Our accommodation at the Chipeta Lodge in Ridgway CO was not as marketed. “Settle into cozy and spacious guest rooms with incredible private views…”. The queen size bed filled the cozy (cramped) room in which we stayed. The light switch was hidden behind the bed post; there was only one bedside table because the left side was adjacent to the room’s entrance; and there was little space to walk between the bed and the clothes wardrobe. Our private view was of the hallway which extended above the lobby. “Most rooms feature … granite wet bar, refrigerator, Apple TV's with access to streaming services…” The refrigerator in our room was jammed under the granite wet bar; the coffee maker power cord extended over the sink to the electrical receptacle. The streaming services were not worth the effort to view due to low bandwidth. We did not partake of the complimentary breakfast as we checked out as quickly as we could in the morning fleeing this disappointment. One more thing: this room was not shown in the website photos gallery…for obvious reasons.

we arrived to the hotel on Sunday, October 2023 the key to our room was in an envelope at the front desk. There was a sign that said there is a Work shortage no one will be available today. We got to our room which was not but we ordered outlet covers were not on outlets for not screwed properly multiple plugs plugged into one plug. A fire hazard just waiting to happen. The bed basically was a box springs no light in the room to be able to see to put make up on. The tub and toilet area was open to the bedroom no fan in the bathroom disaster room. We talked to the weekend manager Michelle and the fact that we were not satisfied and it was not the room we ordered she told us oh well luck at the draw no one there we can't change it no one's available. Requested a call from the general manager have not received one yet

We booked this hotel due to how it appeared on line. The grounds need ALOT of maintenance as do the rooms. The bed mattress very worn and we woke up with back aches. It's a beautiful hotel just needs a lot of maintenance.

We got a room with a little kitchen and dining area. The dining table had 3 legs, which sums up our stay. As long as we kept it against the wall, it worked, though was very wobbly. But if we had had 4 people in our party, instead of 3, we would have had to pull it out from the wall. The dishwasher didn't work, but made a noise like a demon from the 7th pit of hell. The electric fireplace didn't work. There was no coffee maker. There was a tv, but we could only watch it if we sat on the queen sized bed, which was awkward. I ended up sitting in a very uncomfortable wooden dining chair next to the bed. There was a junked refrigerator sitting under the outdoor staircase to our room. They provided too many towels, but no place to hang them once they had been used, and no one came in the room to refresh towels or anything during our stay. There is room for shelves or cabinets, or racks that people could use to hang dock kits in the bathroom - but no such facilities were installed. We all had to just put our toiletries on the bathroom countertop. The restaurant was closed for renovations. I understand that has to be done sometimes, but it would have been nice to know beforehand. I only booked the room a few weeks in advance and I'm sure they knew then that it would be closed. The beds were comfortable, and the room looked very nice. Lots of windows, and rustic-chic furniture and trimmings. There was a very nice wooden wardrobe and dresser and the kitchen looked nice, though it was cobbled together with some strange qualities. It looks very nice, but it's like the whole place has a rustic-chic facade, while the actual working parts were all bought at a junkyard and are held together with duct tape, and don't actually work.

Loved our room. More than I expected. So comfy and beautiful. The bed, pillows and comforter were all soft and perfect. We slept through the night. Great location. The on-site spa, chlorinated, pool, Hot Springs pool, restaurant, and bar were extra bonuses. They even have bicycle rentals. The free breakfast is a grab and go bagel, muffins, fruit, yogurt, coffee and hot cocoa. Perfect breakfast options for us- no fuss. Some TV sounds come through the walls or ceiling but nothing too loud. We couldn’t hear the live music from the on-site bar from our room unless I sat on the patio. There is a neighborhood tennis court and concrete walking trails located across the street from the lodge. This was not associated with the lodge, however, we enjoyed it. We got great recommendations for the town from the girl who checked us in. We enjoyed our stay and will return.

Charged almost $500. per night (with excessive room charge, 15.5 % tax, and $25/day resort fees). Rm in Kiva Building - king mattress sunken, sinks don’t drain, shredded privacy screen & hot tub cover

We stayed for a week in one of the Choice King rooms. As I understand the rooms are all a little different. It was very clean and everything looked newly renovated. It was a beautiful room. It was more than I expected. The bed was very comfortable with great pillows and dreamy comforter. Kitchen area with stove/dishwasher/toaster and all the other thing you may need. The small sitting area has a cozy couch, a gas fire place and nice tv. There is small private patio. There is hot tub but it wasn't filled with water. It wasn't listed as an amenity so I didn't care. Looked new so it maybe soon to come. You can hear your neighbors tv etc thru the walls but not bad. The first half of the week we were there they we're finishing up the renovations on the on-site restaurant and roof top bar. It's officially opened! There is an on-site spa. They also have a hot spring pool and a regular chlorinated pool. Loved our stay. Definitely will be back.

