Delicious meal and great ambiance! We ordered the whole chicken platter “to share” and it was amazing. The sauce for the chicken was sooo good! Really enjoyed it, and it was perfect for 3 people to share. For dessert we had the basque cheesecake with bourbon caramel and OMG. My mouth was in heaven. Not sure why they only have a 3.7 rating, I highly recommend this restaurant for a cozy dinner in Mountain Village!

Went with a group of 6, 3 of us had the bison and it was probably the worst cut of bison they could buy. It was about 40% fat with some tendons thrown in to make it un-chewable even if you did decide to perceiver all the fat. The trout was good but only about half a filet. The elk was also good but again probably about half the serving size you’d expect even at a fancy restaurant like this one. The bison was also all cold by the time they re-plated it so that it could fit on the table. Would definitely not go again and regret ignoring all the bad reviews online.

The Black Iron Kitchen and Bar has to be the worst restaurant I and my party of 6 have ever had the misfortune to enter. The tables were uncomfortably far from the seats and several TV's were playing in the background. It presented a sports bar ambiance with prices comparable to the most elegant restaurants in cities around the world and was unbelievably awful. The portions would equate with lean cuisine, including the trout, elk and the bison, which was inedible because of fat and tendons, served on platters too large to fit on the table and when reintroduced on plates, so cold as to be repulsive. The waiters tried to compensate by offering free dessert. They gave a $44 discount —almost an insult!!

We had a great meal here. It is expensive for the food amount. The Elk Loin and Pot Roast were both excellent dishes. The apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream was very good! They have a very extensive wine list and the service was good. We sat inside, nice fire place and atmosphere. They take reservations which is nice for planning ahead.

Great atmosphere. Food menu is unique. Our server Amy G. made our dining experience perfect. She was very attentive and provided details about the menu offerings with a smile.

Pretty disappointed in this restaurant. The food was alright but the service was terrible. Our waiter was barely around and seemed disinterested in being a waiter. Then the food took forever to arrive. It was an hour 15 minutes after getting there before we could eat our main course. They didn’t really apologize; they just set some bread on the table without any explanation, which was weird. Anyway, I think there are better options for eating in the mountain village.

Atmosphere is great! Bathrooms have amazing smelling soap from the hotel. The food is ok. The “truffle fries” are regular fries with parmesan cheese, zero truffle oil or favor. The smash burgers were only good if drenched in 1000 island sauce, the meat was tasteless. Best lemonade in town.

Very tasty dishes. Served fairly quickly despite plenty of diners at peak lunchtime. Friendly service.Wheelchair accessibility: Right next to the Mountain Village Core

We've been here several times and generally enjoy the food and atmosphere. Last night was different. The service was poor, our server was very pushy like they needed to flip the table, and the elk loin (two orders) both came out at room temperature like they had been sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served for a long time. Very disappointing for a 'last night in Telluride' dinner.

We have been coming here for almost as long as the restaurant has been open. We always come for the burger which up until this year has been a nice pub style, thick, juicy burger, and they change it to a Smashburger, but it still shows the Wagyu burger on the menu. needless to say it, it is the worst hamburger I have had at any establishment in Telluride in the last 20 years. Moreover, one of our burgers had to be sent back three times because we wanted it without cheese and without the onion jam and all that came on it the first time was one paper thin patty with cheese, nothing else. So we sent that back and it came back with one patty, no cheese, lettuce- a plain burger . The third time came back as ordered which is two patties no cheese, no onion, jam and everything else. If the burger doesn't return to the pub style burger that were used to having Will probably never be back to this establishment due to the poor quality of this dish. Wine by the glass is nice.

We usually love this place...it's become a regular. Our meal tonight was very mediocre - it took forever to get a drink, our food came out luke-warm and steak that was ordered medium rare came out well-done. They offered to comp a dessert for us, when they really should have taken the steak off of the bill. Hoping Black Iron will sort out these issues as it's a great option in Mountain Village.

We used to love this restaurant. We have gone for 3 years in a row. The past times we ordered a large meat platter and it came with amazing roasted veggies and tasted incredible. This time it was a couple veggies in small skillets. They were not anywhere close as great as the previous meals. Also - this one cost more. We are on the fence on whether we will return.

This place stinks. Literally. Walked in the front door and immediately smelled horrendous. I'm not sure what is creating this horrid smell but it never leaves your nostrils. The prices are outlandish and we haven't even received our food yet but I am betting on it being mid. Would not recommend placing a reservation as you and your nose will surely be disappointed and dissatisfied.

At first glance, the restaurant is quite nice. There are fires going at each table outdoors, and the atmosphere inside is cozy and warm. The food however, was a different story. The fondue was inexplicably grainy, and too watery to coat anything dipped in it. Then there was the duckling. Perhaps it is not ordered often, as the duckling turned out to be 2 duck breasts so tough a fork could not penetrate them. The presentation was appalling, with just half of a turnip and a few leaves to garnish. The sauce and hoecakes were nowhere to be found, I was left wondering if this was in fact the dish I ordered. Overall the ambiance and service were nice, but the food was utterly lacking and overpriced.
