I would encourage everyone to steer clear of this place. I am local and most local people don't go there. My first experience was a cashier on the phone talking about if I heard her right she said the pump was spitting. I got my ice and left. second was I encountered some elderly gentleman hanging around. with nothing to do. I loved his accent must of been a foreign person. there is tables but it's a gas station with no room aisles of gas station crap. this place is garbage if you like the place you can have it. I guess with the sandwich shop it is not a corporate store must be a franchise owned by some Saudi or business man from Pueblo.

I had a small claims court at 1300 & put 6” of Tuna Fish inside, before Judgement in my favor. Good move! I ate inside & it’s all good. There’s no Subway restaurant in Trinidad, The Sub Shop at the Whistle Stop has corned the market. Keep partying, keep winning

Employees are awesome! Went there, and the employee was happy to carry a friendly conversation with my little brother, who has autism. I will definitely return!

Don't let the gas station exterior fool you...The Sub Shop has THE best sandwiches! All their bread and cookies are baked fresh in store daily. Their staff was kind and the few booths they had inside were spotlessly clean. The owner was so kind to us and clearly takes a lot of pride in what she does. We will definitely be stopping again on our next trip through Trinidad.

While this restaurant is not a Subway, the sandwiches that they have are very similar if not exactly the same. The toppings seem exactly the same and also the names of many of the sandwiches are the same. That’s not to say it wasn’t good. I feel like the sandwich was very well prepared, the people working there were very personable and helpful, and overall, even though this is a restaurant in a gas station, I was very pleased

One worker there on 6/28/20 but she worked in a timely manner while making sure we got exactly what we asked for. Super sweet girl and because of her I will definitely be back

This review is for The Sub Shop inside the Whistle Stop, not the convenience store itself (the Whistle Stop wouldn't get more than 2 Stars): Our expectations for the Sub Shop were low, since the Subway that used to be here had closed and the place isn't much to look at (sandwich shop inside a rundown gas station and convenience store). But the sandwiches were surprisingly good. The setup is still exactly the same as a Subway, except with different (better) sandwich choices, slightly higher prices, and larger meat/ingredient quantities. And the employees were very friendly and efficient. Lots of locals were coming in the day we were there, which is usually a good sign. Highly recommended as an alternative to the two fast food places across the street.

This is a great spot for a quick sandwich to go. Not much atmosphere, just a couple of booths inside the convenience store there, but the sandwiches are made while you watch and are always fresh and tasty

Stopped for gas and grabbed a couple sandwiches and drinks. Prices were competitive if not cheaper than Subway and meat quantity's larger.

This is a great quick stop in Trinidad if you want to grab a good sandwich and get on your way. I had the spicy Italian and It did not disappoint! The ingredients were high quality and the bread was delicious. The staff was super nice. I've been through Trinidad several times to gas up and never found any place that was convenient and good quality before. The sub shop at the whistle stop is perfect. I even stayed a while at the picnic tables to enjoy the sunshine and give the dog a little break before we got on our way.
