Butterfly Pavilion is a unique invertebrate zoo and the only stand-alone, AZA-accredited facility of its kind. Its main goal is to foster appreciation for invertebrates by educating visitors about the importance of protecting threatened habitats and conducting research to support invertebrate conservation. The pavilion is a beautiful and engaging place, attracting visitors from nearby areas and beyond. The highlight is the butterfly room, which features many different types of butterflies, colorful plants, feeders, and live displays, making it an ideal spot for photography and relaxation. Visitors often enjoy seeing butterflies fly freely and even sitting on them, creating a therapeutic experience. In addition to butterflies, the pavilion offers a variety of other insects, including tarantulas, some of which can be held, as well as crabs and starfish that can be touched and pet. The indoor exhibits are complemented by an indoor playground, suitable for children and babies, which is clean and visible from various angles. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the visitor experience. The facility is small but packed with interesting exhibits, making it a worthwhile visit that can take around an hour and a half. Weekdays are less crowded than weekends, and online reservations are recommended for easier access. Overall, Butterfly Pavilion provides a colorful, fun, and educational environment for all ages.
We visited the butterfly pavilion during our trip to Colorado. The place was clean and well organized. A little smaller than I expected, but engaging. We did arrive around the same time as a school trip but they were organized enough to make it seem like it wasn't too busy.