My party was disappointed to learn upon our arrival that both the restaurant and spa were closed/under construction. We had just completed a 5 day backpacking trip with San Juan Huts and were very much looking forward to a nice, easy dinner on site and the possibility of a spa treatment. Soaking in the hot tub was not particularly relaxing with several contractors milling about the property. Lastly, while I greatly appreciate that the property is dog friendly, our room was located on the third floor, with painful ski resort style metal stairs that are difficult for dogs to climb. I could look past these issues if not for the $600 price tag for a mid-week, one night stay. We loved visiting Ouray and Ridgway, but will consider other lodging options next time.

This hotel was way overpriced for what it provided. The rooms are poorly set up, the bed was old and uncomfortable, the heater did not work, the gas fireplace did not work, it was not possible to easily plug in the coffee maker because the only outlet nearby was in a corner behind the sink with insufficient length of power cord to be able to position the coffee maker safely. The decor was incredibly ugly and cheap, and the most idiotic thing was the absence of reasonable lighting in front of the bathroom sink/mirror. My wife was unable to put on her makeup in front of that sink because of the poor lighting. Also, the switch for lighting to the bathroom was near the exit door. Also, the wall between the bedroom and bathroom did not go all the way to the ceiling, precluding privacy when using the bathroom. The lounge area of the hotel was ugly and not comforting.

We went in Sept, and while its a beautiful place, they were in construction and short staffed so we felt like after thoughts, in a random hotel versus a "resort". The room had some burnt out bulbs, and the heated pool was cold. The continental breakfast was a few snacks. The decor is really cool, and the private hot tub was fun. But things seemed to be just a little run down on the property. Hopefully after a few renovations this place will shine again.

Update to previous review: they need room darkening, shades, or darker curtains instead of linen like things. Also, if you don't want to wake up before 7 AM to people moving carts around setting up for the continental breakfast, don't stay in building one. They also need signage to show where the reception area is. There's no one at the front desk after 8 PM, which is kind of normal in mountain towns, but people were out talking by the pool till 2:35 in the morning and no one stopped them. I'll never stay here again. They just don't seem to have it together and some of the rooms go for up to $500..

Stayed here as home base for visit to Ouray and Telluride. Was a delightful getaway place. They gave us a great room wi th a view across the valley of the snow capped San Juan Mtns. It was quiet and peaceful, and they had a large cold water swim pool, which we used to exercise. (It was cold water but great for the exercise). And it had a waterfall, and a very large hot tub that could seat a dozen up high, roofed and overlooking the pool. Was a great place to relax after a day of hiking in the mountain towns. The place is very creative adobe kind of motif. It is just a tad ‘used’ overall, but not an issue. but it is quite price competitive (cheaper) with the Mtn town places. Front desk was very helpful with us when we had an issue, and they took care of it right away, upgrading us to an even better room. All the rooms are different. There are tennis and pickle ball courts across the street. Ridgeway is a sleepy town with just a couple restaurants and stuff. I would stay there again.

The receptionists upon both check in/out were less than friendly. Broken blinds lacking privacy Missing TV control Breakfast consisted of bagels, muffins, cereal and yogurt. No fresh fruit or protein. Asked about the bacon we smelled and were told it was from the restaurant the night before. The pillows were very nice and comfy.

Our room 221, had gross mildewy carpet out front, only half the electrical outlets worked (which we needed for remote work), it was hot in all but the front room, the back room had a ceiling fan that made horrible noises and swung all over the place (scary when sleeping under), beds not comfortable with cheap bedding, and the breakfast (!!!) was not healthy. Our options for breakfast included cheap yogurt, shared bowl of granola, bread and one type of muffin. No protein or fruit. We paid $1100 to stay in the hotel for two nights, way too much for the place, amenities, service, cleanliness and "included breakfast". I used stay in this hotel, attend yoga retreats there and really enjoyed the place and atmosphere. I will not stay again and can not believe that I brought my friends there and we paid SOOOOO much money! Ugh.

Had a wonderful weekend in Ridgeway, CO. The Chipeta Lodge was a great place to stay. Under new ownership, the new owners are making a solid attempt to upgrade most everything about the Lodge and spa. There are still some upgrades to be made but they are chipping away at it. We will return.
