Meh…mediocre and the most expensive restaurant in town. Definitely nothing like the original National. $70 for a duck confit entree that was ok but not worth the price. For half the price you can get a better dinner anywhere in town. FYI…the original National is now at Petite Maison. Do yourself a favor and go there.

Awesome experience, I would highly recommend. Our drinks and food were fantastic and the team members were so welcoming, kind and sweet. We came there for our anniversary and they made the dinner service extra special for us, so appreciated. It’s a dining experience we will cherish for a long time. Thank you to the team at The National!

I loved the national. Michael, our server, was the BEST. The food was excellent in every way. I can’t wait to go back.

My family and I just visited from northern IL. We have eaten at most of the fined dining restaurants in the Telluride/Mountain Village area and I can tell you this was my favorite stop. Every single aspect was on point...food flavor and creativity, staff attention and care, and the atmosphere of the room. My personal favorite was the Pheasant Agnolotti - rich, smooth, earthy broth and pasta was perfectly toothsome. We had the privilege of meeting Chef Chris and co-owner Kate. They were remarkably welcoming. I'd seriously recommend The National. In my opinion, it's the best dinner in town.

This restaurant is a stunner...outstanding food and presentation. Service was exceptional and the atmosphere is hip, while sophisticated, comfortable and inviting. The attention to detail placed in every aspect of this restaurant is apparent. Hats off to the new owners. Keep Killin It. This is just what Telluride needed.

Best meal I've had in Telluride. Service was amazing especially the cocktails and the bartenders. Food was next level. Ibleft the restaurant with a new perspective on what a dining experience should be. Amazing!

A great restaurant, with great ambiance and spectacular staff….just don’t go there expecting it to be the same as the National restaurant that preceded it, in that same location. New ownership, new menu, similar ambiance and decor (overall). Smaller portions over much of the menu (notably housemade pastas, which *were* indeed good!). Dessert menu was less exciting than we are used to (again, unfairly comparing it to the National restaurant of old). Great wine knowledge/list…thank you Kate! Cocktails fell somewhat flat *for us* (Buenas Noches: mezcal completely hidden by Fanta-like sweetness) except for the Night Vision (think that was the name…Palo Santo infused, stellar concoction)All in all a young restaurant with great, well-trained staff and a very workable menu overall. After years of dining at the old National (re-conceived as The Grand, to open soon), our expectations were inappropriately applied to this new restaurant. Our vote would have been for them to choose an entirely new name rather than giving the *appearance* of coattail-riding (we were told the justification was that the historic building was once called the National Club). We wish them the best of luck!

So this version of the National has been open since mid December. The good? Great drinks, good vibe, good appetizers and a super dynamic friendly greeter/host. The bad? Our $50 “seared tuna” special was just cooked medium- NOT seared. Our pheasant ravioli dish was just a bit warmer than room temperature- not great. What seemed like a delicate pasta was a bit tough. Seemed like maybe our things sat for a while before getting to us. We are not the type to send stuff back, but the mains could have been better. Our server Kyle was either having a horrible day or also working in the kitchen doing something else. He wasn’t rude, but he was pretty unavailable, and either he was not on top of things or the kitchen was really not on top of things. We asked for a 2nd glass of wine before our entree arrived and got it after we had finished. Since I was facing most of the restaurant I don’t know that others had the same experience- other servers seemed pretty interactive and cheerful and the platoon took care of our table and waters really well. Since our main dishes were not really great- for the price- we ate better at other places in town this week even though every other place also seemed overwhelmed busy, their food didn’t suffer. We dined Tuesday Feb 20.

Definitely one of the better places to enjoy food in telluride!! The national runs like a well oiled machine. Tabitha was so kind, attentive, and recommended some great selections. All of our starters, entrees, and desserts were immaculate. We especially enjoyed the pork tenderloin... That spice rub was scrumptious. Lobster ravioli was delightfully earthy and satisfying. Truly blown away by the passion fruit ice cream with chocolate cake. 10/10 will be going back. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful evening!

On my vacation to Telluride my hotel booked all my dinner reservations for the “best” restaurants in town. We booked all dinner reservations one month in advance. On our first night on the town we were excited to try the national. Our reservation was for 845 pm because they were “busy” but there were empty tables. When we came to the hostess she had an attitude from the onset and asked how many we were to which I replied 2 and before she could tell me there was no availability I told her we had reservation. We brought our service dog and the hostess told us we couldn’t eat inside unless the dog was wearing service vest. We explained the vest was in hotel room and that we were on vacation and that the hotel booked our dinner and that we had flown on 2 different flights and were staying in a hotel with service dog but she wasn’t having it.She became more aggressive and more rude and wasn’t relenting. We either needed the vest or some paperwork. After trying to reason with her for 5 mins we found email from airlines and showed it to her and then she proceeded to give us the worst table in the place. I pointed to an open booth and she told me it was reserved. We settled on a high top and had our entire meal. Not till the end of my meal did someone finally sit at the open booth. The food was good but the experience was ruined due to the power trip hostess who was obviously a cat person. Her excuse was priceless. She needed the service animal vest to protect her customers from having allergies.Never again. The national. Your hostess needs some intimacy from someone other than her cat and needs it asap.

I had an amazing experience at the national for dinner and drinks. Trevor served us and had great wine recommendations as well. Beef tartare w quail egg was rich and delicious and the cold bar platter was beyond incredible. Palo Santo smoked gin drink also impressed me. Looking forward to eating there again or just dropping in to have a drink at the bar. Easily the best fod in telluride, best service also - the entire staff was warm and helpful.

We had a really fantastic experience here. The hostess was very accomodating seeing as we had no reservation (last minute night out). It was very busy but we were still able to dine.. The pasta was really a shining star - i wish we had ordered more! Great drinks, atmosphere, and food, I would return in a heartbeat. Service was great and a real A++++ for the front of house.

So disappointed! We came here for a nice dinner out, and had heard from many people around town that it was great food and service. The service was great- but the food and the environment?? No thanks. Our $120 steak was fully raw. The app was I guess fine. Spent the entire meal eating approx 4 inches away from the other tables. Will never eat here nor recommend it to anyone.
