Beautiful art. Man working Sept. 8 2018 asked where we were from. I get this is a standard greeting, but in reality..does it matter? Since we had been asked over and over that day, and since it did not change anything or have any value, we were tired of it. So, when the man asked us my husband said "We're from all over". That is true. Lived many, many places; nature of his work. No one lied, but we did not state where we reside as it is not relevant and really no one's beeswax. He was offended and said in a snide way "Oh, you that kind, are ya" . We blew it off and enjoyed ourselves anyway. I asked a few questions about some art, and complimented the general place. When we left I said we would be back in October. The man replied "We aren't asking you back. You wouldn't even say where you were from." Suggestions: Please consider not asking direct personal questions and instead say something non-intrusive..maybe.."How you folks doing today? Let me know if I can help". I am far more apt to talk if you do not push. You may end up hearing where we are from but what if...radical thought here...what if you allow the customer to divulge elements of their PERSONAL life when and how they wish. What if you took your cues from them? Friendly is only friendly if it is friendly:) Be friendly, not intrusive. I am not there for an interview, I am there to look/shop for art.
