I developed a sinus infection while in town on a ski trip. I knew I had a sinus infection (I get them annually), so this was just to get an Rx to help clear it up. The facility is fine, and the staff was nice enough, even if it took over an hour with only one other person in the waiting room. What makes this 1-star is the cost. I saw a clinician (not even a full doctor) for literally less than 10 minutes. They let me describe my issue, immediately agreed it was a sinus infection, and returned with my prescription. The bill I received in the mail? ***$306*** You read that right: three hundred bones. My regular primary care physician doesn't charge that much for full annual exam (which takes far more time). I have since tried to argue my case about the insane cost I was being charged, but they know you have no real legal recourse short of spending WAY more on an attorney. In short, don't go here unless you have great insurance coverage and at the least, ask how much they plan to charge you before you give them any information (they claimed taking my "new patient information" was partly responsible for the cost, though that took an admin maybe 5 minutes). Note: everyone was nice enough. That doesn't make up for the insane charges.

We are visiting with family in Colorado and needed to go to an emergency room. We chose UCHealth Yampa Valley and I received the best care I have ever experienced in a hospital. I was seen within minutes by Dr. Lisa Wilber Powers and the team in the ER. They were professional, caring, understanding, and unbelievably helpful. A battery of tests was ordered. The results quickly returned, allowing treatment to start at lightning speed. All this happened the day before Christmas, as most places were winding down for the holidays. On Christmas Eve, the decision was made for me to be admitted for overnight observation. My care was handed over to Dr. Evan Hardesty, and an extraordinary and talented team of professionals. They were unbelievable. Kind, very caring, extremely efficient, and professional. Starting with the admission process [which was terrific] and the UCHealth app that provides test results immediately, my family and I cannot express how much we appreciated the extraordinary care and kindness showed, up to and including when I was released on Christmas Day. Thanks, UC Health, well done :-)

I went to the lab on Saturday 2x (I brought the wrong order and had to go back) and Julie was AMAZING. She was so nice and professional and I got in and out in 5 minutes. The results are posted to the patient portal as soon as they are ready which is another huge benefit. I will always do my labwork there whenever I am in town and will also try a UC Health location in the Front Range. Overall a great experience and one that far exceeds LabCorp. Thank you! Kim

Such a great hospital one of their surgical team members likes to do drugs at work I'm sure I'm not the only person that he hurt and what upsets me the most is the lady I spoke with the chief medical officer of UC medical health was more concerned of a lawsuit than she was of public safety and then I find out he was allowed to keep his medical practicing license just thought everybody should know

I want to say thank you specifically to Ken the male nurse working the night of August the 25th around 11pm. Ken was an excellent nurse with a calm, caring attitude, he really shined in our moment of stress. He may never see this review but I hope UCHealth Yampa Valley you can share it with him and give him another handshake from me. You have a one of a kind in this gentleman. Excellent service from the front staff to the Doctor on duty that night. Thank you.

I endured a horrible ski accident and needed to be rushed to UCHealth. Upon arrival the team managed to get my clothes off (without cutting them.) They automatically send me to the CT and MRI machines. The team of doctors stated that I would need emergency surgery due to multiple fractures in my spine. Partial paralyzation was possible, but luckily everything went very smoothly. Dr. Devin and Dr. Breen were able to screw and fuse the center of my spine successfully. I was extremely lucky that this hospital has an amazing spinal specialist. Besides the doctors, all of the UC staff is absolutely phenomenal. I've been to multiple hospitals with many injuries, but the care and compassion at UC is unmatched. Not sure who's out there giving UC one star, personally I would give them 5+. The best experience I've ever had by far. Thank you UCHealth for getting me back on my feet the same day!!

The people at the hospital pharmacy are nice enough. However, I think there’s a more important issue here ... and it’s about a large company coming into town (UC Health) and directly competing with our local pharmacy, Lyon’s Drug. Lyon’s is a small company who has been faithfully serving our community for decades. Their costs are competitive and their care for their customers is legendary. But most important, they are part of a network of small businesses that is the lifeblood of our community. UCHealth is not only offering an on-site pharmacy they are actively, even a bit aggressively, promoting it to anyone who has surgery. I had 2 surgeries this summer and the nurses were almost adamant that I have them fill my prescriptions from the on-site pharmacy. I did the first time, but once I started thinking about what this behemoth company was doing, I politely said no after my second surgery, only to have the nurse very actively try to persuade me. My personal thought on this is that as members of our community we should purposely choose to support local, and not let this huge company put our local pharmacy out of business.

Brought my 16 yr old daughter in because she had a procedure 2 days ago. She had an inflamed esophagus and stomach lining, was extremely weak, been throwing up for weeks and lost 20 lbs. Since it was Sunday our Denver Gastroenterologist told us to go straight to the local ER and get fluids and medications via IV. Neither Dr. Powers nor the nurse called our doctor until after 3 hours that we were there. The Denver doc's instructions were that she needed meds in her system and needed to be admitted due to dangerous weight loss. Dr. Powers wanted to send her home despite the fact that she was vomiting ice chips, couldn't hold down water, and I had no way to give her her medications 3x/day because she couldn't keep anything down. To boot, the nurse was defensive and nasty. I've only had 1 good experience at this hospital out of 4. Do yourself a favor - go to Vail Hosp if you can't make it to the front range. Night and day in terms of expertise, cleanliness, organization, bedside manner, etc.

Sports Med clinic review: I just sat in the waiting room at the hot springs for my appointment for physical therapy. After 41 minutes of waiting I could no longer wait anymore and left. I called the main office to explain what had happened. They were sympathetic and offered me the next available appointment but I had re arranged my entire day to accommodate this appointment... very unprofessional, they shouldn't have opened a second locattion where they don't have someone working the front desk in order to tell the therapist that they have someone waiting. Very disappointed by this because I've seen them before and they were great but I will not support a business that operates in this fashion!

They advertise lower pricing that is competitive with the front range, but this is far from the truth. I was billed the maximum for every service I received. Good luck to anyone who visits here with a high deductible insurance. And if you are like me and had no idea, it will cost you over $3,000 to be treated for the stomach flu (IV fluids and anti nausea meds). Stay healthy my friends.

Billing system is broken...Patient portal billing does not show bills for YVMC. Very difficult to pay bills, but quick to threaten to send you to collections. I would happily pay my bill if I can figure out how. Over an hour on the phone and no one can find my past bills....or really seem to want to help at all.
