For a Billion Dollar medial operation Vail Heath's patient portal is absolute garbage. simple actions like messaging your doctor or renewing a prescription are impossible. Billing portal link takes you to a completely different site where you have to create and manage an entirely separate account. Colorado Mountain Medical, a much smaller organization, whom Vail Health has bought out actually has a decent portal

BEWARE OF THEIR BILLING DEPARTMENT
This has been a horrible experience all around for us. The emergency room told us they took our insurance and even took our copay only to find out that was a lie and they billed us for 7k.
I have spoken to multiple people there who have told me they don’t know what happened but they can’t fix it. One of their billing representatives hung up on me TWICE and was extremely unprofessional. She refused to send me a list of my services to be able to dispute. The emails I have sent are unresponsive. They won’t even reimburse our copay that they took even though it means nothing. I can’t even get them to send me a bill. I only found out about this because I called.
Truly this is the most unethical, unprofessional, and fraudulent thing we have ever dealt with. Never go here.

While facing a life altering situation, everyone from the person that reassembled my hands to the person that cleaned my broken body, they all showed me compassion and empathy. You could not ask for a more dedicated group of people whose sole focus is seeing you through your recovery.

My experience with this hospital was about 4yrs ago. My son came in to the ER at about 3am in the morning for a croup flare-up. He’s dealt with croup almost his whole life and he is terrified every time. This time we tried a few different things first and when that didn’t work, my husband brought him to this ER while I stayed with my other son who was fast asleep.
They came back after about 2hrs or so and my husband said it was the best experience! The whole staff was so friendly and helpful and made them feel so safe and comfortable. They even gave him a small, stuffed dog that turned out to be his favorite lovie. He named him “Dr Puppy” and he’s slept with it every night since.
I just wanted to write a review to say “thank you” to all who helped my son that night. It helped us all breathe a bit better knowing there are some amazing people out there who care.

their billing department is completely unresponsive. I called about a dozen times during business hours over the course of several months and was only able to speak to a human once. They sent my bill to a collections agency despite the fact that they failed to send my claim to the correct insurance. Exorbitant price gouging - they tried to charge me almost $3k for an x-ray and a sling. Stay away from this hospital if you can.

I have lived in the Vail Valley for over 20 years, and in that time I have had two knee replacements (thank you Dr. Nathan Cafferkey!) and rotator cuff surgery (thank you Dr. Richard Cunningham!) all performed at Vail Hospital. As of today I need to add to that list, a hernia surgery performed by Dr. Turner Lisle. Another stellar performance by the excellent surgeons and staff at the excellent Vail Health hospital in Vail, CO. From the moment I checked in at admissions right through to the moment I checked out I was expertly cared for by the entire staff including Cary, Lily, and Grant who were cheerful, charming, and caring at all times making the whole surgery process as smooth and comfortable as any surgery could possibly be. Vail Health's use of the excellent Da Vinci surgical robot (used in both of my knee replacements and the hernia repair) has resulted in minimally invasive and excellent results in all three cases for me, and I highly recommend it. A normal hernia procedure without Da Vinci requires a far larger incision with 6-8 week recovery time, whereas Dr. Lyle has cleared me for near full recovery in 7-10 days. Amazing! I play pickleball 3 hours a day, ride my mountain bike 4-5 days per week, and ski 30-50 days a year, so sports are the focus of my life. I am 68 years old, going on 48 thanks to everyone at Vail Health! Cheers!

If you can stay alive long enough to get to St.Marys/Intermountain Healthcare in Grand Junction- do that. The care offered here is sub par, at best. The practitioners are unprofessional, the facility doesn't practice basic cleanliness standards. To top off our awful experience, they assured us that our insurance would cover the visit. It didn't. We're now stuck with a $30,000 bill. 10/10 recommend going anywhere but here.

They are hard to get ahold of to schedule appointments, don't call back when numerous voicemails have been left, their billing dept. is a joke. they don't submit items correctly to insurance then blame the patient for it. Once you do get ahold of them, they don't keep notes on anything, so you can speak to them monthly about a bill and they will still say that its been to long and out of their hands, that there was no notes on it. The patients have to manually submit their own insurance claims and if you don't they will send you to collections. The worst scheduling and billing experience. Don't go there unless you are dying. You might loose and leg and pay for it with the other.

