My mom spent 10 days at Wheatridge Manor Care recently for rehab due to a fall where she broke her hip and wrist. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. Her PT progressed quickly, and overall the experience was very good. The facility itself could use some capital improvements, but the most important part to me was the staff. I would highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a rehab facility in the area.

My wife was at Wheatridge Manor Center (WMC) earlier this summer. We had overall a good experience being there. In preparation to place her in a Long Term Facility, I had begun my research as to where I should place her and many sites did not meet the level of care I was looking for.But WMC and two others did. I had WMC third on my list with distance from our home being the main factor. They and two other sites had very good audit scores for the Northern Denver/Suburbs area with Medicaid. When my wife was approved in early April for Long Term Care, a bed became available at WMC and that locked in my decision to have her reside there. The facility is a bit older than others from the outside, but inside they looked similar to other sites I visit. It was clean inside and they are constantly cleaning with mopping, trash pickup, multiple times a day.My wife had two outstanding CNA’s who were assigned and worked most days with her. One of them had 30 years of experience and it showed. I knew when talking with her, she would tell it like it was, and I appreciated her candor on how my wife was doing since my previous visit.Although my wife chose to not participate in the many activities offered, it was not due to the lack of effort by the activity directors. The Physical Therapy staff was very good. Both the PT Manager and her PT assistant kept me updated on her progress or later her lack of progress with PT activities. On June 21st she passed. Her passing was sudden and somewhat unexpected. When my daughter, son and I arrived, the funeral home had also arrived to transport her body. Then the most powerful act of kindness occurred. As Kim was transported down the long hallway to the front exit, I saw a few residents I had gotten to know were outside their doors, nodding in silence to her and to us as the gurney went by. The turn at the end of the hall had more residents and many of the staff shoulder to shoulder. A nod to Kim as she went by and to us as we followed the gurney outside to the funeral vehicle. It was powerful. My daughter commented on how it impacted her, WMC showing such respect to her Mom. It was at that moment I realized that most if not all who enter Long Term Care anywhere have a similar fate. For many it’s their final home. The Staff and the Care personnel get to know the residents and sometimes the friendship they form is sometimes suddenly ended with the passing of the resident. Not an easy environment to work in, yet I saw mostly compassionate care for my wife and if given a choice I would do it all over again at WMC.To be in the Wheatridge community all these years and to have been providing the level of care consistently for all of those years had reinforced my decision to have her admitted and be taken care of by WMC. And perhaps this review will have you considering doing the same with your loved one. This past weekend, I flew my family to Minnesota and my wife’s ashes were placed next to her parents and an older brother. And for the many relatives who attended the service reception afterwards, they heard of the truly respectful way my wife was honored on her day of passing by the Staff, Nurses and the residents ofWheatridge Manor Center.Thank YouSteve

Went to talk to them about putting a family member here and they ignored me on my questions and beat around the bush when it came to how well they take care of people so I will not choose this place for my family

Nurses and CNAs be careful working here! As nurse I was left with 53 patients on a day shift. The DON Amber was well aware of the situation too since she was the one leaving me with that many residents. She will lie straight to your face cause she doesn’t want to deal with anything. She and many other staff members had respiratory systems and walking around, providing cares without a mask. I really wish the state would look into this facility I feel absolutely awful for the residents. A resident was served Turkey and it was literal cold lunch meat rolled up on her plate. Be careful if you pick up a shift here and think twice about placing your loved one here. We simply cannot provide the best care when we are given an unsafe ratio of residents to care for.

I was taken there against my will, my medical needs (including Oxygen therapy) were Totally ignored. I prayed to God to allow me to die, or get taken home. I have since been treated at the VA Hospital in Aurora CO, been transported by mercy flight to Eisenhower VA Community Living Center for terminal patient status. Don't send your lived ones to the Wheat Ridge Manor. I give them zero Stars as a medical treatment facility..

Staff and management are unprofessional and this facility should be investigated by state board of nursing.

The phone rings and rings and rings. Eventually if you're lucky someone will answer it, put you on hold and then hang up on you! And when you call back they're very very rude! Maybe the employees need a class on how to answer the phone???

The care has been very good here for my dad. The place has everything you need to properly care for someone. The staff has been wearing their masks, sanitizing and washing their hands and doing what I could see to take good care of my dad. The hallways are always clean including my dads room and bathroom. It smells clean throughout the building and in his room. I think it’s very nice they take their residents outside to smoke. The other residents seem well cared for. This is my dads second time being here for rehab. It’s not the fanciest of places but none of that matters to us as long as there is what is needed for good and proper care. The staff overall seem like they like their jobs and have shown great empathy and compassion. We really have liked and trusted them including the Dr’s, nurse practitioners, therapy, CNA’s and nurses. Thank you for treating my dad and us with pride and dignity. The communication and cares have been great.
