilet area was open to the bedroom no fan in the bathroom disaster room. We talked to the weekend manager Michelle and the fact that we were not satisfied and it was not the room we ordered she told us oh well luck at the draw no one there we can't change it no one's available. Requested a call from the general manager have not received one yet And probably won't. and probably won't. The only employee that was on site was the bartender. He advised us that the kitchen was closed for the breakfast which was supposed to be part of our room price. He told us our room was listed for a person with a Russian name which wasn't us. he told us that someone from Telluride had bought the site and they were trying to renovate it. Was not told when I paid for the room that this was in progress or that breakfast would not be available. Asked the bartender if I could get some more towels because we only had two towels in the room a hand towel and bath towel and he told us to go down to the hot tub and grab those towels. Very unsatisfied would never stay there again.

My husband purchased a gift certificate to the Chipeta Spa for me and it didn't have a mention of expiration dates and no expiration date listed on the certificate. I hadn't used it yet because I got pregnant right after it was purchased 1.5 years ago. We spoke with Michelle about trying to use it. She was rude and unprofessional and refused to honor it saying that they expire after one year. We asked if they could please honor it given that no one ever said there was an expiration date and there isn't one listed and she said we were out of luck. No offer to discount services or anything. Chipeta isn't going to last long if they treat small-town guests like this. I won't ever support them given this situation and I am a local.

We spent 4 nights here and I never wanted to leave! Each team member we met was extremely kind. We loved our room, super clean, full kitchen with all the needed utensils, beautiful bathroom and we enjoyed the incredible views from our private hot tub on the balcony. The bed was the most comfortable bed I think I’ve ever slept in! Thankful for the sunshine to enjoy the pool too :) Looking forward to another stay here!

Location is decent, but not worth itI stayed for 2 nights, never saw a single employee. I arrived at 8pm to find an envelope with my name, keys and a horrible map of the hotel because they didn't have staff to cover the evening shift.I stumbled around in the dark trying to find my room, most of the outside lights are burned out. Finally another guest pointed me in the right direction.NO ELEVATOR. I didn't know this when I booked and since I wasn't going to lug my 50 lb suitcase up the stairs, I lived out of my car for 2 days. So much for luxury. The room was HOT, the AC did not work. No microwave. No TV in the bedroom (TV was in the living area which was even hotter). Also no cable, just streaming. Restaurant was closed, even though all their emails said it was open.Construction crews kicked me out of my parking spot on my second day, they took over 3 of the 4 parking areas, leaving only about 9 parking spaces plus some street parking for guests.Walls and floors are thin. I heard everything in my neighbor's rooms, including when they got up for the day at 3:30 am.Just stay somewhere else. This place is not worth even half the price they're charging.

We rented out over 30 rooms at the Chipeta to accommodate our wedding guests. Clay and the Chipeta staff went out of their way to make the weekend special for us and the wedding party. Great rooms, fantastic views, huge hot tub. What more can you ask for!

This is NOT a premium hotel/lodge; this is completely misrepresented by their website and marketing. They are overwhelmingly overpriced-I would not pay to stay anyplace in this condition. It is a run down mess. Our room hasn't been updated since the place was built in 1993 and it shows. The carpets were filthy. Mini blinds were broken and largely unoperable and unsightly. The stairs up to our room were just said. The "patio" was filthy. The shower did work and plenty of hot water. It was about 50 degrees at night, no heat. Brought us a space heater the next day, for a $350 per night room, and it was just about a fist fight to get that. Supposedly all heat turned off in all rooms, but other guests actually did have heat in their rooms. We did get a $50 discount for one night, whoopee. Breakfast was a joke called "continental". No milk, a couple of bagels left at 8am, no plates. The communal hot tub was fine. We learned to get the room serviced, one has to ask for it. After significant problems and complaints to the staff, not one word ever from the "onsite manager" who is never actually onsite. It's a damned shame because the property at one time must have been gorgeous, but is presently a dump charging post renovation prices with limited service and lots of problems. Every other guest we spoke to had serious complaints. Repeat: presently an overpriced dump.I almost forgot to mention: they advertised and included in our "Welcome message" their wonderful onsite restaurant and rooftop bar. BOTH are closed down, but not a word about that before we got there, only after checking in. Typically I would call their representations fraud.

This was not a resort or any kind of upscale hotel, as their website and rates seem to imply ($600/nightly over labor day wknd). On the contrary, run down rooms, messy exterior areas, unreliable customer service, and a complete absence of amenities would place this hotel in the the 2 star range. Our room: sheets had blood stains at the bottom (which a housekeeper apologetically replaced), the hot tub's cover was torn, and the privacy cloth which functioned as a screen on the balcony had half fallen off the rail, making our outdoor space not quite so private. On the second day, after a hike and realizing at 3pm that housekeeping never showed up, we were told by the front desk that 'housekeeping needs to be requested', and that it is a common post Covid trend for hotels not to offer it automatically. (Not true at other hotels where we have stayed this year.) Funny because I tried calling the front desk that morning to tell them we were leaving and that housekeeping could come, but the room phone was completely dead.Breakfast the first day was ok, although there was no milk for the cereal. One guest joked about opening all the mini creamers to use for cereal milk. On Saturday morning the food was virtually gone by 8am - more guests complaining. Same story Sunday. Ice machine was not working, big green/brown muck puddle in front of the steps up to our room. I could go on and on.

I went to a memorial for an ol friend at this place. It's a nice enough place for sure. But they could use some education in customer service. Our group that attended had to move to a different location twice for one reason or another. I would think a little more compassion could have been shown to the family that just lost a loved one. They didn't need to be jumping through hoops during the gathering. Just saying!