If I could post no stars I would. These people are thrilled to financially ruin and lie to you. They are actively driving out locals so the rich second home owners can get all their services.

If you're going to break your leg skiing, Vail is THE best place to do it. My daughter recently spent 14 days in Vail Health Hospital, had 5 surgeries, and thanks to the world-class surgical skills of Dr. Randy Viola and his team, countless RN's, Care Techs, ER staff on Day 1 to the PT/OT team that got her out the door on Day 14... she will have a full recovery. I personally spent 13 nights sleeping on a lie-flat chair in her hospital room (beyond grateful to have a private room for such a long stay, and seriously, that chair was surprisingly comfortable) and now have a list of people to thank on behalf of our family, and stories to share that are probably far too long and gushing for a Google review (but I will try and summarize anyway). It was truly a team effort -- the level of top-quality medical care combined with genuine personal compassion and care from ALL the staff we interacted with turned a medical crisis into a massive success story. We can never fully express our gratitude.Dr. Viola's team; Matilda, Jenny, Kyle, Julia. Anesthesiologist, Galena Klimeck. Our pre-op angels, Laila and Kevin. Post-op, Stephanie. RNs in the PCU: Kayla (really helped us get things figured out the first days), Jess (A+ blood draws), Maria, Kim, Leslie, Travis, Christie, Allie (awesome pre-op pep talk before surgery #5), Elle, Mike/Jessica/Rory (memorable changing of the IV line!). Erin (a guardian angel throughout... PCU not even her regular area, but there on Day 1 when everything was new/scary. She went out of her way to remember my name and stop me whenever she saw me around the hospital to ask how we were all doing. So kind and encouraging. She also bakes the most amazing banana cake...). Everyone involved with "Operation Sunshine" getting my daughter into a wheelchair to get outside onto the Starbuck's deck for some fresh air between snowstorms (this was a BIG undertaking with her injury)... talk about healing!! Not sure there is a Starbuck's in the country with a better view? Ethan/chaplain. Care techs: Abby, Amy, Ashley, Jo, Graciela, Grant (hilarious 2am story-telling to help distract during a pain crisis), and Christina (!!!) -- Gold Medal Award for helping my daughter wash her hair on Day 6. Epic effort. We will NEVER forget you :) Everyone in room service -- yes, this hospital even has amazing food. Staff who cleaned our room. Front desk/volunteers. Pharmacy. So many names I didn't write down. There is even a puppy/therapy dog program. (dogs are very healing) Oh, and free parking and great wifi. There is a consistent feeling throughout the hospital that is actively demonstrated in EVERY aspect of daily life there... "care + excellence."This wasn't exactly the "two week vacation" I expected to have in Vail, but it certainly is one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My daughter can write her own review as the patient, but from my unique perspective, a stay at Vail Health Hospital, with it's incredible staff and amazing facility, is 5-Star TOP QUALITY A++.

I am a retired physician who was admitted to this hospital through the ER last week for evaluation of chest pain. I have had an extensive history of experience in hospitals, and I want to say that my experience in this hospital was excellent! The nurses on the floor and in the cardiac cath lab were compassionate, competent, and very professional. The doctors who took care of me (Dr. Brownson was the ER doctor, Dr. Santibanez was the Hospitalist, and Dr. Greenberg was the Cardiologist) were very competent and professional as well. And everyone was so courteous and helpful! And consequently, I had a very positive outcome. I would recommend this hospital facility to anyone! Dr. W. Warkentin

Beware of this hospital and the costs that will be involved - easily 5 times higher than the average fees across the country for better and more comprehensive care. It seems that they take advantage of vacationers who have no other options for immediate care.

A warning to anyone who comes here for treatment:I received a head injury and was taken to the emergency room at this hospital. The treatment team recommended a CT scan, however, they refused to disclose the cost it would be when I asked prior. Afterwards, I received a bill for almost $7,000 dollars. This amount was for a CT scan, no medication, and a very limited neurologic physical exam performed in 1 minute by a disinterested provider. The hospital was unwilling to negotiate the cost despite the fact I have no income and am a student. This is an exorbitant cost compared to other hospitals in the country, and the treatment I received was mediocre and borderline negligent compared to the current standard of care. If possible, avoid this hospital and seek treatment elsewhere.
