Coalton Trailhead is a fine parking area for the trails on Marshall Mesa, offering a variety of uses such as hiking, mountain biking, trail running, and horseback riding. The trail features incredible views of the Flatirons and other vistas, but be prepared to encounter cows and other wildlife. While the trail has little shade, it is an easy place to start a hike or bike ride, with newly built trailheads, well-maintained restrooms, and a covered picnic area. Parking is ample, with about 20-30 spots available, and the restrooms are generally clean. Despite the occasional unpleasant vault toilet, this trailhead is described as "posh" for a trailhead, with its amenities and open spaces.
It's a fine parking area for the trails on Marshall Mesa. Docked one star for having the worst smelling vault toilet on the Front Range.
