had an extremely upsetting experience at the Ulta store in Superior, Colorado. I came in to browse and shop like any other customer, but from the moment I walked in, I noticed I was being watched closely. I didn’t cause any trouble, I wasn’t acting suspicious — yet I was followed around the store and treated like a threat.
To make things worse, someone at the store actually called the police on me. I was shocked. I hadn’t done anything wrong. I wasn’t loud, aggressive, or stealing — I was simply shopping. It was clear that I was being racially profiled.
There is no excuse for this kind of behavior. No one should have to feel like a suspect just for existing in a store. What happened to me was wrong, and it left me feeling disrespected, embarrassed, and unsafe.
Ulta needs to take real responsibility. This is bigger than one incident — it’s about how certain people are treated based on how they look. I won’t be returning to this location, and I sincerely hope Ulta takes steps to train their staff and prevent this from happening to anyone else.

I came into the Ulta in Superior, Colorado just to shop like anyone else. I didn’t cause a scene, I wasn’t loud, and I didn’t steal anything. But for some reason, I was followed around the store, treated with suspicion, and then — unbelievably — someone called the police on me.
This wasn’t a misunderstanding. This was racial profiling.
Being treated like a criminal when you’ve done nothing wrong is humiliating. I was scared and angry. I kept asking myself, “Why me?” And the answer was clear: because of how I look. That’s not okay — not now, not ever.

I had one of the most disturbing experiences of my life at the Ulta store in Superior, Colorado. I walked in to shop like any normal customer, but instead of being treated with respect, I was followed around the store and watched closely for no reason. I hadn’t done anything suspicious or wrong — I was simply shopping.
Things escalated when someone at the store decided to call the police on me. Yes, the police were called on me — and I was completely innocent. This was not only unnecessary but deeply humiliating. I truly believe I was racially profiled, and it’s heartbreaking that this kind of treatment is still happening in 2025.

I had a disturbing experience at the Ulta on Marshall Road in Superior. Despite doing nothing wrong—browsing, picking up items thoughtfully—I was treated as a suspect. Associates followed me, watched my movements closely, and with no justification, someone called the police. I was confronted by officers for no valid reason and felt humiliated and unsafe.
This felt like blatant racial profiling. It wasn’t about anything I did—it was because of how I looked. It’s unacceptable that a retailer would treat a paying customer this way. I urge Ulta to take meaningful steps: implement real anti‑bias training, hold managers accountable, and ensure all customers are treated with dignity and respect. No one should be suspected or criminalized simply for shopping while Black—or any race.

Most employees are great but Bernadette, the supposed “manager”, is rude, condescending, and openly disrespects the people around her. I hope they can find someone better soon!

Writing this because it’s happened both times I’ve been in this store. Harassed and pressed to enter my phone number and email in order to purchase. I decline. Associate pushes. I decline again. Associate pushes. I decline again. I am essentially told that I can’t buy the product without giving this information. Told again I won’t be able to return item if there are any defects without my phone number being put into their system. That seems like a lie. Society is just encouraged to lie these days. I have product, credit card, receipt. Why do you need my phone number? Please respect people’s right to information and privacy. Both times I’ve been a millisecond from walking out without my product because the associate is relentless on collecting my information. I realize they are doing their job, but management, if a customer declines even once, let it go. I don’t want points. I don’t want to be in your system. I don’t shop here unless I need something. Management- stop telling your associates to be pushy on collecting customers private information. It’s principle and makes me so mad. I can’t just buy a curling iron? Jeez.

Great store. I’d probably stay in there longer if there weren’t pushy employees breathing down my neck the whole time.

This is the Ulta I shop at the most. I haven't had a negative experience with them so far. This is also my go-to salon for haircuts. The staff is friendly and they greet you when you come in. Also, they're very attentive and always willing to answer your questions and help you hunt down a product or order it for you if it's not available at the store. I go there so often that the manager and staff already know me I feel! LOL. Keep up the good work guys! A very pleasant store.

UPDATE second bad experience at Ulta. Cashier was rude and said they updated their return policy to only 15% used? I swear Ulta is trying to put themselves out of business. I’m officially not shopping here anymore. Ugh.
I don’t understand how you can close the store for hours during your inventory DURING BUSINESS HOURS. No regard for customers time. Pretty unhappy I just wasted 20 minutes driving here for nothing. Going to Sephora 👋

I recently visited this Ulta location and had a highly disappointing experience. After purchasing a foundation on sale, I returned to exchange it for the correct shade, only to be told I’d have to pay the price difference, even though I was exchanging for the SAME product.
This garbage return policy is completely unfair, especially since the product was unused. They now only allow returns within 30 days and nothing after - not even a store credit. The customer service was unhelpful, and the employees were rude and seemed indifferent to my concerns. This isn’t my first poor experience with this location, but it will be my last! Byeeee Ulta, HELLO SEPHORA!

Store hours today are posted as 10-8. Travelled to this location from Erie only to find the doors locked and an employee say they are closed for a “few hours” to count inventory. No where outside or online mentioned this, nor could they give a time when the store would be open again (just a vague response). The employee seemed ticked off that several people were by the entrance waiting to enter.
